Lmao i'm loving the 'I don't understand you Americans post', because frankly, it goes both ways.
We have the largest amount of immigrants in the Americas compared to the whiter continent (Europe), so with a bunch of former immigrants, and yes ofcourse slavery played a huge part, tends to breed sensitivity among races, however one should note not all people see it as racist, the blogger = All americans attitude is an ignorant one that needs to cease espeacialy if you wish to be taken seriously.
and it was not only America who did it, countries from Japan to Brazil promoted the 'Black face' stereotype, The stigma is still there, much like the stigma between Chinese & Japanese is still there or any other culture so please stop speaking like you're better than someone.
@ the guy who asked 'Why is it a stereotype, only in america', sir where do you live? because i guarantee your country has stereotyped people from another country at one point or another, you live in a country thats populated by dominantly one race, white? or w/e correct, well then America is very diverse among ethnicities, and when you're as diverse as America........stereotypes like this among races are created more, i gurantee you, had your country been as diverse it would be the same deal.
Your arguement 'Its just people eating chicken', yea we can say the same thing about british people and drinking, they just wanna drink right, but hear the french tell it or some other european 'The british need to stop bringing their drunken a**** to our country making fools of themselves', British people have been stereotyped as being drunks. how is that any different than blacks with the chicken?, yes other countries stereotype to so shut it.

This is why people are quick to judge americans.
Lol at generalizations.[QUOTE="StripTheSoul"]
lol Americans are getting butthurt and none of us Australians are batting an eyelid.
gamertylers
Whats wrong with generalizations? At least if they're true. If I said Americans like milk if 80% of Americans like milk, whats wrong with that?

A few bloggers don't equal 80% of the US population, for one.[QUOTE="gamertylers"]

Well for starters, there is no "uproar" in the US. No major media outlet has been covering this story in any signifcant way. Contrary to what a lot of these australian sources would believe, most people dont consult with the Huffington post. That's a big liberal blog that pushes its own agenda. I dont think it correlates much with the opinion of the average american. Yet, most people in this thread seem to be pushing this huge anti american agenda.[QUOTE="magnax1"][QUOTE="gamertylers"] Lol at generalizations.

It just bugs me when people make it sound like generalizations or "stereotyping" is racist. If its true, how is it racist?
And yeah, I live and in the US, and I hadn't heard about this before i saw this thread, and it doesn't look racist in any way to me.

Very few things irritate me more than Yank media. The amount of things they seem to find offensive is f'ing incredible. What's worse is that they truly believe their cultural and historical values ought to be strictly applied to the rest of the world. Here in Australia we don't find this racist, we have no history being racist to the black community about fried chicken, this stereotype is unknown to the people of Australia, but no American had to stick their noses in and shout racist.
"Fried chicken is seen as a traditional southern food ... a staple of an African American diet,"
I'm pretty sure the West Indians aren't African Americans, isn't this racist assuming all black people are the same?
leperphiliac
Well you can think that, but you're censorship system is very similar to our whole deal with racism. Because it's so deeply inrooted in our history, for some reason they still think it should be relevant (I completely disagree)

If you read my post im not refering to Americans but to the American Media. If I was black I'd just laugh at this. I'm Polish and if the guy was surround by Polish people and then gave them kielbasa I'd laugh. It's not racist. It's a stereotype, COMPLETELY different, something which E V E R Y O N E does, whether you want to admit or not.
Lol, well i'm mainly Native American and i have to admit that we too like our fried chicken and i'm sure most light hearted African Amercans would admit it also. It is a stereotype but one thats true for the most part.
The end was a bit racist i'll have to admit though, saying "that was easy".
Sometimes, I don't understand us Americans either.God that's stupid. How is a person of any race enjoying fried chicken racist in anyway? I just don't understand you Americans.

This is just another example of American arrogance, egocentrism, and conservative america's self loathing, and insecure attitude. America needs to get real, wtf does the rest of the world have to do with your ridiculous stereotypes.gamedude2020
Speaking of ridiculous stereotypes.

Conservative? This has nothing to do with "conservative" America...it's whiny over-sensitive liberals who would make an uproar about this.
[QUOTE="weezyfb"]kfc is an american company..they should know betterbluezyBut they weren't advertising to Americans...
exactly, the ad was not put on American television.
No need to worry anymore the KFC ad has been pulled.

Weak..... first off as I said earlier in this thread West indians (well in my country) LOVE KFC infact we have the BUSIEST KFC IN THE WORLD, we cook it way differently than the rest of the world so it tastes ALOT better, secondly why are Americans so senstive, the race card is pulled way too much for the slightest things and imo it's getting really sickening.
Let's see first off here
Australians don't find it offensive
West Indians don't find it offensive (well at least I don't)
Americans find it so it gets pulled off aussie TV? Seriously? America gives some good lawls at times.

yes, it is one thing for the US to stick its fingers into the government of another country, depose its leader, and place its own puppet leader on the throne.
And quite another to get a foreign country to pull an ad people thousands of miles away, not even residing in said country, find offensive.
tisk, tisk :P

so, while you can, make us feel horrible, its not gonna be here forever!
That makes no sense to me its not racist at all.
