Schoolgirl is 'trolled to death' at ask.fm

I finally had to sit down with my mom and told her that the internet isnt real.  Not really real.  It sort of exists between the reality between cartoons and reality.

Are cartoons real? Sure, but theyre also not.

I also explained to her that it is also the last bastion of anonymity, and that this is incredibly important in a world where the last free luxury (privacy) is quickly disappearing.

So, ultimately, don't take anything on the internet seriously.  And if you do, take it with a grain of salt.  Especially if it is coming directly from people.

And don't feed trolls, I thought everyone knew that.  Sheesh.

To "beat" a kid bears a considerably harsher meaning than "spank." If you don't care for the word, fine, but "beat" really wasn't a good alternative.

I feel sorry for the parents loss it can never be asy to lose a child no matter what the circumstances.

What i dont understand though is how a person can become so upset that an anonymous, faceless person on the internet doesn't like them, its not like they can reach out and actually harm them so who cares what anybody on the internet thinks.

Maybe im out of touch these days but it all seems completely ridiculous to me that a person could go as far as actually killing themselves over someone you've never met, never seen, never spoken to, never heard or indeed had any contact with whatsoever other than a nickname on a stupid website.

Kids should go outside and interact with real people more, it would teach them that faceless internet abuse is completely irrelevent and trivial and certainly not somethin to kill yourself over:shock:

HA HA no, I familar with how the internet works bro. But it seems trolling has gotten out of hand to the point where even news stations like CNN and Fox are actually reporting on stories using the term trolls.  I mean generally, trolls where just people posting stuff to get people mad on the internet for the lulz but now with teens getting cyberbullied and troll to the point of taking their own life, its an issue.  I admit I troll on here sometimes, and on XBL (teamkilling and friendly trash talk) but nothing serious like harrasing people to kill themselves etc.
