I don't mean to defend him but GoT actually is rated slightly higher than Breaking Bad on imdb. GoT also beat out BB in hulu's best tv shows tournament it was having recently.
And I don't see how any of this makes one show better than the other. When the results vary from site to site, the ratings game is downright pointless. At least with MC, you're getting a consensus from professional critics. It wasn't even until season 4 when Breaking Bad received a super high metacritic score. GoT's ratings for season 2 and 3 are still slightly higher than BB s2 and 3. The sites may vary but I do think Game of Thrones has a bigger and more devoted fanbase which is an important thing for a tv show to have.
imbd is irrelevant. Metacritic is the industry standard for review aggregates. Therefor Breaking Bad >>>>>>Game of Thrones.[QUOTE="heeweesRus"]

I hope you don't let metacritic tell you everything you should and shouldn't like.
It seems like you do the same thing with TSPDT/Sight and Sound.EDIT: Holy shit, the idiocy in this thread is astounding.Â

I was using that example in relation to the other poster who said "Breaking Bad is the highest rated tv show ever therefore any other best tv show answer is wrong"
If I ever do bring up those lists it's in defense when somebody says something like "That film isn't notable" "That film was a failure" or "I don't know anybody who likes that movie" For instance I'm not a fan of Requiem for a Dream but I do see it as a notable work in Aronofsky's filmography and can understand why people and critics like it so much.
you can tell that its a great show by the fact that very few women watch it,when something is liked by a big percentage of the female population then something is wrong with it.women should stay to the walking dead or game of thrones

My god am I getting sick of everyone talking about Breaking Bad. We get it, it's a great show, now let me watch the Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy in peace!

I thought season 3 of walking dead (so far, haven't seen it all yet) has been way better than season 2. And yeah, Sons of Anarchy is awesome.

TWD season 3 was good up to the first half, then it took a drastic fall. It still pisses me off that the governor is still alive when they have so much source material from the comics to utilize.[QUOTE="johnd13"][QUOTE="dave123321"] For some Dexter is better overall. I told him BB was not going to be better than Dexter.
Boy was I wrong!
While every season after the 1st of BB was outstanding (and the first season was very good as well), Dexter is spotty, and honestly? The best Seasons of Dexter are the first 2, which are undeniably excellent.
After that Dexter became formulaic and predictable, although Season 4 was excellent as well, largely because of John Lithgows great performance as the Trinity killer. The best part of Season 6 (which was an ok season) was the revelation in the final minute of the last episode. All you really needed from that entire Season.
While i'm just hanging on with Dexter to finish the series, I can't waitfor the rest of Season 5 of BB, and I'm very sad this will be the last season.

Fair enough, and I'm looking forward to the end of BB as well, but for me Dexter is the better series.Breaking Bad is a show that feels like it has an overarching organic arc throughout. The suspense/action doesn't happen until the writing has made a logical buildup. It's a show with balls and encompasses everything that's great about television. It will take an entire episode to focus on a fly. Hate it or not, that's not something Dexter would ever do. The only other show currently that can be compared with it is Mad Men, and even that show doesn't reach the highs of Breaking Bad.
Dexter is a show that seems to have a "big bad" every season, and, more often than not, seems to press the reset button after every season instead of taking risks. It being a show on Showtime, the show has gone past its prime and continues to repeat its worn-out formula each season. Although this is coming from someone that jumped ship mid-Season five, so I can't comment on the rest in detail (although I do know a few major plot points that happen).
This is coming from someone that used to be head-over-heels in love with Dexter.
I'd say it has been overdone a tad in all honesty. Its my favorite show of all time. I'm sad to see it end this year but I'd like to see it go off on a good note than it getting milked and overdone.

As a huge Dexter fan and a alright BB fan I have to agree. Dexter kind of has this heres drama but everything will be fine going on where BB stuff happens that you would never expect. Love Dexter though probably have watched it to many times, thats why its gotten tireing lol.Dexter is the only character you care about in the show which was ok during the first few seasons when it was all about him but then some terrible subplots started forming in later seasons and that's when it really went downhill.
Literally the best thing I've seen on a television set, film or otherwise. I've never seen a character arc so expertly realized and played out to the point that it seems like they knew the exact direction the series would be in seasons later while writing the first season. Interviews revealed that they were mostly spitballing, so that's quite a damn feat. I'm both excited and worried about the final 8 episodes. Breaking Bad has yet to let me down in any way whatsoever, but there seems to be quite a lot to wrap up in natural and organic manner for 8 episodes. But I'm sure it will be done justice.

Yeah, again, I'd say Dexter was a great show....well, the first 2 seasons (and despite Lila). Its a lot more formulaic and predictable than BB.
^ What this guy said. This show elevated my concept of what a good TV show can really be. All aspects of the show are flawless. It's surprising how many shows have cringe-worthy writing, and how distinguished Breaking Bad is when compared to them.Literally the best thing I've seen on a television set, film or otherwise. Not really. I could have seen where everything in BB was heading a mile away, other than a few twists.Bates Motel reminds me of Braking Bad even though Bates Motel is mediocre. I try not to think about Braking Bad too much because I was in a trippy phase when i watched season 1 - 4 and it brings back memories. the last season was awesome i watched all 8 episode premieres, why would they keep the fans on edge for a full year :( aren't the next 8 episodes already recorded but on hold until the release in the summer?playmynutzWell yes, but they just recently finished filming them in March. Why they're on hold until July is anyone's guess -- AMC likely wants the DVD sales of the first part of season 5 a little higher as a result of the wait.
