It always baffles me how these guys are so easily ready to die in the most horrible ways for questionable reasons (let's face it, 99% of wars and conflicts out are hardly done for good reasons).

Most warriors in history were a little of each of the adjectives listed......:roll:huladog123Don't hate the player, hate the game, dawg.

I think your definition of "Good Reason" for war might be a little skewed. Many war's have been done for the benefit of a country. Now, they more often than not are not the reasons the politicians say, but that doesnt make the war bad. For instance D-Day. Wasnt done to fight the germans, was done to prevent russia from gaining too much ground while it beat down Germany. Had we not gone in their, Soviet Russia would have controlled nearly all of Europe at the end of WW2, the world would be a very bad place right now, if it would even still exsist.
I think Soldiers are courageous, they make sacrafices that you probably couldn't even imagine making yourself..

Fair enough.Events like D-day, I can understand. But like I said, 99% of it is just for BS reasons.[QUOTE="Tolwan"][QUOTE="DoctorFunk"]It always baffles me how these guys are so easily ready to die in the most horrible ways for questionable reasons (let's face it, 99% of wars and conflicts out are hardly done for good reasons).

Fair enough.Events like D-day, I can understand. But like I said, 99% of it is just for BS reasons.Again, i have to disagree with you on your percentage there. First gulf war, Saddam tried to make a grab for the Kuwait oil fields so he could price grouge the world and use it as a tool to gain control of WMD's. The war was definetly necessary.
The persian Empire fought many worthy wars as well, destroying those who slaughtered civilians like they were nothing, and the persians actually treated conquered cities with respect.
The American Civil War was definetly an important War and a real war that needed to be fought. Had we let them seperate, not only would slavery have taken a horrible turn but this country would have collapsed in on itself (United we Stand, Divided we Fall)
The AMerican Revolution was a very important war. The French Revolution had it's Merits.
I would say that more often than not, most war's we fight have good reaons, it's just dependant on your belief system if you support one side or the other.

Damn it, you win :([QUOTE="joey101010"]Lewis Hamilton is amazing.DoctorFunkI think he'll win the WDC this year. Him and Alonso are unstoppable, and that is made even more true by today's first and second place wins by them.
there's no need for war I've alwayz found it funny that in the 10 commandments which the Christians and Jews go by, it says, "Thou Shall Not Kill" yet there the ones doing all the killing911_conspiracyits a little bit more complicated than that.
Soldiers drink a lot. I know this.M1Hunter66if you were on the battlefield staring death in the face everyweek, and killing someone every week, you might drink a lot too

1. Your not allowed to drink while deployed.
2. I know why soldiers drink a lot. Its not just combat related, trust me.
3. Why trust me? M1Hunter:
And, just for the hell of it, who could forget my good friend Jones:

Not all.....some soldiers drink nothing. As in anything else...it depends on the individual...don't generalize,

This is true. I know of ONE soldier in my batallion that does not drink or smoke. lol?
M1hunter, are you deployed? also, is that picture of you with the gun with the MILES system in Iraq, or white sands missile range?353535355353535
No im not deployed, that picture was taken at the National Training Center after a "notional" gas attack.

... are you trying insanely to say otherwise? You call that to be intelligent? It's a given that many soldiers are drinking and this is an historical fact.

Many does NOT equal all. But for the sake of argument....give me your credentials with first hand military experience.

You sure do anyway, you know everything...
Think a little... you are in vietnam and the only thing you could do to forget the damn thing is what... killing wild pigs of course!
If you need a definitive answer, just find it yourself. Why would I need to prove myself if you are the one implying the contrary?
Also, do you remember Troy? Didn't the whole Troyan army drink to death? I think that's properly the historical proof you needed.
Like I said, before speaking, try to think a little... Would you imply that Oliver Stone or Clint Eastwood opinion is not worthy of yours? If you believe so, I'm right about the whole damn thing that I told you about your ego which bring your arguments to pieces because you can be considered to have mental illness which could destroy most of your own believes, could you be really sure of what you think?

There is also a passage in there about fighting for something. I don't remember I think a king said it. BUT there is a passage in the Bible that states war can be fought for the right reasons.

Considering I spent four years in the Army....I know a hell of a lot more than you regarding this question.
Viet Nam jungle did not have alcohol. Marijuana I'd agree with.....alcohol...no. Only when they were in town. Fail.
It's not what I think...it's what I know. Experience beats no experience. ;)
