"The federal government will pay the full cost of the Medicaid expansion through 2016. After that, the states will only pick up 5 percent of the cost through 2019, and 10 percent of the cost thereafter."
With what? The federal government is in deep debt. They can't afford it. My state (Florida) is in debt and can't afford it. But why the hell not? Let's just keep spending money we don't have. Liberals truly do live in a fantasy land.

Or about we stop extending tax cuts and tax breaks for the super rich and the corporations. The government is already too big and spends too much money. Why give the government more money to waste away through incompetence or inefficiency? If the government can't even cut into the spending deficit (never mind the actual debt) why even bother giving them more money? This isn't even a republican or democrat issue. This is the simple fact the government is mismanaging the funds it has now and that isn't going to change if you raise taxes for everyone.
Your right, it's beyond a political party issue. Both sides have been adding to the debt for years, without looking at the long term. With the Congress deadlocked and bickering, this will only get worse. They will pass temporary bills that kick the can down the road, without solving any issues.
The ACA is at least an attempt to fix things, by insuring more, and using specific methods to cut costs. It doesn't go far enough in my mind, but health care is only one contributor to government spending. I think it's all pretty much out of control, but rather than focus on common sense changes, including tax reform, we have one sid calling for tax cuts and the other for just more spending.
None of it makes logical sense, but that is the kind of world we live in today.
