Over at chow.com, there is a article asking this question. I personanly belive that a theate should allow it. Do to they only offering overpriced, stale, and unhealthy foods. What does everyone else think?

No. The theatre is not a restaurant nor a picnic park. If anything, they should stop selling food.Neon-Tiger
Umm... i disagree, but whatever.
as a movie-goer (when i can be assed going to said movie) im of course going to say "yes! i liek bringing in outside food"
but of course if they did it would be Minus profit for them... and possiblly Minus movie cinema for me.
I just bring my own food, they dont search napsacks and purses. I can't go two hours without a drink, and i'm not gonna pay their prices because of that.
No sooner than you'd be able to walk into a baseball or football game with your own food and drink. I don't know why people always consider movie theaters to be the exception, but it wouldn't be acceptable to bring in your own food anywhere else. Would you walk into a restaurant with a lunchbox?
I go w/ the out of sight out of mind philosophy on this. What the movie theater doesn't know doesn't hurt them. I've been to a few theaters w/ decently priced food, and I'll support that, but for the most part I just don't eat, and rarely I happen to have something w/ me already.
if the theater allows people to do that, then sure. but if they don't allow it, then no, if people want something to eat there, they should have to buy it from the concession stand. i used to work at a movie theater, and one of my managers told me the theaters make hardly any money from ticket sales, it's mostly from people buying stuff from the concession stand. if everyone brought their own food, the theaters wouldn't make any money.
I don't want to hear people eating nachos or anything like that.
Just continue to sneak in small food like we've been doing for years. I still sneak in soda and candy. I am not paying for that overpriced crap they have.
I usually watch movies at home, and even then I don't really eat snacks...If I do go to the movie, I just watch the movie, I don't get popcorn, soda, candy or icey's anyway...
I don't think that trues. IF it was there would be very few people standing in line to order something at the movies.. Which isn't what happens.I just bring my own food, they dont search napsacks and purses. I can't go two hours without a drink, and i'm not gonna pay their prices because of that.

Christ, why do you people need food during a movie at all?! Almost as bad as that yokel that was telling me how he brought Pizza into the cinema. Just watch the damn movie lol ;) biggest_loser
It should be allowed. You pay a ridiculous amount of money to get in, you shouldn't have to buy their overpriced food, as well. You also shouldn't have to sit through 20 minutes of preveiws and commercials. You pay around 9 or 10 bucks a head to see the movie, and putting you through the preveiws is wrong.
I remember before they even had commercials before the previews. It was nice (as I like previews, generally). I remember the first commercial I saw in a theater (it was a Coke commercial). I remember thinking, "Dear god. The floodgates have been opened."It should be allowed. You pay a ridiculous amount of money to get in, you shouldn't have to buy their overpriced food, as well. Well, this is kind of a mixed bag. On one hand you have more expensive tickets, if you reduce the profits from snacks. On the other hand, I really like to not to have to pay $6 for a soda. Depending on the movie, sometimes I don't want a drink/popcorn, some times I do. So depending on what mood I'm in at the movie theater usually is my temporary frame of mind :P
EDIT: It's easy to sneak snacks/soda into a theater this time of year...
what if they allowed you to bring your own food for, say, $1-$5 more?If they allow food then my ticket price will go up.
Sneak food in.

[QUOTE="hi_im_dave"]what if they allowed you to bring your own food for, say, $1-$5 more? It would be more than $1 definitely. Probably at least $10 if not more.If they allow food then my ticket price will go up.
Sneak food in.

It's bad enough hearing people munch on their popcorn and slurp their soda. If you're hungry, eat before the movie.
