No, we shouldn't. We don't need another war, we do not have many troops too fight them off and any way it is not our place to.

US can't punish Russia alone, by the time the War is over against Russia US would have a very few troops left (If they start a War).

Oh no, that's horrible! Russia deserves to be nuked for trying to help people! Only the US can help people, Russia is not allowed to do that! After all, we need somebody to fight against. If Russia becomes good, than who will we fight?

Is Russia invading the entire Georgian country? You'd think that the Americans at least would understand what's going on in this conflict, as the Americans were the ones who wanted to break away from England and settle their own country and they did it through war for obvious reasons.

They only went to the two regions who wanted to separate themselves from Georgia. They didn't invade any other regions. They only bombed the other regions "tactically"; Unlike Georgia, who bombed to kill as many civilians as possible and raze an entire city.

Why does this keep popping up in every Russia-Georgia thread? There has NEVER been a legitimate vote for independence by South Ossetia.

Ok, that means nobody knows whether they want to be independent or not, officially at least. But after what Georgia did to them, I'm sure the South Ossetians will be pissed and won't trust the Georgian government anymore. It's so obvious that a vote isn't needed anymore.

Would you trust your government if you knew they wanted to kill you and could attack you at any moment? I don't think so.

Russia were wrong to attack Georgia...

But taking the punishment too far could mean disaster for some countries if Russia decided to cut all trading in Oil, Energy and Gas. It's important to show Russia how much everybody comdemns these attacks, but all the smaller allied countries in the east shouldn't get punished as well because of it.

Disinformation campaign being run by the Russian media...clearly it is working.

This isn't about anything other than Russia trying to make an example of what happens to former block nations that try to jump out of Russia's sphere of influence. Why else would they be pushing so hard for a regime change?....Why else would they block any attempt to have non-Russian peace keepers in the region? Roughly 2000 people have died thus far in the conflict (all of which Russia is claiming is directly from Georgia's military...I have news for you...Russia has been bombing and shelling Georgia throughout the conflict. UnknownSniper65

Well, I might change my mind if I see reports of the total Georgian casulties. Right now I didn't see anything that would indicate that Russia killed loads of civilians. But the casulties and damage report from the South Ossetian capital, came in before Russia started bombing inside South Ossetia. So, it would be far fetched to think that it was actually Russia who razed the entire city and killed all the civilians.

Like I said before, the report of estimated 1400 civilian casulties came in BEFORE Russia was involved. This report could be false because Georgia said there were only 100 civilian casulties but Georgia was wrong (or lied) about other things, so I don't trust everything they say.

" I am right and your wrong" - pretty much sums up your response....you didn't even give any logical backing behind your agrument.

I am not saying the US should respond using violence (that is the LAST thing I want),but I do believe that the US should punish Russia in some way (even if it is as minor as boycotting Russia's meeting with NATO members)...or atleast warn Russia it cannot boss its neighbors around
