rofl at how they made the rape justified; the victim falsely accused you of molestation. That makes rape A-OK! jeeeeeeez
anyway, Japanese culture is...different. It is slowly modernizing, but the gender roles there are so insanely traditional/backwards it is not even funny.
My sister lived there for a few years. This is how one conversation would go, one in japanese, the other in American
American:
Sister: Hi, I need some paper for my students
Clerk: Oh I thought you had some
Sister: Yea but I ran out
Clerk: Fine, here, take it!
Sister: Jeez, lighten up *walks away*
Japanese:
Sister: Hello, I need some paper for my students
Clerk: Oh, so sorry?
Sister *remembers she is Japan* Ummm...oh..so sorry, may I kindly request some paper?
Clerk: So sorry, I thought you have been given paper
Sister: Ah, yes, you are most correct, but unfortunately my students have used all the alloted paper and I desire some more.
Clerk: Ooooooooooooooh
Sister: Yes...
Clerk: Hmmm I am unsure what to do. So sorry.
Sister: *remembering she is American, getting the best of her* Look, give me some paper please. Does it really need to be this hard?
Clerk: *gasps!*
Sister: Oooooh so sorry, I did not mean to offend
Clerk: *goes to get the manager*
Sister: Look, can I get some damn paper please
Manager: I, errr, ok...*put off balance by female's boldness*
Thats exagerated, but really not far from how dialogue goes in more traditional towns, where she lived. Women have to phrase things in a certain way, its really quite odd, and women are generally blamed for a lot of stuff that is not their fault.
