I'm more worried about the fact that people could vote for a known racist and blatant sexist than I am about his actual presidency. Trump is just one man, albeit now the most powerful in the world but the fact that he has a huge and nasty following is what's scary.

Trump isn't a racist or sexist.

People are just used to SJW standard of walking on eggshells.

"You racist!" is all we hear.

Everything is racist. Microaggressions are racist. It's racist not to vote for Obummer.

All that has happened in this election is that people are using the SAME standard to define racism as minorities do.

If a white cop is suspect because he's white, then a mexican judge can be suspect because he's mexican.

Same exact standard.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

We no longer accept the SJW "victimhood olympics" or privilege-theory or patriarchy-theory.

We no longer go by SJW standards of what constitutes "racism."

And that bothers the heck out of SJW's.

Trump wasn't racist at all when he wouldn't rent to black people. It's just those crazy SJW's at it again. The KKK ( endorsers of Trump) aren't racist either, it's just what the liberul media wants you to think. Trump is going to make it cool for white people to use the N word again and it won't be the least bit racist. He's got Steve Bannon in his ear now so he is going to also learn interesting things about Jews that totally isn't anti-Semitic. I don't understand why these snowflake, cuck, SJW, safe space, gay loving, libtards just don't get it like good real Muricans like you and I do.

No, I'm not. That's not to say I would have been all that thrilled about Hillary either. These were quite possibly the worst two candidates in history for any publicly elected office in the US. On one hand you had a war mongering, obviously corrupt old wench who offers a flippant response while being questioned about the death of Americans and on the other hand you had an orange orangutan who has proven to have little knowledge on what it takes to be president, panders to whomever is in his presence and display the most petulant attitude seen in politics. I could write an essay outlining how unqualified they both were/are for POTUS.

When I went to my polling location I wrote in "No confidence." I should have written "We're fucked."

Yes, it's a win against the language/thought police known as the SJW. It's been said before but flinging terms like racist, misogynist, sexist etc around at every turn really dilutes their meaning and almost normalizes that kind of behavior.

How can anyone be happy about it? Honestly, like John Oliver said, if you felt good walking away from this election after you voted, you have serious problems.

I voted yes. I'm not quite sure why, but I felt kind of elated when I heard the news.

Also, I just want to say, I'm finding all these self-righteous anti-Trump people rather annoying.

Let's give the man a chance. I actually think he'll make a great President.

He's now got Rudy Giuliani explaining that the conflict of interest laws don't apply to the president so he doesn't need to use a blind trust.

Glad to know he's draining the swamp.

I am quite happy that Donald Trump won the election. It was something I expected to happen before the Iowa caucuses in late January regardless of what many people may think. Regardless of the controversies, the polls, and the problems in his campaign, I always believed he will beat the odds and win. He did and history is made.

This is not the first time I made a long prediction that came true as in 1988, I predicted before Spring Training that the Los Angles Dodgers will win the World Series and they did.

Perhaps I have a hidden gift of prophecy.

I did not want the White House to become Bill Clinton's brothel anymore than anyone else. However, seeing it turned into a circus of religious wack jobs, white supremacists and climate deniers is about the worst possible outcome. Any area of policy, I find it hard to believe anyone on the political spectrum could be worse than Trump.

Is it? Left wing political correctness may have gotten a kick in the curb, but overall... no.

Because I am pretty sure the american population just voted the biggest PC police of them all into the white house. Being a right winger does not make someone exempt from being an SJW. In fact that is where some of the most obnoxious SJWs lie.

Let us not forget, Trump is the one who wants to "open up" libel laws, and have openly tried to silence those who speak ill of him.

@FireEmblem_Man: Justin Trudeau is the biggest elected idiot alive. He's never had a full time job and now he leads Canada. His first year as our leader all he's done is travel and donate billions to other countries. Bow he's talking about letting foreigners rebuild our infrastructure and then they can toll them. I would love to have Trump instead of him

Yeah could we make that swap? I mean I'd rather Trump have no position of authority at this point, but still Trudeau is far superiour.

It's quite disturbing to see this whole fiasco handled with such levity and glee. This precedent is frightening. It has been proven that:

1) one of the (if not the) most powerful positions in the world is now essentially an entry-level job with no requirement of political acumen or experience required. Just be a reality TV star. We are going to witness Trump enduring a crash-course in politics while in the height of power. This would be highly amusing if it weren't for the fact we are all going to pay the price. I can only hope this nation is strong enough to endure it.

2) this job can be attained by doing nothing more than being the most vulgar, vile, obnoxious, bigoted, ignorant, intolerant, racist, sexist, misogynistic, classless person who holds the most detestable character and values possible in a person. That all that is needed is to tap into peoples' fears, subdued prejudices and cowardice to get their vote. Think this election was bad? The vermin are going to come out of the woodwork now that it's been shown that the electorate are not interested in things such as respect, dignity, integrity, compassion, empathy. **** those "liberal sissified values!", it's time for the real 'Merica! Our elections from now on are going to devolve into the worst humanity has to offer as our standards has been plunged into the gutter and shown to be acceptable. I mean, why not?

Trump's so far in over his head it's going to be excruciatingly painful (albeit hilarious) to watch him work. Just seeing him meeting Obama in front of the press in the OO had him looking like an uneducated, intimidated 8 year old child attempting to pretend to act dignified and qualified while onstage at Princeton lecturing, trying to address an audience of PhDs five times his age. I can't wait to see him address the nation during times of crisis. Instead of consolation and reassurance we're going to get vindictiveness and a call to chaos and vengeance. Remember, character doesn't matter in a leader! Perhaps his trophy wife may fare better if she doesn't plagiarize speeches. Let's hear some skin-care advice! Plastic surgeon recommendations?? I can't wait!

What a joke.......the U.S. is officially a joke. On the bright side though, SNL is going to be an absolute riot these next four years. That is if Trump doesn't shut it down to protect his fragile, insecure ego.

lol wtf. First of all, a Prime Minister is not "elected", they are appointed by being the leader of the party with the most seats in parliament. Secondly, he was the MP for Papineau since 2008 - 7 years of federal government experience which is 7 years more experience than Donald Trump. Thirdly, dismissing Trudeau's work so far is just ignorant. He has done plenty and is working on more as we speak: https://www.trudeaumetre.ca/

To say these people don't already understand who they are is to make the mistake of not giving them enough credit. They're not dumb, there's no part of them that wishes to reject it, in fact they fully embrace it. They've wanted to embrace it for years and years now, and this election's results have finally granted them the liberty to exercise their prejudices and intolerances unabashedly instead of feeling precluded by the proliferation of SJWs and politically correctness that's been permeating throughout our country for so long.

I can identify and relate to that frustration somewhat, but there's a fine line between being politically incorrect and anti-SJW, and being an intolerant bigot. Trump's extremist antics and rhetoric have conflated the two and enabled people to be the latter while cowardly shielding themselves under the guise of rejecting political correctness so as to justify it. As far as I'm seeing it, Trump has largely succeeded in redefining what is morally acceptable through his rise and influence. The rejection of political correctness is now the go-to cop-out excuse to act in whichever way one sees as suitable.

@MirkoS77: I am probably foolishly clinging to the notion that we are all ultimately good and our own prejudices and ego have lead us astray and that most people can be redeemed and recognize right from wrong if they can get beyond their own plight and see the larger picture, and see the commonality of the plight all races engage in. We are so much more alike than different and our tribal nature no longer suites us. You cannot even define a race considering skin color or other metrics, the overlap defies you. Science cannot draw clear lines. The Human race is a creature that originates from Africa and has evolved to meet the climate conditions we have emigrated to. Racism is absurd. Surely the truth of our common humanity can be recognized by even the most ignorant if shown properly? I think most people's hatred comes from a type of survival instinct and not rational thought. They can be educated I believe. We must try and Trump is not helping.

Why do people, who this type think are weak that worry about social justice, enrage them and make them want to get all ignorant and John Wayne macho about it? What intellectual purpose does it serve? Why do we need the right to say ignorant things about women or minorities? Why does this liberate them? And the opposite oppress them? Do we need to cater to their flaws in order to give them a safe space. I don't think ignorance deserves a space at all. Men and Women are different and we can appreciate that and play our roles, but not to the extent we start oppressing others and calling it right.

The firing of male members of his cabinet to achieve a 50/50 split between the sexes was more than enough to know Trudeau is a clown. Onyl morons use the "because reasons" argument in any fashion, and he loves to do it. The sex with animals thing, is that true? If so, what the shit?!

I don't know. I lack any answers and am mostly left at a loss for words. This election seems to be a license to steal for so many, with a celebration to go alongside it, and the moral compass of this country appears to have no reference point anymore. It'd be one thing if people were celebrating a partisan victory....the triumph of their political principles over ones they object to. Yet there's an additional exuberance to be found by so many in their newfound ability to disrespect and disregard others without compunction here that I'm finding greatly disturbing, and frankly, disgusting. This election's revealed to me that people don't hold values because they actually care for them, but because it is expected of them. Now that it's not? We are seeing the vermin come out of the woodwork.

Looking around these boards and around the net I'm past anger. It's resignation to a very depressing reality. And so many are throwing a party. My heart is honestly a bit broken, and this transcends Hillary, Trump, the establishment, the nation. It has nothing to do with politics at all tbh, that's only the means. It's people. Trump's rise to the presidency has been a damning indictment on the decency of humanity for me, or at least those of the U.S. electorate. And now the truly saddening thing is, people are attempting to normalize Trump, and in it, normalize his morality and character.....aka....drag it into the gutter. I'm sorry, I'm not playing ball. We are so much better than this piece of shit we now call a "president" (at least some of us are). Trump is morally destructive to everything he touches. Now I (and anyone else who stands for decent morals) will be labelled a "libtard, sissified-cucked SJW feminist-enabling pussy" because of it.

**** this country, and **** every Trump supporter.

Already happened. Hell, I have been called a cucked SJW because I accept that climate change is a thing and a problem. Back in the same sex marriage debate days, I was also called one frequently, because appearantly supporting policies which are very commercially viable makes a person an SJW. And having data to prove so... but appearantly according to some, Anecdotes>Actual data.

Couldn't be happier that he won. I felt the cries and tears of liberals and other authoritarian leftists echoing through the force when he won Florida and Pennsylvania.

Hadn't political correctness corrupted everything it could touch, Trump would have stopped his run long before the mainstream even started acknowledging him as a possible presidential candidate. Blaming everything on one side and rejecting any merit his persona has is precisely the reason why he won. People are tired of this bullshit.

I've been called an intolerant bigot who is secretly gay and hates gays for no reason on this very site for saying that I didn't support or oppose gay marriage.

As I just said above here, throwing every ounce of blame on one side is precisely the reason why people started rejecting this rhetoric.

@perfect_blue: Trudeau is a cancer to Canada. They won because the pot legalization promise. I'm 100% anti liberal party and all they stand for. They legalized sex with animals as long as there's no penetration too , that's a great legacy

The firing of male members of his cabinet to achieve a 50/50 split between the sexes was more than enough to know Trudeau is a clown. Onyl morons use the "because reasons" argument in any fashion, and he loves to do it. The sex with animals thing, is that true? If so, what the shit?!

Huh? He didn't fire anyone. He named a 50/50 split for his cabinet since day one. As for the bestiality thing, that was a Supreme Court decision clarifying an existing law - had nothing to do with Trudeau.

The dude you are quoting knows absolutely nothing about Canada, lol at the thought of them winning just because of weed legalization. NDP had that same position in the election and they came third and lost a ton of seats.

Pennsylvania isn't trump land. Just the mouth breathers between civilization that screwed it up. In 4 years it will be blue again.

Is there a reason people need to be intolerant and bigots?

No.

I'm more worried about the fact that people could vote for a known racist and blatant sexist than I am about his actual presidency. Trump is just one man, albeit now the most powerful in the world but the fact that he has a huge and nasty following is what's scary.

According to Democrats all Republicans are racists, xenophobes, homophobes, misogynists, etc. They level those charges against EVERYONE. Unsubstantiated character assassination is the whole of their platform. So I guess what you're really saying is that you're unhappy any non-liberal won.

No, it is human nature. It's called tribalism, and it's precisely what you're doing. "They're the bigots, not me".

And I didn't say it is nor try to pass it off as an excuse. I know it can be overwritten.

Barack Obama's take on the Trump/Brexit phenomenon:

Obama to New Yorker: "Nothing is the end of the world until the end of the world"

On the post-truth society:

The new media ecosystem “means everything is true and nothing is true,” Obama told me later. “An explanation of climate change from a Nobel Prize-winning physicist looks exactly the same on your Facebook page as the denial of climate change by somebody on the Koch brothers’ payroll. And the capacity to disseminate misinformation, wild conspiracy theories, to paint the opposition in wildly negative light without any rebuttal—that has accelerated in ways that much more sharply polarize the electorate and make it very difficult to have a common conversation.”

That marked a decisive change from previous political eras, he maintained. “Ideally, in a democracy, everybody would agree that climate change is the consequence of man-made behavior, because that’s what ninety-nine per cent of scientists tell us,” he said. “And then we would have a debate about how to fix it. That’s how, in the seventies, eighties, and nineties, you had Republicans supporting the Clean Air Act and you had a market-based fix for acid rain rather than a command-and-control approach. So you’d argue about means, but there was a baseline of facts that we could all work off of. And now we just don’t have that.”

On a side note, this phenomenon was predicted by Metal Gear Solid 2 back in 2001:

Flashback: How 'Metal Gear Solid 2' Foretold Our Post-Truth Future

No what I'm doing is looking at a group of people soon to be in power that are bigots and saying the people should be vigilant and not accept negative outcomes for the country. The problem is one side in the equation only cares about being in power....and not what that power can do. Party politics is a cancer.

I've seen some signs that might be abating in the future. I've seen some rumblings from the Breitbart/Fox News/Limbaugh crowd that we need a new news network because nobody fact checks anymore.

Granted, many of these people are the same ones who called fact checkers liberal rags in the recent past so perhaps they're just looking for fact checkers that reinforce what their networks of choice tell them, but I'm holding out hope that perhaps Trump's election has started to erase some of the sheen from the "tell me what I want to hear" news sources.
