I was watching this documentary on Hate today, Westboro, Neo-Nazi's and all sorts of fun..........they talk about culture and how humans need culture to believe that they are special and there is a meaning to everything. I guess that's the same reason people believe in deities, they need that comfort, the reality of a cold insignificant world is too much to bare, i don't blame them. I have Hubble's deepest field poster above my bed :D Doesn't it remind me you of how meaningless you really are? Heck if the dinosaurs weren't wiped out, what was stopping them from eating us for dinner? There have been about 5 mass extinctions on the planet no? So how do you think you are special? Because you can BBQ, get in your fancy car, leave your fancy house and go watch Cam Newton tear up the Oregon defense? "There just has to be a big plan to all of it, there just has to!!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEheh1BH34Q - Watch this and answer my questions theists... If a god created all this why did he in put us a tiny tiny tiny planet and bothers messing with the climate and our lives, when he has such a big universe to f*** around with? If you say something can't come out of nothing then who created god? If no one created him, he came out of nothing - a contradiction to the previous statement, if he was always there and the universe is 13.7 billion years old (or 10,000 according to the bible) the wtf happened with him, he suddenly got bored and created a whole universe? Even if there is/was a deity who created the universe he certainly isn't your god (the one who "answers" your prayers and |punishes" bad people to eternal damnation)... Like Tyler Durden said: We are God's unwanted children :) That certainly would be the case with us if there is a god. Oh, and the questions were rhetorical as i was making a point... But you can try and answer it :)

Wouldn't you be saddened if you (at least believe) that you know life changing and eternally perfect truth and other do not accept it? Try to wear his shoes for a minute. In any religious person's view, yes, there is something wrong with atheism.

... No.. I accept the fact that people have difference of opinions from my self.. I hope for such a thing, because the world would be boring if we all agreed on things.. The fact of the matter is people of Atheist standing should not be treated like lepers.. Saddened? How about people showing humility that their way may not be the way for others.. For a religion that claims often times (regardless of the religion) to show humility, many followers sure seem to illustrate a clear lack of it.

What I'm amazed at is why you felt the need to bring God into this and why I am talking about him right now. The universe is pretty amazing though. Randomness and chemical reactions do wonders over the course of billions of years.

Or... it just makes one realize how amazing the universe is. Or it just makes one realize that perhaps "God" is just a personification of the universe and that sense of "awe" people feel when "in the presence of God" is the same feeling everyone feels when contemplating the vastness of our universe and the impotence of our personal existence.

Do you wish for there to be a large population of people who think that 1 + 1 = 3?

Do you wish for it to be politically un-correct to ever say that 1 + 1 = 2 or to say that the people who believe 1 + 1 = 3 are wrong because it would offend those who have different opinions?

Would you be saddened if the majority of OT believed that 1 + 1 = 3?

The scale of the Universe made me realise how FAKE God is.

no way could he have created all of this.

see, this logic works both ways
