Should we go to war with Iran?

I feel like there are other means to solving Iran's nuclear problem. A war in Iran will probably end up like a situation in Iraq, will only ecnourage extremism around the Middle East, and will put Iran into chaos for many, many years to come. It will also be super-expensive (obviously).

I make this poll now only because it feels like the war drums are beating in the US and Israel.

I'm feeling isolationist these days. We have other problems besides this. Let Isreal deal with it.

Sure! Why not? It's not like the west hasn't killed dozens of millions of "dirty brown people" over the decades, established and supported corrupt/oppressive totalitarian regimes, etc. Whats a few more million dead Iranians?

I think we need to give war a rest. Honestly, in this modern age we need better resolutions to conflicts than just killing each other.

However we cannot leave that option off of the table anymore. The UN inspectors sent weren't allowed into a lot of the facilities or military bases and couldn't reach any sort of agreement. If they close the straights up, the world would need to react.

It would be have to be a joint action between major western powers to remove the current administration from power. If they continue pursuing weapons of mass destruction, they are only going to cause problems in the future.

The real thing we need to worry about is Israel going crazy and launching some sort of preemptive strike. That would be the second worst case scenario. The worst case would be if Iran does aquire nuclear weapons and threatens to use them. That would be the worst case because now any attempt to take the government down could result in a nuke being used against forces or against Israel.

Well the problem with Israel launching a preemptive strike means they have to go through Iraq, which won't be good.

The reason why Iran wants nukes is so they can level the playfield with Israel. They also have stated how they want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. The current leadership in Iran is dangerous enough to do such a thing. Also, money isn't everything. As you can see, the US forces in afghanstian have had a terrible time trying to deal with the Taliban who have 1/100000th of the funding. If Iran and Israel go to war, the whole Middle East will collapse.

Israel cant wait to get in there but would obviously like US backing, but the Americans do not want to get invloved in something like that especially in an election year and coming off Afghanistan and Iraq.

There was an article on the BBC about there being a high chance of war betwen Iran and Israel by Easter, personally, leave them to it.

Iran, like North Korea starves for attention, but as im sure we have all seen stopping a little bit of oil that doesnt even effect US or Canadian supplies does effect the cost of it, some places in the states charging 4.00 a Gallon and they reckon it will be up to a 1.50 a litre by the summer in Canada.

It's not up to us. It's up to Iran. Iran doesn't have the credibility as a nation to have a nuclear arsenal. Iran itself may never use one, but we're worried about proliferation here. We're worried about terrorists getting their hands on one.

Hopefully my president will still have the balls to do what's necessary if the time comes.
