Are you aware that a machine gun is simply a rifle that fires pistol rounds? I'm pretty sure a rifle is more powerful.I voted sub-machine-gun. Shotguns are slow. Assault rifles will just poke little holes in the zombies. Imagine the amount of damage you could do with a Thompson.

Tier 1: SMG
Tier 2 Auto shotty.
Though I use the Sniper mostly nowadays. So pro.
noob >_> i haven't even tried the sniper rifle in l4d2 yet :Smolotov for big huge muscle bound zombies, pipe bombs for all else :)JandurinI think we need to meet up in the event of a zombie apocalypse. My gf is also experienced with this. Do you have one more to round out the group? I say we meet in Rockville Town Center if this ever happens.

I will probably have to put her down right away just to be safe.

Tell me if you need help with your wife in that event.

Plump her up a bit... that way it will look like an accident when she falls behind.
What about an assault shotgun? Yes, shotguns that were designed to be used for assault are refered to asassault shotguns. Just like rifles that were designed to be used for assault are assault rifles.
Anything that is fully automatic and sub sized in comparison to belt fed machine gunis... a sub-machinegun. Type of ammunition isn't relevant. An M16 doesn't qualify as alight machinegun because it'snot heavy enough. It's sub weight & sub sizedin comparison others. It's both a rifle and a sub machine gun. Just like the MP5 is a carbine which is a short rifle. Therefore it's both a rifle and a sub machine gun. And since it was designed for assault that make it a assault rifle.
I wouldn't choose a shotgun because the ammunition is way too heavy. .223/5.56x45mm is very powerful ammunition and it's very light. about 60 rounds of .233 weights the same as 5 shotgun shells. So one of those full auto AR-15 pistols would be great. You know the one with the 9 inch barrel and cut reciever. The one that makes the MP5A2 & A4 look like and over-sized piece of 9mm junk.
In video games Assualt Rifle. In real life Shotgun. In a zombie apocalypse would u have a assualt rife or a shotgun or a submachine gun?

Sub machine. I'm not a weapons expert and sub machine is easiest to use. Too bad they go through their magazine in like 2 secs.
Zombie scenarios are stupid anyway. How do zombies overrun a society when people have defeated forces that were actually hard to kill. Using small arms against a large numbers of opposition is pointless. You break out the grenades. Mortared grenades, rocket proppelled grenades, hand thrown grenades mined grenades. A grenadier has all of the goodtoys. To hell with fragmation go with the airburst and concusion.
The only reason low powered machine guns exists is because when they were first designeddevelopers didn't have the technology to build a sub machine gun that could tolerate high powered ammo and that's why the 7.62x62 was cut down to a 7.62x51 so the M14 could be a high powered rifleand still fire high powered rounds on full auto. Same reason why the AK has a cut down round. Same reason why .30 caliber is no longer the standard in assaultriflecaliber. It's now .22 more specifically .223 A.K.A 5.56x45mm NATO. With Rounds such as this you can have a high powered rifle and sub machine gun all in one device. No more need for a rifle or carbinethat chamberspistol ammunition.
The assault rifles of the time such as the M1 Garand and Mauser supported rounds that were just too powerful to be fired full auto in a rifle that light. Machine pistols and pistol caliber sub machine guns still exists for special purpose. They are easy to use with one hand if you are a vehicle or aircraft operator. Theammunition islow velocity so there is no risk of collateral damage. The round stops when it it hits something. During one time the Special Forces favored the MP5 because it was the lightest most compact carbine they could find and a lot of their work hadthe sameparameters as SWAT missions. Hostage rescues.

not really so stupid. A city with a population 150k people can yield 75k zombies in a matter of hours.
So yes, they are stupid, but this is offset by the fact they "reproduce" so quickly.
Add to this the fact that you need a headshot to kill them, and they are a persistant, tough foe to kill.
I agree with the idea of explosives and mortors, etc, though
