Well I think step one is to find out his sexual orientation. You can bring up homosexuality jokingly or ask him what his previous relatioinships were like (a girlfriend is not a good sign).

Step two if he's gay Tell him that you are also gay and then ask him out- easy.

just ask him do he wants to get some coffee, ice cream or sodapop. if yes,then converse on stuff like super heros , games,sports and exercise. if you get that far i ganrantee you'll find out if he's gay or not....if you don't get that far then everything happens for a reason. i missed out on plenty of girl crushes in school but i don't think about none of them now.
