Are fires going to be set and old people beaten bloody if I don't answer right?
Cuz, y'know, there has been some of that about lately.
No, I am not happy that Trump was elected to be President of the United States. I find it quite disturbing that someone of that character could be voted in. It leaves me with a number of concerns for the future.
I am glad that a Republican won the white house and it will be interesting to follow Trump´s presidency. Clinton would have been status quo and a huge setback for the supreme court, since it would have been liberal judge appointed. At least now we may see another Scalia.
No.
I'm more worried about the fact that people could vote for a known racist and blatant sexist than I am about his actual presidency. Trump is just one man, albeit now the most powerful in the world but the fact that he has a huge and nasty following is what's scary.

Yeah, what a tragedy a fine upstanding trustworthy person like Hillary Clinton didn't win.
@Riverwolf007: I did not say that but good attempt at trying to put words in my mouth.
"I find it quite disturbing that someone of that character could be voted in"
What was the alternative?
No, bad move. I've accepted it now (nothing else I can do), but it will prove to be a mistake. His election immediately caused countries around the world to lose even more respect and confidence in the United States, and that's not coming back. The United States has accelerated it's demise as a world power.
The 80's and 90's were the U.S at the peak of its greatness. I still love this country but I have no faith in the American people, as a whole we really are as clueless as Europeans think we are.
I've been trying to remain optimistic and supportive of our government but it is becoming increasingly more difficult as he puts his transitional team together. And those on the list of possible cabinet positions is really starting to worry me. I mean Myron Ebell? Could he have chosen somebody worse to head his environmental transition team?
@Riverwolf007:
Hillary is a saint compared to the douchebag called Trump. Not to mention she was ready and capable of being president. Trump talks a good game, but once he realizes what the presidency entails I think he will be overwhelmed and won't be able to handle it. Scary.
He will probably let his cabinet handle his presidency, even more scary when you look at the clowns he wants in there!

Good luck getting through life with that kind of nonsense rattling around in that melon.
@Riverwolf007: Hillary would have been much better then Trump by far but I didn't say that she was trustworthy, in fact my comment didn't say anything about her at all. I simply said that I found it quite troubling that someone like Donald Trump who has such an abhorrent character was able to be voted in as President. So no I am not happy about that.

You make it about character but wanted Hillary?
Are you listening to what you are saying?
@Riverwolf007: why are you blind to Trumps overwhelmingly bad character. Hillary is awful as well but does that actually make you see Trump as a decent person? Madness. Not long ago we were all in agreement about how awful the two of these were but you seem to be taking an awful shine to Trump now that he's won.
@Riverwolf007:
Trump is EVERY bit as bad a character as Hillary, probably worse. The difference is, he is not ready to handle the presidency and she was. But you guys didn't think about that and elected that clown anyways. I can proudly say I didn't.
The question is....are you listening to what you are saying?
I'm telling it like it is there dude, whether your mind can handle the truth is another matter. I should post a Nicholson pic here.
@SexyJazzCat:
A dangerous precedent, it means anyone famous with no experience can be elected as leader of the free world......yep, Americans are that dense
I wouldn't say that. If Trump went against almost any other Democrat (especially Bernie Sanders), he probably would have lost. Since Trump's opponent happened to be going through an FBI investigation during the race, it really hurt her chances.
I think that this election showed us that people are less forgiving of accusations of misconduct more than that people may be closet racists and sexists, especially since the people that did vote Trump in because they were racist are going to be disappointed when he doesn't try to bring us back to the Jim Crow era.

Yeah, What a tragedy "your" upstanding forthright candidate didn't make it in.
Nonetheless. looking at the Clinton Foundation’s donor list, Saudi Arabia gave between $10 million and $25 million. But the foundation reported the Saudi money in December 2008, and the amount hasn’t changed since. Clinton Foundation spokesman Brian Cookstra pointed out that Saudi Arabia did not give to the foundation while Secretary Clinton was at the State Department.
The foundation has also taken between $1 million and $5 million each from United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman. As The Wall Street Journal reported, several of these donations came in 2014, after Clinton's tenure at the State Department.

I'm sure she would have been busting her ass to make the things you care about happen.

You don't get in a position of power like that without being a pretty terrible person over the years.
The question is where do you want that horribleness beholden to.
I'm interested to see if he manages to do any better in any capacity as President than a more traditional selection. I'm at least willing to give him the opportunity to prove himself once he's in the chair than immediately consider him awful.
@Riverwolf007:
I could go on and on and on about Trump's character, the latest being his contact with the Russians this whole campaign. This clown is getting the most highly classified intelligence briefings now and he's good buddies with Putin cause Putins nice to him. Oh my! Trump's mental capacities are arrested at the 3rd grade level.
Again, I accept his presidency but it was a HUGE mistake electing him. I do still think Comey played a big part in his victory, that was calculated to swing the votes. Then, when enough were swayed to Trump, he closed it to protect himself.

What? A self righteous virtue signaler could go on about someone else's character all day? Really?

For some voters yes.
However, considering Trump won Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, perhaps it's time to realize that Trump won because the Washington elites have ignored the plight of urban and rural poor and that Trump, while an asshole, promised to end TPP and other free trade deals, was seen as a major positive to uplift those out of poverty.
I support free trade. I can spout facts about free trade. Free trade isn't going to feed a laid off worker and his family of three. He can't get another job, college is expensive, trade school is expensive, the rent is rising, and somehow free trade is a good thing for him? Keyword: "him." I agree that there is a racial component but I think it's best to avoid brushing everyone as a closet racist when there is more than what is shown.
@Riverwolf007: Did I say that Hillary has flawless character? No I did not. I simply think that Trump's character is much more heinous. I know exactly what I'm saying. You're the one who seems to be trying to infer something that I haven't said.
No, and him being a Republican has nothing to do with it because I'm an independent. I understand that Americans are angry and rightfully so, but to let that anger blind them to Trumps overall character and history is tragic. It's not like his character issues, bad business practices and overall deeds where rumors, all of the information is available to the public. I know we chose the less of 2 evils, but we still chose evil.
Either way, we just need to move on and hopefully try to heal as a country.

I'm not concerned. Trump's vice president has ample experience in making states great again, and he too is very saintly.
I'm genuinely happy it wasn't Hillary (she shouldn't have been the Democratic nominee).
But Trump, no matter how good his intentions might be, is not a positive step for the country. The few decisions he has already made so far are going to set the country back 75 years overnight.
I am glad that a Republican won the white house and it will be interesting to follow Trump´s presidency. Clinton would have been status quo and a huge setback for the supreme court, since it would have been liberal judge appointed. At least now we may see another Scalia.
i'm curious to know, going forward, what exactly the threshold needs to be for a senate to say "**** you, we need to wait for the next election" when considering a SC nominee.
for example, suppose 2 years into trump presidency another justice passes. can the senate just drag their feet and say "well, the american people need to have a say"? what if it's 1 year, or ( in this last case) 3? it seems the current senate set a pretty fucked up precedent because they were salty about scalia dying.

i think in all seriousness now trump has the obligation to disclose his business dealings in other nations. it is a national security interest at this point.
Why would I not be happy about God Emperor Trump becoming the president of the United States?
#Trumpsenpaipleasenoticeme
@foxhound_fox: I'm curious to know, how do you feel about Justin Trudeau in Canada? I heard he focuses too much on social politics than he does for the economy? Is that true?

And that's fine. I mean we know most of it already, he's does not open a car door without a media barrage so the businesses should not be too difficult to figure out.
This election just kicked the PC crowd straight in the teeth. Of course I am happy. It was always about more than Trump as an individual. Nobody gives a shit about him being incoherent on twitter or other such nonsense. What matters is that we continue to utterly destroy the fascist PC mob. It gets worse and worse as the years go on, but now we finally have a chance to disintegrate it.
@foxhound_fox: I'm curious to know, how do you feel about Justin Trudeau in Canada? I heard he focuses too much on social politics than he does for the economy? Is that true?
I voted Liberal in the last election because the Conservatives were destroying our economy and socially backwards.
Being a social liberal and fiscal conservative, it was a hard decision to make, but a necessary one to effect change for change's sake (isn't this all politics?).
Since his being installed to office, the economy has technically recovered since Harper's exit. But it's still slow on the uptake because of how intricately it is connected to the US, and most major US businesses waiting for the election to finish before making big decisions. In my industry, things are REALLY slow, but it should pick up into Q1 2017.
If anything, Trump should help boost the North American economy, despite his social policies. So long as he delivers on his promises to bring manufacturing jobs back to America. And with that, I am in full support of.

Sounds good! I was a bit worried because of the controversy of the Carbon Tax rules, as well as the rise of the Canadian beer tax rules.
