Now obviously if you don't listen to any Christian bands then this thread is NOT aimed at you. I need some good recommendations for Christian bands or albums. For the record, I really like bands such as Casting Crowns, Hawk Nelson, Reliant K, ect.

Thanks guys, these bands sound really cool. I'll probably swing by Dimple after church today and pick up that Demon Hunter album.. I have a 50 gift card I've had since Christmas and I want to finally spend it and get some good CDs.
Personally I'd reccomend listening to band based on their music, and not their faith. It's a bit like listening to bands based on the lyrics they write or how they dress...Mr_Versipellis
Trust me I don't just listen to a Christian band for their faith.. Alot of the bands I've found in Christian music not only have very empowering lyrics, but amazing music that is in many cases better than a lot of mainstream music. Also, I like having a good set of Christian music for when I am having some personal worship or prayer time with God. I like the music cause of the mindset it brings me to, not just cause it's Christian.

I mean, it's not as if someone will like Rage Against the Machine if they don't agree with their message. That would be idiotic.
The only thing that's coming to mind right now is Paramore, but I doubt that's the kind of "Christian band" you're looking for...
Demon Hunter and As I Lay Dying. I forgot about these bands.
Demon Hunter - My heartstrings come undone
As I Lay Dying - The Darkest Nights
Totally, they have a new cd out called the world is a thorn.. Its really goodDemon Hunter - Storm the Gates of Hell is a great album.

Well, I find Satanic stuff to be quite moving, but in a different way. Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum... I don't know their exact religious views, they may not be Satanists, but their music is pure evil.[QUOTE="Mr_Versipellis"]Personally I'd reccomend listening to band based on their music, and not their faith. Totally agree. I listen to a lot of heavy crap thats not christian and their lyrics are dark and nowhere near as good as christian bands I listen to. Ill pick up a cd and not even realize its christian..[QUOTE="MystikFollower"][QUOTE="Mr_Versipellis"]Personally I'd reccomend listening to band based on their music, and not their faith. Well, interesting, to say the least. Apparently he supports Church burnings in Norway and thinks people around the world should rise up to rid the world of Christianity. Anyways, awesome recommendations so far guys thanks a lot.

You're thinking of Gaahl, not emperor. Emperor were a band.Oh, and Marduk. :P Darth-Caedus
The Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rachel Lampa, Jars of Clay, Michael W. Smith are just a few of the awesome names that come to mind. There are so many out there... but these are a great start I feel! :)

CHristian black metal/white metal is a bit pointless IMO. Isn't the whole point of black metal the atmosphere and the message of evil, as opposed to the music? I personally prefer death metal however, I don't really agree with all that stuff.

I may be mistaken of course, seeing as I normally don't listen to that music lol. I know there is a band called Emperor too though so maybe I am getting them mixed up.. *Drinks more coffee* There now my mind should be clear.

Click the link. ;) :P And yes I know. It's not the whole point of the music since there are black metal artists that deal with nature, space, and other non-religious things. It's not exactly a message of evil but a message of individualism in an altruistic society (naturally based around Christian morals). It's why the whole 2nd wave of black metal was started in Norway (the 1st wave was purely musical and was from bands in France/Switzerland/UK/Brazil). Bands like Deathspell Omega are really continuing the 4th wave at this point taking black metal into nearly philosophical territory with deep lyrics and messages. I typically prefer death as well (my avi/sig is a technical death metal band from New Zealand). Are you sure?
