Almost every female that I've had any sort of romantic interest in has turned out to have a boyfriend or fiance. I've almost always been the "good guy," and not pursued a relationship with those women. My reasoning is that if they would be willing to cheat on or leave one guy to be with me, what's stopping them from doing it to me? However, I'm starting to get really sick of all the good ones being taken. I may have to rethink things. My new line of reasoning is that people get into relationships too easily, and the woman who is right for me might have fallen into one of those traps as well. It very well may take me coming along and sweeping her off her feet to show her what she should have been holding out for all along.

Later on, they decide to keep dating without moving in together. Your ex could be the same, never wanting to settle down.
