[QUOTE="Pirate700"]

Here in CA school is optional from age 13+.

lightleggy

but I bet that most parents still obligate their kids to go, which seems fine to me

Parents can only really make their kids go until 16. At 16 you no longer need parental consent to drop out. The state also has a staggering 25% dropout rate, go figure.

No it shouldn't be, cause at this age you don't know what is better for youSQUALL20XX
exactly, no matter what anyone says about how he knows a thousand people who studied what they wanted since they were 5, people will never be like that, and kids will never know what they want

[QUOTE="Nibroc420"][QUOTE="lightleggy"] excuse me, english is not my main language, spanish is, in spanish we dont use the word "billions" we just use "millions", 6k millions of people. and I love how you completly avoid everything I said by saying something like I take fact and numbers out of nowhere...ignore my grammar mistakes and try to debate my points ok? because what you are doing is just the equivalent of saying "ok you pwned me I dont know how to answer so im just going to attack something else and completly evade everything else you said"lightleggy

I'm not going to debate someone who wildly throws numbers around and makes untrue statements. Intelligent discussions require valid points on both sides, you've shown the inability to provide accurate numbers, and claim untrue things as fact. As such there's no sense in having a discussion with you.

I agree with "a discussion requires intelligence from both parts" so right now, im not discussing, im pwning you and you just proved that by completly ignoring what I said above and reposting the same thing you said  keep in your way good sir, and good luck when you turn 18 years old and realize that the career you wanted to study is really not that good and that you should have had more options. seriously, people pretending to be einstein around the internet just fail so hard

Sir, you claimed there were 6 Trillion people on this earth. That is not true. Upon being told this you retracted your statement with an excuse. This is a classic move by people who have no idea what they're talking about. You're unable to provide accurate numbers, and you've proven this. As such any further discussion i have with you will leave me questioning every single number/fact you provide. You're unable to provide valid points, and retract statements upon them being proven untrue. Because of this any further discussion with you would ultimately end up with me in a constant state of facepalm while i correct everything you say to make it truthful and accurate to the real world. This is not the correct way to have an intelligent discussion, and so i'll go elsewhere to find someone intelligent to have such a discussion with.

Please, I ask something of you: if you say you wont discuss anymore, stop quoting me ok? now, just because im really bored. I will clarify something: you said the thing about how I claimed there wer 6 trillion people in the world, and you didnt answered ANYTHING ELSE of what I said. then I answered you: the reason why I said "6k billions" was because english is not my main language, and that in my main language, we dont use the word "billions" so that I was confused with the word conversion (saying that somebody is stupid for not knowing a certian language would be saying that stephen hawkings is an idiot just because he doesnt know all the languages in the world) I clarified this, yet you couldnt do anything else but keep saying that I implied there were 6 trillion, which pretty much tells me you have no valid argument to respond to what I said. you also claim that my arguments are false, well sorry to tell you this: but this very much applies to you as well; you cannot prove that you know a lot of people who studied what they always wanted to study...so its pretty much just your word against mine. now think about what I just said kiddo, and dont answer again with some "lol you provided false numbers /ignore everything else you said"

Alright, lets discuss how Jesus has moon parties every day on the moon, and the 9 trillion people on earth were invited, but obama wont make spaceships to fly us all up there. So he's going by himself. Not much of a party if you ask me.

If you'd like to discuss the imaginary, go ahead.

the guy is just trying to piss me off, he think he'll do it by keep saying the numbers thing. he obviously knew that I pwned him since that post, and as soon as he found a crack, he got into it and avoided anything else that I said because he didnt wanted to be publicly pwned, what he didnt realized about is that it was already too late for that

There's no sense in debating with someone who uses Untrue "facts" and numbers to support their claims. If someone's claim is based on numbers that aren't accurate, and "facts" that aren't true, then they have no valid claim, and there is nothing to discuss.

Shouldnt school be optional? I dont think high school should be mandatory to go to. People who dont see going to college in their future shouldnt have to go through high school.

There would be more money and resources to spend on the people who do stay. I think people who dont go to college dont need to learn past what you can learn in 4th or 5th grade.

I guess in a way high school isnt mandatory since you can homeschool.

You really think you can make realistic long term plan when you're 13-14 years old?

Haha i'm done in this thread. You can't have an intelligent discussion with people who's reasoning is based on things that aren't true. You can't say one thing, and go "oh i actually ment this other thing". Understand a point before using it in a discussion is key. He can't understand this. I wont have a discussion with someone whos "facts" are lies, and who's numbers aren't true. Discussions rely on truth, understanding, and reason on both parts. The minute someone bases their argument on something that's not true, i'll come to the conclusion that they don't actually know the truth or they'd say that. In this case he claimed there 9 trillion people on the earth, there isn't, as such i don't know what else he's saying isn't true, and there's no reason to continue the discussion. If you want to have intellectual discussions with people who's stance is based on lies and incorrect figures, go ahead, i prefer to save myself the frustration.

You dont have to learn in homeschool. Homeschool just means your parents are in full responsibility of your education.

Thats a bunch of crap, from being homeschooled for half of my schooling, i learned and had alot more work than i ever did in the poor excuse of a school system the us has.

[QUOTE="Agent-Zero"]1. Kids are too young to make the decision regarding such an important matter. 2. People are dumb enough with school; imagine without 3. You still have to learn in homeschool.slipknot0129

You dont have to learn in homeschool. Homeschool just means your parents are in full responsibility of your education.

Actually yeah you do, they're tests/evaluations etc.

[QUOTE="Mafiree"][QUOTE="Nibroc420"] Haha i'm done in this thread. If you want to have intellectual discussions with people who's stance is based on lies and incorrect figures, go ahead, i prefer to save myself the frustration.Nibroc420

Oh I'm sorry English must be my second language, as such i can't tell the difference between the two, please forgive me

Why is it so hard to believe that it realy was just a basic language problem?

In many languages, saying 6000 million would be perfectly acceptable. So he was thinking in one language, but accidentally confused it with enligh terminology while he was typing, hence why he wrote 6k billion.

And I stand by what said. If his argument was really as flawed as you seemed to think it was earlier on, you could have still destroyed his point by now. But instead, you insisted on focusing on what's really a minor mistake he made in his post.

Nah, in my state I'm nearly sure you're put back into the public school system after 1-2 years if you fail to turn in any of your work and pass an evaluation done by a 3rd party teacher.

Agreed, however i didn't choose that route. I found the route most fun and took that one. BTW if anyone wants to discuss a Moon-Party with Jesus and the supposed 6 trillion inhabitants of the earth I'm all ears.

the guy just wants to mess with the whole forum, he knows I crushed him and since he didnt had anything good to say he just attacked the numbers thing and kept on saying it...if you look at his post...they are pretty much the same, he always said the same, all of them after the numbers thing were the "you claimed this, innacurate numbers, no worth arguing, blablabla" and repeated that until his last post.

and even when you use his own logic against him, for example when I told him that the unnacurate facts thing also applies to him, he just avoided that and continued to talk about the numbers

Absolutely not. Like it or not, education is an essential component of keeping our complex society operational. Young people will too often make a poor decision to leave school early, and as much as people like to trumpet the few examples of individuals who drop out and still accomplish wonderful things in life, most of these people end up being abject failures. Children and teenagers can not be reasonably expected to always make decisions which are in their best interests, and so it would be irresponsible on the part of adults to give them the choice not to work until they're a bit older - old enough to understand the value of their education.

School (public or home schooled) should be mandatory until one is 18 period. Still, there are uneducated individuals who have graduated and have moved on to college and are just as uneducated 4 years later. Children cannot make reliable and well informed decisions (and courts have continually backed this up by not charging kids with felony murder when they had committed such) or be aware of what said decision means. Also, I do not want to support those who couldn't stay in school due to their inability to get a job. We have enough people on welfare here in the US as it is, we do not need more on said welfare rolls.
