When I was in highschool, all I would hear about was how hard college is, how teachers won't take crap anymore, how you write 50 page papers every week etc..

Now I'm not a smarty pants or anything, I simply just do what's required -- so here's the breakdown of my spring semester of college:

16 credit hours (5 coursess):

Introductory course to Java programming
Speech communications
Intermediate Japanese
PreCalc (trig)
Asian History (1600s+)

Average of 2 hours a week of homework/studying

= Straight 'B's

Sure there was a few nights where I had to write a paper in a night, or cram for a test -- but that is the honest average.

Will it get harder as I progress to harder ****s and my major? Definately. Is it unbearable? Please...

Now that I know my limits and requirements, I'll be sure to get straight 'A's next year.

I never understood why I so many people make such a big deal about all the "work" they put into their education. It's essentially doing whatever mundane BS the teacher deems necessary.

I'm a junior in High School and I get straight As. Those classes seem rediculously easy. Stop bragging, you don't apply yourself. You obviously don't value education as much as other people. Get over yourself.

Asian history and intermediate Japanese? I do hope you're not some silly little anime fan who thinks being able to understand anime and japanese rpg's without subtitles is cool/worth it? No offence, just.. I laugh at people who are like that (though i'm not saying you are, just.. the courses you're taking...)

When you consider how many people graduate college you shoulden't expect it to be that hard.. go into something math or science based if everything is so easy. :D

You have a very flawed understanding of society if you think that's true.

And people, taking a science/math isn't hard. You just need the mind for it.

ima freshman so i wouldnt be jumping into high level courses now would i? i go to Northern Illinois University. I'm not so much bragging as I am simply trying to show people that jumping into college isn't such a big step. i also clearly stated that it was going to harder as i progress.

They do, but the amount of work is not the same. Math was a breeze for me when I was young and I placed in a math competition during high school, but I'm working for my B in Calc 2.

While I'll admit high school is easy, try going into a radiology university course or cognitive psychology. Not only will it break your marks and your brain, but also your bank account :(

Well, you know, for someone who's been studying Japanese and history for so long, I find it appalling you found Japanese history to be so interesting when Chinese, Scythian, and Islamic culture is a much more gratifying field of study ;)

No **** it's easy, look at the cla$ses you're taking! I dare you to take some chemistry and physics cla$$es, you'll be singing a different tune when you're working with Quantum Mechanics. And look at the math you're in! I was taking trig when I was 10th grade.

Generally, I'd say the humanities are easier than the sciences. I switched majors from Chemical Engineering to English, and saw a significant stress reduction.

But even English. Take a cla$$ on Milton or the Canterbury Tales and you won't be boasting about how easy college is. And you don't even have a 3.5+ GPA!

tl;dr, you're a pompous freshman, have fun and grow up eventually.

It is, people do that at every level.

At the end of elementary, they tell you Middle school will be no joke(Easiest 3 years of my life)

At the end of middle school, they tell you high school will be no joke, only failed about 2 classes, Spanish 1, Intro to Law, and Algebra 2 which I didn't fail because of bad work, I made a mistake and threw my teacher's book out of the window and me a him kept catching conflict since that day on.

When I graduated Highschool they said... College will be no joke, and lets just say everyone here isn't exactly Einstein.

It can be easy or hard depending on the major. I'm in engineering so I have to put in a lot of time and effort into my classes. Last semester I took a class with a lab that required 15-20 hours a week.

School is easy.... I do my work really late that's how I know. Also, I still get it done in an hour around 1 AM.

I don't take study time so I get like B's.

You are taking freshman blowoff classes. You should have straight A's not straight B's. If you aren't making A's in your on major freshman classes in a school that isn't really really hard you should either change majors or start studying, because you are in for a surprise later if you keep going like that.

From what i've noticed from sixth form you'll quite often have periods with cvery little work to do but you'll get all the work suddenly at once. You'll have a project to do in Java right before you do a japanese oral test and an essay on history. It seems like all the subjects run on the same coursework time table.

*looks at responses of BS subjects* *looks back at subjects* Trig is classed as a college subject, over here that's tenth grade material, i was well into calculus when i finished HS. Oh and 'speech communications' that sounds just like BizCom which is another BS subject.
