Should these teens get 5 years in prison?

Kicking a dog = Animal cruelty

Leaving an animal in a hot car = Animal cruelty

Having malnutritioned pets = Animal cruelty

Cooking a cat in the microwave =/= animal cruelty. Its something way more than that.

They should get a hell of a lot more than that. If not for what they did simply because they are whacked in the head and need to be kept away from every other living thing on the planet.

The sad part is they will get 5 years, be out in 2 on good behaviour or time served and eventually kill someone a few years later. The justice system hard at work.

Call me harsh, but I'd happily see them shot by firing squad for something like that. Hell, I'd love to pull the trigger myself.

Put them in a microwave. After you beat the crap out of them and make them work to pay back all of the stuff they vandalized and/or stole.

I feel bad for the owners of the cat, its bad enough to lose a pet to a freak accident, or a rare virus, but to have two kids microwave your cat...I can't even imagine what that would be like.

Probably going to get worse from here on, considering kids around that age are moving from weed to cocaine.

This also makes me wonder why anyone would be crazy enough to be an Lawyer? Especially a defense lawyer. I would bail out of this case immediately if I was the person assigned to defending the kids.

I know they should be. Once they get out of prison in 5 years they will probably either cause harm to more animals, or even cause harm to humans, it is true that most serial killers do torture animals at first.
That is like the first sign of a horrible, evil serial killer.

Edit: WOW. They broke into a house and killed that cat. If I were the owners of that cat I would be outraged I would go bizrk on those kids.

My uncle once told me that some teenagers lose their souls for a short period of time. I think I believe him. That is an absolute disgrace.

I was waiting for this, someone who would say "dont destroy their lives", well they gave those up the second they decided, willingly to kill an animal, it such a cruel way. Once you do something that dumb, that horrible, you give up your life, they knew what they did and they willing took the chance to destroy their lives by doing it, no remorse, its their own fault, why should we worry or care about their lives being ruined when they obviously didnt care themselves.

I think you really need to re-think what you're writing here. I agreed with you up until this - suggesting the boys should be tortured killed over this crime is hypocritical. But what they did WAS absolutely horrible, and these boys do need to be very severely disciplined. Again, the manner in which they killed the cat and the circumstances of its death are incredibly disturbing. It demonstrates quite clearly that these boys have no trouble witnessing suffering for their own amusement, and that, my friend, is exactly the same mentality that most serial killers have. If you can listen to any living being screaming in agony for 10 full minutes then joke about it in the end, you are depraved, and in all likelihood, you are or will become a real menace to society.

That is just sick.

they should definately be sentenced, for how long i dont know, but as long as they are heavily punished, fine by me. And i hope noone claims the whole 'they are young and foolish' thing, because they obviously enjoyed what they did, and because of that, i dont even want to see their faces.
