He bashes Obama is every thread. Hates his president. We are not more united becasue of People like him. I am way more Patriotic then him.
Omni-Wrath
If you are patriotic, then you hold dear the principals of this country.
One such principal is freedom of expression, in this case, dissent. People are allowed to hate their President. Just as you are allowed to whine and complain about Bush, so too is he allowed to rant about Obama for the next 4-8 years. That's one of the most important freedoms of this country, and if you can't respect that, you are one of the least patriotic people in America.
So.....we don't have freedom of religion? DarkPrinceXCwe do in name only, i rly wish ill have to testify in court one day so i can say " im not swearing on that bible, theirs no such thing as god" I RLY WANT TO DO THIS.
WHAT HAPPENED to seperation of chuch and state, we swear on bibles.. why cant you say " im not going to swear on that bible because i dont believe in god" , in god we trust on our money... wtf.. the founding fathers were very against religion playing any role in government and even in everyday lives.. many of them were anti religous.. what has happened.. were going backwards... obama should come out and say he's athiest.. i rly doubt he's christian, and if he is he probly dosnt really care too much.. he's just doing all this stuff so the religious freaks like him.. he's too edjucated of a man for religion to play such a big part in his life.nimatoad2000

And the court will allow you to do so, as they have done for years. Swearing on the Bible is optional.;)
The whole "all faiths (and none) are different roads to the same destination" idea that is steadily spreading is just more proof to me that we live in the end times.Huell_HowserYes, as we have been for the last 2,000 years

"In God We Trust" isn't our motto. It was just something that got added back in the 1950's during McCarthyism.

1. Religulous is a pathetic and silly attempt to mock theists, and is full of dishonest content.
2. Quoting wikipedia at me is an instant failure.
3. There is a distinct difference between "organised religion" and religion.
4. I have done my research, and it doesn't involve Wikiepedia. Franklin, Jefferson and Washington were Deists; do you know what that is?
Please, do some research away from Wikipedia; it makes you seem foolish otherwise.
It's a real shame that the most intollerant Christians are always the most vocal...MetroidPrimePwn
Yeah. And it's the first thing the media hones in on, because it's the most outlandish and will draw the biggest audience. The silly, paranoid views expressed by this "Christian" group are not an accurate representation of most Christians. The same could be said of the comments made by nut-job far left-wingers that the media hones in on...their comments don't accurately represent the majority views of liberalism in the USA. The mainstream media is a joke...they don't focus on truth. They primarily focus on entertaining and culling the masses.
I would consider myself a Christian, and I found nothing offensive or alarming about Obama's speech. It is true...this country is made up of people who believe in many different kinds of religions...and many who don't believe in any religion. That's all he was saying. I think his main point was that Americans need to get over the concept of "us and them". Though our views and beliefs may differ, we share a common bond and should focus on our similarities rather than our differences. It's the only way the USA will survive as a nation. If we focus on our differences, we will fall apart.

One could make a case for Thomas Jefferson being an atheist, IMO.

I guess he's right for acknowledging the US is diverse, but as a christian I can understand why other christians are worried/upset. afterall, all the past presidents were christian and all of the sudden we get Obama. morpheusnj
The founding fathers were deists, and Obama is a Christian.
That's as silly as white people getting upset when Obama says that this nation is made up of many ethnic groups.
[QUOTE="Tauruslink"]So Christians are upset that the president acknowledges atheists? That's stupid.LosDaddie
Like I said earlier, it's the "Culture War" mentality where (some) Christians feel the need to play the Victim Card at any perceived slight.
Yeah, hopefully Obama will institute a policy of Kulturkampf during his reign... :(I guess he's right for acknowledging the US is diverse, but as a christian I can understand why other christians are worried/upset. afterall, all the past presidents were christian and all of the sudden we get Obama. morpheusnj
Obama is still a Christian. But honestly, why should anybody be upset if he weren't? Is religious tolerance really just an illusion maintained only when ones own faith is represented?
And here come the group of people who believe all Christians thought Obama was stupid for saying that. Look I'm Christian, and I see nothing wrong with that line b/c it's true about America today....scfan3Yup. I'm Christian as well, and I think certain people are taking things too far. I have no problem with Obama saying this.
I didn't like it. I specifically didn't like assertion that the U.S. is a Muslim nation. The U.S. is not a Muslim nation. A country cannot be of many different faiths. It is either one faith or of no faith. Mr. Obama is confusing Christianity with Universalism. He is doing a disservice to every faith's beliefs, therefore I see no reason to show pity to him.
The U.S. was a Christian nation. It once supported slavery and sexism, both of which are promoted in the Bible. It is no longer a Christian nation. It is a nation hijacked by people who don't take their faith literally like Mr. Obama, people who dress up their secular agenda and call it a "religion". It's no wonder that even Christians today use the term "religion" as an insult. The term loses meaning when Mr. Obama thinks he can reconnect people of different faith.
Well, I'm merely ranting. As much as I hate religion, I hate universalism even more.
I don't believe we are a Christian nation, so I have no problem with what he said. If anything he should have included more religions in the sentence.helium_flashLike the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Scientology? Give me a break. Christianity is the only religion that matters in the grand scheme of things. You don't see Jews evangelizing in the States as much as you do Christians.
[QUOTE="mysterylobster"]In the end, these are just words. I'm waiting to see if his actions will become hostile to Christians. Omni-Wrath
He is a Christian genius. Not to mention why would he become hostile of the 93% population of America. You know if you don't like Obama get out of this country. I mean you loved Bush so it mucst mean you hate America since all Bush did was damage America.
Oh man. There you go again with the "if you don't like it, leave" comments. :roll:Aye. It's pretty funny that these guys are bringing up those statements, of all things, as "controversial".Exodus Faith Ministries? Isn't that the same group of nuts that applies therapy to homosexuals?
Obama was right. I don't see how this could possibly qualify him for heresy; who even says that? Of all the things I expected this topic to say that pissed off a bunch of Christians (homosexuality, abortion, stem cells, the Democratic Party, etc etc) I never, ever saw this trivial crap coming.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg... there's a lot more.
What is sad to realise is that far too many people who call themselves Christian do not hold true to the teachings of Christ. Christ was friend to both believers and unbelievers. Though Christ did teach that we need to be faithful Him to be saved, that in no way gives any human the right to judge others. Even more important, Christianity teaches that those who will be saved will not likely be those who are expected.
What everyone needs to realise about TRUE Christianity is that it is a way of life that is defined by unwavering loyalty to God and every single one of His teachings. Breaking one is the same as breaking them all. The reason for this is not to make Christians think they are perfect (such thought is in fact against God's law) but it is meant to encourage people, no matter there background, to always seek perfection in life. Sadly, one of the most trampled on laws of God is the respect that Christians MUST show to ALL people. Jesus Christ saved countless people not just from sin but persecution as well as God's law is clear; whether faithful or not, all humans are equal and not perfect. Christians must love every other person more than themselves and God more than that. Therefore, Christians have in no right by God's law to be offended when they are mixed with unbelievers. A Christian must hold strong to their faith and be happy to befriend those of other beliefs
