So OT, why all the Christian hate lately?

Please tell me I'm not the only one noticing this. When did the Buddhists get off the hook? :?

For real tho, I'm an atheist, and even I can see that the Christian bashing has been in full effect lately. Did I miss something? Are the Republicans at fault? What did Palin do this time? Did some priest get caught again for touching some kid? Is it because "Obama is a socialist"? Did that lesbian couple finally get the prom they deserved? And when are we going to find any proof that the bible is true?

Ironically my fantasy football's team name is THE BABY EATER.....which often offends another in my league who is a devout Christian. I wrecked that fool in playoffs anyways...

By today's standards, alot of people would agree with that. But thats just the way it is.

I do not consider myself christian, but that never stopped me from going on 4 mission trips to the south to work on homes of the victims of capitalism with my local church, of which there are alot of great people.

Really? That's an incredibly ignorant statement. Are you trying to say that groups like the KKK are less evil and hateful than Christianity? This post smells of ignorance. Just because those catholic preists raped those kids, all of Christianity is evil and corrupt?

Religion has done a lot more to this world than you think. How many 'Atheist Missionaries' do you see?

I said, just because SOME (not all) CATHOLIC (one part of christianity) preists raped those kids, doesn't mean all of CHRISTIANITY (the entire religion) is evil.

So the point I was making was that Christianity isn't evil and corrupt just because of some preists.

I'm not saying that all Christians are evil, infact I know a family of them and they're the nicest people in the world.

Well here's what the Catholic Church did that makes them evil in my eyes.

-The persecution and humilation of Jews which eventually led to the Holocaust because the Catholic church has made Jews an easy target.

-The inquisition or the expulsion of Jews.

-Witch hunting which murdered a lot of innocent people.

-The crusades which costs the lives of many innocent Muslims and Jews.

-Condemnation of Galileo and many other pioneers and advancements in science such as anaesthesia for child birth and the small pox vaccine.

-Helping many Nazis (such as Josef Mengele) escape to South America and the Middle East.

-Collaborating with the Nazis.

-And of course the rape and cover up of many children.

And when you say that it is because of religion that many missionaries go out and help people in poor countries, I want to ask a question. Is it because they are doing out of the goodness of their hearts? Or is it because their religion told them to? Because I'm sure there are atheists working in poor countries.

He's a young "hellfire and brimstone preacher."

He's a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (a sister school of my own seminary) who became a foreign missionary for a number of years. Several years ago he preached an evangelistic sermon at a youth ralley which became rather famous on the internet. Every since he has had a following of people who love to here him speak.

He's good at what he does and many have come to know Christ through his messages. He does not shy away from preaching about hell and punishment of sin. I like his work and pretty much agree with what he says, he's just not a pastor I can emotionally handle listening to everyday (and yes, I do regularly listen to several sermons a day).
