I saw Gabu and thought he came back!
And then I realized this is just a necro thread.
And of course a level 1 with less than 5 posts is the one to bump it...
How is this in any way funny?

Our universe is billions of years old. To think that the universe waited for us to develop is plain ignorance. Also people think aliens should be like the ones in movies. But they can also be bacteria. Get served.

Not to mention the billion or so galaxies just floating around, to think we are the only planet in a large galaxy out of a billion is also a bit ignorant.
How is it ignorant? It's not as if we have any proof. Or do we?TC, I think you're confusing why aliens haven't been seen here vs. that they exist somewhere in the universe, which when probabilities are taken into account point to the odds that many different aliens exist from several different star systems.
And as to why aliens look alike I don't know what you're talking about. Starting with Star Wars and Star Trek to Alien to Predator to Independence Day, they all look different and every alien movie I've seen looks different, including Cloverfield and Super 8. They may look the same in sketches, but in cinema and shows, they look completely different.
Isn't NASA up to something like 1200 Earth-like planets on their discoveries already? foxhound_foxWe seriously need to invent faster than light travel.
[QUOTE="MushroomWig"] We seriously need to invent faster than light travel.thriteenthmonkeYep. Now get working on it.
:P
[QUOTE="MushroomWig"]That's not faster than light, though. Just attach two flashlights. 2 x speed of light. Done.:P

I don't know. I'm skeptical about that too. Just because there are other planets and solar systems doesn't mean there is life on them. Some of those planets are too hot, too cold, too far from light, or have no characteristics of life. You would need life at the lower levels to support life at the higher levels. And most don't even have that. A more logical approach would be to look at the moon and mars. If you can't find life there where the situation is farely close to ideal for a possibility of life, how will you expect it somewhere else, somewhere less ideal?[QUOTE="Fizz111"]
[QUOTE="GabuEx"]
It seems to me that the fact that all of our documented supposed alien encounters were probably not alien encounters does not imply that aliens in general don't exist. Just on statistical grounds it seems unreasonable to suppose that we are the only form of life in the entire universe.
GabuEx
Here's a quick statistical summary of the universe:
- Our solar system has 8 planets in it.
- Our galaxy has about 400 billion stars in it.
- Our universe has about 125 billion galaxies in it.
If we make the simplifying assumption that our solar system is a reasonably typical one in our galaxy and that our galaxy is a reasonably typical one in the universe, then doing the math gives us around 400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets in the universe.
That's 400 sextillion planets.
To put that in perspective, today we have 185 confirmed planets that we have observed and know about.
Like I said, I feel that it is statistically unreasonable to suppose that, given those numbers, we are the only form of life in the entire universe.
Exactly this. I came to post, but Gabu did it for me.Topic shut down on first post...Our universe is billions of years old. To think that the universe waited for us to develop is plain ignorance. Also people think aliens should be like the ones in movies. But they can also be bacteria. Get served.

I think Aliens are real. And I also think for people to think we are thesuperior race is crazy thats how I see it.
That is based on simple mathematical odds, there is no absolute no matter how much "logic" you base it behind.theres millions of planets out there, logic dictates that there is other life

May be a stupid question that I am asking here but here goes,...Why are aliens most of the time have to be portrayed as being better than us tech-wise?.....what if they aren't?
Bottom line, for them to even get here, they'd have to be. You're not crossing light years in a by-plane.May be a stupid question that I am asking here but here goes,...Why are aliens most of the time have to be portrayed as being better than us tech-wise?.....what if they aren't?

Aliens do exist. I have one in my basements. His name is Lennox and he eats lots of pimentos.22ToothpicksI call pants on fire.

The Universe is way to big for me to believe that we are the only life forms in it.
We just have not seen them yet.
