Joan Chen's Xiu Xiu The Sent Down Girl is easily the most depressing film I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of Japanese and Chinese "the protagonist's actions amount to nothing and the rich bad guy always wins while he laughs and kicks you in the teeth while taking everything you hold dear" films.
Don't even have to give it a second thought, Grave of the Fireflies is the saddest movie I've ever seen. Never thought an anime would ever bring out an intense emotion in me but I was in tears during the last half of it.DuskyDawny
Agreed. We renamed that movie to "The Saddest Sad to Ever Sad a Sad".
[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="ElArab"][QUOTE="cgi15"]Green Mile...or recently i thought I am Legend was pretty sad. The dog and the climax....ElArab
Kill an animal and everyone cries  - meh, I Am Legend was nothing even if you just mean "recent sad movies"
Well it was a big deal because it was basically his companion alone in a city of monsters for over 3 years... That being said it was a sad movie but no where near to what the book was....
Yeah it's just that I knew he could have saved it but they just wanted to kill it to:
1.) Be somewhat true to the book
2.) Make everyone cry.
cuz he could have just sedated it (heck, he could have made it pass out when he was choking it, but he decided to go all the way and kill it) and had another patient to work on, like one of his many rats, and the infected lady.
I think he didn't know if the Vaccine would really work or not. He didn't find out till the end when the lady was cured.
For me the saddest movies are I am Legend, Click and parts of the Lord Of the Rings like the ending when Frodo left.
Into the wild is a very sad depressing yet great film. AndrewStar101
I just watched it and can determine it is one of the greatest movies ever made, and it is indeed sad
