Post enough and you'll start getting them. The trick to avoiding them is by not sharing opinions or attitudes related to something controversial. Otherwise some troll or some other goober that wants to punish you will track and stalk you for something to report. OR one of the rogue moderators will start harassing you indirectly via moderations.
Yeah but what's the fun in that? Just like with life. You aren't exactly living if You never do something that is not allowed by the elite or society. Then You're either a perfect fit, or a slave more so than the slaves of the past (a slave in being, not just body).
You're right, You'll get moderated at some points for saying the right things. It's no biggy. We just have to remember that our lives don't depend on a forum. People these days are way too scared.
When i get a message like that it makes me angry, but only for a second until i realize that it is human. When i do something wrong someone could just tell me. But because of the nature of humans and the size of a forum, they can't take that risk with me. I can't expect to be treated like a human on a big forum or by a big company. It's like this everywhere.
And then i just move on. I don't even want to discuss the moderations. Usually they are missunderstandings of what i meant. I don't feel like it's worth arguing with those people. They live by a set of rules, they have to. It's a different kind of world that i am not a part of. A rough transaction in which everyone loses from time to time. At times it can feel unjust, but that kind of system is everywhere in this world. If You want that to change, it will take a change in culture. Not saying don't share opinions or views I'm just saying negative intervention isinevitable. I agree with you. They often are misunderstandings. The mods don't seriously evaluate the reports. The trolls know this too. I assume the people who do the majority of reporting are just punk kids. The kids that do nothing but troll for trouble, it must be. Either that or theemotionally unreasonable. Well... it would be both.
The fact is that if there is nothing to moderate there is no need for moderators. Soa lack of any real problems causes them to turn nothing into the greatest forum infraction they have ever seen. Just like when the traffic enforcers don't have enough violators they set up traps and split hairs on the speed limits along with whatever else just so they have reasons to write tickets.
I was banned from 3DRealms forums years ago simply because one day I pissed off George Broussard. And I don't remember what it was either. It was something stupid. He over-reacted in my opinion. Or he didn't like me for whatever reason so he wanted me gone.
