Lets reverse the situation,
If the United States with no allies, solely on their own based on some token "provocation" invaded Cuba, would there be international repercussions?
I would imagine so.

If you want to reserve the situation, at least stick with the facts:
Cuba invades a part of it controlled and support by the United States, with over 90% of the people holding a US citizenship. 10 US peacekeepers in Cuba are also killed. Us steps in and throws Cuba out of the region. I think Cuba should be punished...Don't you?
no no no let georgia handle this mess we have our own problems trying to end the war in iraq we shouldnt even get involved even if we werent in Iraq right nowNuKkUGeorgia can't handle it. They're being picked on, which is why someone should be standing between them and Russia, but I guess there's not much to gain, though, from helping a country like Georgia.
I don't know, should Russia and the EU have punished the US for invading Iraq? You decide.IlivedLol you can't even compare those.
Hell nah! I think we should punish Georgia, and not that country Georgia that stupid place next to ALABAMA!
/sarcasm(if you didn't catch it)
Not the US alone, but something should be agreed multilaterally. Russia need putting in their place for once.SolidSnake35
Russia > All, they invented Tetris.
God - cant they just keep their nose out of something for once?
As soon as i saw this Russia/Georgia conflict i KNEW america would try to/contemplate getting involved.
If they do get involved, it is only going to lead to more and more problems.
Surely they should take care of their own country first.
Plus, if there is anyone who needs punishing it is the U.S themselves, in my opinion.
RUSSIANS ARE NOT CRAZY COMMUNIST BASTERDS LIKE PEOPLE THINK!!
They are humans and u should understand the reason they stepped into Georgia before u go around saying taht what they did was wrong!
lets say Cuba was shelling a american dominant town in Cuba wouldnt America have the right to object to the killing of inoccent Americans??
Russia didnt just attack cuz they wanted the area to set up a few more brothels!

The United States shouldn't get involved. Georgia attacked South Ossetia, which consists of 90% Russian citizens, what did they expect was going to happen?ElectronicMagic
Jesus, I'm so tired of this argument. South Ossetia is Georgian territory and JUST because they're Russian citizens means they're free to attack Georgia and Georgia has to bend over and take it?

Sourg Ossetia seperated itself from Georgia in the 1990s and elected its own government with its own leader. Over 90% of the people there hae a Russian citizenship as well. Georgia didn't like that and invaded them and actually expected Russia to sit back and do nothing. LOL. What would the US do if a part of Cuba rebelled against Cuba, 90% of them adopted a US citizenship and then Cuba invaded and killed 2000 of them?

Okay? No country recognizes their independence, not even Russia. Anyway, separatist forces attacking Georgia should go unpunished? That because they have big brother watching over their shoulder Georgia forces can't retaliate against attacks?

WHY DOES IT MATTER THAT NOBODY RECOGNIZED THEIR INDEPENDENCE? They deserve to be massacered by Georgia and forced to live under a government they hate cause people won't recognize them? Please.....Georgia also began fyring at seperatists with snipers before the seperatists began shooting back. Even then, Georgia should have used ground invasion and special forces instead of jets and alts...

South Ossetia actually declared independence in 1992, and a couple of years ago asked it's people to vote on if they wanted to be independent or not, I think 99% said yes they wanted to stay independent, 95% voter turn out also. So yeah, Russia had probable cause for wanting to protect it's citizens in South Ossetia.

I'm tired of your argument. Do some damn research and get all the facts before posting. Obviously you think that killing hundreds or even thousands of innocent people is OK. Obviously you don't know that there were a few Russian troops killed by the Georgian attack on South Ossetia.

Because as far as everyone is concerned this is a civil war, one Russia shouldn't have interfered with. If their first election wasn't valid, then they should have held new ones instead of turning to violence. And when has Georgia ever massacred S.O. citizens?

If you're talking about the bombing of the S.O. capital they were given the opportunity to evacuate 3 days prior to the bombings. Russian troops were in the area? Who's fault is that? If you station troops in an area you KNOW is having a conflict.

First of all, you are wrong. He gave everybody, including the separatists, 3 HOURS to evacuate. Second, what you said is irrelevant. Loads of innocent people got killed needlessly regardless of those 3 hours. Do you think that is acceptable? If so, do you think the WTC incident was acceptable as well? Do you think Kosovo was acceptable? What about WW2?

Innocents are killed in every war. Georgia said they were provoked and what do you think is gonna happen if separatist forces KEEP attacking Georgian forces? They got invaded, they were begging for it. Attacking an enemy's capital is NOT a new military tactic.

Georgia has been saying alot of things lately....Them being attacked by a bunch of seperatists justifies the shelling which caused the deaths of 2000 South Ossetians? The smart thing to do would be using its peace keepers stationed in SOuth Ossetia to deal with the problem. Russia actually would have supported them then.

Nuking a country is also "NOT a new military tactic" but we don't do it for very obvious reasons.

What should have happened was Georgia using its peacekeepers with Russian aid against the Seperatists. Instead, they decided to begin shelling the seperatists, killing Russian civillians and turning Russia against them.

I never said they deserved to die. This was just a case of a few of them ruining it for all of them. They've been fighting for a decade, Georgia got tired of it and invaded South Ossetia and innocents died in the process, it happens. And please don't act like you give a crap about innocent civilians in a foreign country you've probably never heard of until a week ago.

What would putting peace keepers there resolve anything? Any Georgian peace keepers stationed there would just be a sitting duck. Russian peace keepers have been stationed there for how long? And how long have the two been going at it?

Eh what else are they going to do when you're fighting a guerilla based armed force? Just let them keep attacking you and when they hop back over to their backyard...you're powerless to persue them? Taking out their capital was a no brainer.
