[QUOTE="bobaban"]Because thats how women can feed their children while the men make money for the food, shelter, etc. Well that's the way its been since the dawn of man. Things have only changed within the past 100 years. AlphaRailNot totally 100%, there have definentily been some societies/religions that give women equal rights..although that is not always followed and is "changed", but the original beliefs say about women being equal. Such as the Koran, Muhammad's original followers were mostly women because of the ideals told to him. Also Buddhism called for equality, but that wasn't as much as the Koran called for... For example, in Ancient mesopotamia. Women had basic rights and stuff, whereas in other parts they were cooks and sex slaves. Essentially.
I have never agreed with this notion, I can cook for myself thank you get your arse back in the bed room .
Men just say it so woman can be reminded of the menfolk's limited capacity for observation, and have a good laugh at their narrow-minded ignorance. :) Honesty, men can't even feed themselves! It's true!ok, i was posting on gamefaqs (probably a big mistkae right there) and when i ask a qustion or comment or anything, sometimes people respond with insulting things, one of which is like "women belong in the kitchen" and that i should always be in the kitchen
where did that stuipd ideology originate from? that is so wrong, ugh; this is a dumb way of thinking, absurd
i find that a bit insulting that they would think i have to always be in the kitchen seriously
where did this trend orginate?

[QUOTE="KittyHeart"]It originated in the kitchen. LMFAO!!!! Oh man, thats awesome :lol:where did this trend orginate?

This.Because in the mid-1900s, women weren't expected to work jobs, instead maintain the home and take care of children.

It was a fact a long long time ago. Now is just a joke to make men feel better when they're cooking for their wives.
From exasperated people who don't want to see any more idiotic girl gamers who think that their value is somehow boosted by gomg "well omg I'm a girl and I play GAMES what do you think of THAT lol!!!! IM SO COOL AND UNIQUE (except not because 94281029412 girls play games)" Most people voted for imprisonment, but it was a nicer alternative to put those people in the kitchen where they at least have access to food. This is not rage directed at op, who is obviously a girl who games, but seems simply clueless rather than suffering from self-valuation fail. I like meeting other girls who game, because it gives me something in common with them, but so many are self-absorbed fanfic/fangirl types or are very proud of themselves for playing games. Hoping this changes as I age, and it's gotten better since when I was 12, but still, people leave a lot to be desired.ok, i was posting on gamefaqs (probably a big mistkae right there) and when i ask a qustion or comment or anything, sometimes people respond with insulting things, one of which is like "women belong in the kitchen" and that i should always be in the kitchen

Also, op, maybe if you didn't have the name "KittyHeart" and have sparkly pink icons, you wouldn't get those sorts of comments. Most people assume I'm a guy, despite the fact that I play stereotypical girl games like JRPGs and action/adventure and Mario rather than shooters.
Edit: My guy friend came up w/ a response to people who say GB2K (go back to kitchen) based on traditional gender roles: tell guys to go back to the (salt/coal/diamond/whatever you fancy) mines. Who's better off, then?
I personally dont see anything unequal between a husband who has a job and a housewife. Both can vote and express their opinions, they just have different jobs, while still being equal.STAR_AdmiralIt's not like the roles cannot be switched, either. I don't see what's the big deal here.
It came from our great great great great great x 20 ancestor that was a caveman and forced the women to get our food or she got clobbered by his caveman club.
[QUOTE="awsss"]Female lions do the hunting. Female mosquitos are the only ones that suck blood as well.In nature, the men go out and work (male lions hunting, for example), while the women (with humans, the women have the children, breastfeed the children, etc) so in the 1930s - 1950s this extended to everything: chores/kids are the womens job, work is the mens job. It's outdated and is more of a stereotype, often used in a humorous way. The basis makes sense though: the women are the ones who aren't as physically strong, are the ones who get pregnant and have breasts, so it makes more sense for them to stay home with the kids. The men are physically stronger so its more naturally for them to be out "hunting". Though that's obviously not the case anymore.

I also personally dont see anything unequal about that. One person taking care of the home and the other going to make the money is not unequal at all. If you consider it unequal then you are making the flawed assumption that somehow "working in a mine or factory" is superior to "cooking, cleaning, etc". Women do deserve the right to vote and to express opinions and to have rights. But i really dont see anything unequal about a husband going to work and a wife doing the work of the home.Because even back in jesus times women were expected to maintain the household and men were breadwinners. The mentality kept passing down and is now being broken somewhat.

the idea been around for ages it hasn't been until the last 80 years or so that women started to gain rights and independence it was always believed the wife stays home, cooks and cares for the kids- I like cooking though lol it just takes up to much timeok, i was posting on gamefaqs (probably a big mistkae right there) and when i ask a qustion or comment or anything, sometimes people respond with insulting things, one of which is like "women belong in the kitchen" and that i should always be in the kitchen

The main problem with everything is that women don't want to be oppressed into certain roles or left out of certain things but yet some of them still want preferential treatment. You can only have one or the other, not both. As I always say.. if you want to be treated equally, want to be treated equally in all aspects.

Because its a role that if the woman didn't agree with, they would be persecuted.. The caretaker also had no where near the rights, as well as the say in the family.. If its her choice to stay home, good for her.. But in earlier times it was expected of the woman to always do that.

Its nothing against women and careers, i just want a woman who takes care of her kids, so that the kids are raised well and spend time with their parents instead of a daycare. if there was no need for money, I would stay home too, but someone has to support the family.

I like being in the kitchen - apron and heels with dinner waiting for the mister to come home .... mmm the mess one can make.Sajedene

Suprisingly it used to be an american tradition. Most woman were not even allowed to go to college in the early 1900's. Things are different now.

I like cooking - I make a mess. I'll clean it up afterwards. Can you cook?Actually I cannot cook for my life, but it is something I've always wanted to learn how to do and I will when I move out. My mom doesn't like me attempting to cook in her house. She has a fear that I'll burn the place down or I'll make a mess and wont clean it. Once I'm done with college I'm moving out and I will teach muhself how to cook especially since cooking is awesome.
How about you? do you make anything you or others would consider amazing?

What about having her help you/teach you how to cook... you gotta start somewhere. Like the proper way to make dishes she makes. Maybe she can have you do the chopping or the marinating but not anything that involves fire yet until she knows youre ready.[QUOTE="bigblunt537"][QUOTE="Sajedene"] I like cooking - I make a mess. I'll learn 1 day I can probably have my girl teach me, but it'll come in time. If I learn how to cook I'd cook everyday. I already like putting together those easy meals that take 30 min to an hour lol
