Here's something you don't see every day.:|

There's a guy at my school, and I really like him, though we barely know eachother (yes, I'm a bit of a "stare-in-class" person). I want to ask him out.

Problem: I don't know if he's gay or not. My gaydar recently malfunctioned and I can't figure him out. And it's not as though I can walk up and ask him out. . . if he's straight then there goes a hell of a lot of stuff I don't want gone. I can't ask him, either. Picture that: "Hey, I've been watching you in class and I just wanted to know: are you gay ?" :lol:

So I'm in a bit of a bind, here. I could watch him to see if he gets any boy/girlfriends but then my chance for him will be gone. I really don't know what to do here. Any advice?

He's straight, but he doesn't know it was me watching him, so we can still become friends.

You're best bet is to get the stones and ask him if he wants to hang out or grab lunch or something. If nothing else, it can be a simple friendly gesture. I'm sure if you play the right cards you might be able to get some more info out of it.

Does he act absolutely faboulous? Is he happy all the time? Is he part of the drama group at school? Does he have more female than male friends?

If yes to 2 or more of the above then the answer is clear.

Alright then.

To start, I suggest you become good friends with this person.

It'll be hard to discover if he's gay or not, since some of them tend to hide in the closet about it, and won't admit it up front if they're gay even if they are. Start out slow by doing simple signs of affection towards him; try to hold is hand, for example. If that works, then, after a short while, try giving him a hug. Keep escalating this process until you're at the position you're most comfortable with, it being a kiss or beyond that.

I'm not an expert in such fields, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I think you should get a female friend to ask him out, and see how he respinds to her. If he says yes, then you'll know he likes the ladies, if he says no then maybe he will indicate why such as his preference for guys.
