[QUOTE="spazzx625"]So get treatment...Dark-Sithious

I already did and it didn't help.

Just close this thread man, I have now asked this question somewhere else and am getting help.

Are you insinuating that you didn't get qualified help from the OT? :x

People are flaming me and they don't even know how bad my mental disability is.
It's okay though, I can always ask other places.

[QUOTE="mattykovax"]Let me explain something. I have a genetic mutation that causes my blood to clot for no reason. They found out when it almost killed me. If I do not take my meds it will kill me. The medication is warfarin, which is an anticoagulant. The amounts I have to take effectively turn me into a hemopheliac. I am not even supposed to shave myself or clip my own nails. If I bump myself and get a bruise I am supposed to immediatly go to the hospital in case of internal bleeding, and a whole host of other things. I cannot even eat green vegtables(my favorite) because it has a vitamin that thickens the blood. And I cannot get disability. So no, I am not overly concerned about anxiety. especially considering by your own admission you will not further therapy or medical treatment for it. This is not flaming, its fact.mattykovax

Might I ask, who is your daddy and what does he do?

His name is bill and he rests in the cemetery.

Oh, that would have been anawkard conversation. I apologize for my rudeness.

What I wanted to know is, what do you do? But then I remembered that Arnold quote :P

We're not flaming you, we're telling you what to do, instead of sitting on your butt and not doing anything about it. I have two mental illnesses, if not more, and I'm pumped up on medicine and I cry nearly daily. If I suffered from anxiety alone, I would have a job, but I don't *just* have that. Now, please, stop with the self-pity and MOVE YOUR BUTT!

If you have a disability then you should seek help. If you are not satisfied with the first doctor seek a second. But I see no reason for you to just give up and get disability.....which as I stated earlier is not handed out like candy at halloween. It's possible you don't qualify.

Well, I did see some good advice, you could try and get disability money, and do some volunteer work, then if you get better you can try to get a paid job

People get pretty miserable if they don't have a job, they feel somewhat useless, I didn't work for 3 months once, and it wasn't the happiest time of my life to say the least.

I doubt they will take your claim very seriously. It is not a disability and there are many more deserving people that don't get money so just try harder. Good luck.

Well if someone has a disability they can get money each month, so should I try to get money that way or get a job??
Anxiety is a disability and I've had bad anxiety ever since I was a kid, so could I get disability money??

Don't say I should get therapy cause I've already had therapy a few times and it never helped.

joshrocks2245

Wow, a "few times". Yep you've really exhausted that avenue.

It can be serious. I didn't say it wasn't but for your own sake you should get some help. It may surprise you in the end....

he's said it several times. Anxiety. And it's pretty common, and I think all of us have told him more or less to get a job.

If your illness is that serious than it is all the more reason to actually do something to remedy the problem instead of just giving up and not doing anything. The situation isn't going to improve on its own, if anything it will only get worse.

Yep, this is the truth. Sitting on your ass and expecting it to go away on it's own leads to nothing. Only one can pick up the fight for you, and that's yourself. If you want change, grab life by the reins.

Apparantly he doesn't want the help, and especially not the free help he can give himself.

No one is flaming you. We are giving advice you do not like, but no one is directly insulting you, which is flaming. If there is anyone you feel is directly insulting you, then thats what the report option is for. As for your question about what to do if you cannot get disability or a job, thats wherew therapy helps. You need a medical opinion to get disability in the first place, and if you do not get it then you can work on your issues and maybe have medication that will help you find a job.

I really don't want to take medication, I'll be fine if I get a job and just try to keep it, then I'll probably feel better.

The only thing is if I lose that job my problems come back, so I just have to find a job I really like and I'll try just to stay at it.

You do ask for threads to be locked. I suggest if you want it to die then ignore it and it'll go down the page.

Most medicine can help but I really don't want to stay on some meds for the rest of my life. I would much rather prefer to work at a job I didn't like then be on meds forever, sorry I overreacted though.

Sometimes the medicine is needed to keep the chemical balance in the brain though. Just try to find the minimum amount and less invasive medicine to get you on track.

I really don't want to take medication, I'll be fine if I get a job and just try to keep it, then I'll probably feel better.

The only thing is if I lose that job my problems come back, so I just have to find a job I really like and I'll try just to stay at it.

joshrocks2245

Medicine really helps, but of course, that's up to the individual.

Most medicine can help but I really don't want to stay on some meds for the rest of my life. I would much rather prefer to work at a job I didn't like then be on meds forever, sorry I overreacted though.

Well, medicine isn't a death sentence. And not everyone has to be on them "forever". If you have been diagnosed with anxiety, something is wrong with your brain. The medicine gives the brain time to heal, and makes sure you have everything you need in your head.

Medicine will help your brain level itself out and therapy helps you learn how to cope without medication...Together they will help. Life isn't always about taking the easy way out, you'll have to work at something like this if you want to actually make things better for yourself.

Not to mention that getting disability requires a doctor saying he can't be helped. If he's not on medicine they won't say that.

Well I could try medicne, I don't know though..
I was never trying to take the easy way out, I've just had anxiety my whole life and no therapist ever helped.

I think I just need to find a job that isn't stressfull and I'll be fine. The worst problem I have is OCD, I know lots of people have this but OCD is hard to control.
I just was asking this here also because I can't really ask my dad, he would probably think it's weird to go on disability for having anxiety.

Ah the OT threads, full of little gems like this guy who wants us to pay for his life with our tax dollars. Luckily my job is a piece of cake. I was actually thinking of getting another job that i could do while i'm at this job lol. The only downside of that though is that I wouldn't be able to make fun of people like you on the forums.

Seriously though, get a job. I think society these days allows too many excuses for incompetence; "I have ADHD because I don't like putting in effort to study, give me an easy time in school so that when I finish I can go on disability and mooch off people who actually make an effort.", "I'm depressed boo hoo nobody likes me, give me attention, give me money because nobody likes me enough to hire me.", or in your case, "I'm a whiney loser who is too afraid to step outside the comfort of my parent's house, give me money."

I realize there are undoubtedly extreme cases where people should be entitled to disability but people just abuse the system and find any excuse for their incompetence.

Sorry for being so rude about it but you honestly need a reality check. If you go on disability you are basically giving up on life and deciding to just do nothing with it.

EtherealFire

Also I want to tell you having anxiety isn't easy to live with if you've had it since you were a young kid.
Trust me I wouldn't abuse the system, if a person leaves their house only once a month and can't keep a job without making tons of enemies and not getting along with no one, don't you think that is pretty bad?? I won't give up, but I mean it's hard to keep a job sometimes, and it's also hard to find a job that is not stressful.

Yeah maybe, OCD isn't a good thing though. Maybe if it wasn't sereve are mine was, then I could be productive and be able to live with it, but it's not easy :o

Another reason I dislike going to therapy is some people think when a guy goes to therapy he is being a wussy or they think that guy is crazy or something.

Yeah but instead of accepting it....you could beat it or at least limit it's ability to overwhelm you. And if you don't like going out.....try getting a job working from home. Disability doesn't pay that great. Find something you enjoy doing and make some money at it.

Wow I'm only level 3 and I've already received like 4 warnings for violating the terms of use. I will therefore refrain from "annoying/offending" you anymore on this thread. Best of luck in dealing with your anxiety.

Yeah I know I may try to find a job by doing something at home.
I may try to get help too though, just letting my problems go on longer has made them worse.

I find that if I get distracted with doing like lots of work, then my OCD and everything kind of goes away. I just really should find a job that makes me work hard, and I should try to keep the job.

I just have the feeling I won't be able to keep any jobs because last year I worked at burger king for only 1 day and quit because I really hated it. If I just would have stayed I would have got better.
There was some idiots working there and those kind of people really get to me >_>

I never reported you or anything though.
I think your message was kind of offensive though, but I understand why you think it wouldn't be good to go on disability.
You should also know it's hard to live with anxiety, but I'll deal with it.

Sorry if you got modded though, I never reported you.

Depression, anxiety, OCD, etc. are all rough things to deal with, but you have to make the choice to overcome them and not let yourself be bound to the disorders. I was suffering from severe depression at one point-- kept pushing people away, was worried that everyone was gonna leave me behind, and some days didn't want to do anything, because it was more comfortable and less threatening to stay inside. Yet, even during the bad times and months of intense counseling, I managed to hold a job and stay off of medication. I'm proof that it can be overcome.

I should probably get counseling, before when I got counseling I only seen the therapists for like a few weeks. I just have it in my head that they won't be able to help when I seen them before, thats probably why I never got better.

If you let problems go on for years and years and never get good treatment, isn't that kind of bad? Thats what I did, and I guess that was kind of a mistake.
I just hope theres a good therapist around here, cause I really never want to be on medication.

Face your problems. For gods sake I'm sick of people looking for the easiest way out in life.. All I can say is, if you collect disability, don't you dare EVER complain about taxes.
