Do what ever I reasonably can to incapacitate him or her and if necessary, use lethal force. Then I call the police and kick him or her in the kneecaps :P
Nothing says "get the **** out of my house!" like a swift blow to the calf with the 5-iron I keep next to my bed.
Either that or they have the misfortune to alert my dog.
Till they're concious? That's not a very good beating. :Pill beat them till there concious but i wouldnt take their life away
IRunNewYork
Shotgun to the knee. Then i let him decide whether he wants to call the cops himself, or die bleeding.
Take them out.
Will try to just incapacitate but if need be I will kill them.
When it comes to that situation, their life does not mean anything to me when my life and/or the lives of people I care about is in danger because of them.
More than half of you would get sued. You cant beat the criminal until your satisfied. He has to be a threat, and remain one. If you take a baseball bat and hit him, knocking him down, you cant just keep hitting him. This especially comes true if he had no weapon, and he said he gave up after the first swing but you just kept swinging. Very few states let you use deadly force. Causing a life long disability often will net you a lawsuit. Your "supposed" to, if at all possible, leave your home in the event of a break in. If you cant, your legally able to defend yourself, but not go further. If your state however has the castle doctrine, and you can "for sure" know there is a weapon on the individual, shoot to kill. However, if he/she is unarmed, you will be in some deep deep crap.CreasianDevailiWell I live in Texas, so... :V
Shoot him on his arm or leg - barely missing the major arteries...SajedeneShooting to maim also gets you into alot of potential lawsuits.
You do NOT want to do this. You shoot to kill or you don't shoot at all. You will only get sued. Thats what i said in mine. If you shoot, shoot to kill. It sucks but you also cannot "defend" your property. Meaning, it has to be the defense of your life or the life of another, when it comes into using deadly force, or any deadly weapon.[QUOTE="Sajedene"]Shoot him on his arm or leg - barely missing the major arteries...Pirate700
You do NOT want to do this. You shoot to kill or you don't shoot at all. You will only get sued. Would not the best action simply be to let the person go? That way the person is neither killed nor is anyone sued. Material possessions are just that, material possessions.[QUOTE="Sajedene"]Shoot him on his arm or leg - barely missing the major arteries...Pirate700
[QUOTE="Sajedene"]Shoot him on his arm or leg - barely missing the major arteries...CreasianDevailiShooting to maim also gets you into alot of potential lawsuits. If there was a serious threat in your house, i dont think most people would worry about being sued, they will be thinking about their and their family's safety. When someone breaks into your house, you have no idea if they are coming to kill you and rape your wife or just take the TV. you want to take them out as quick as possible.

Right, but, families will still try, and in this stupid world they might succeed. That is also why its always noted NOT to shoot someone where they can fall out of your window, or door, after the shot. That shows they were "running away" or still just entering in which case you could not yet determine the threat. I grew up in the deep country in ohio. The cops nor the EMT's are gonna reach where I lived in under 30-40 minutes, if that. So I became very familiar with what i could, or couldnt do cause in this event, i was on my own.[QUOTE="CreasianDevaili"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]You do NOT want to do this. A double tap to the chest will do the job and keep you out of trouble. Also make sure to call 911 immediately and let them know you shot an intruder.[QUOTE="CreasianDevaili"] Thats what i said in mine. If you shoot, shoot to kill. I have a friend who works as a RN at the state correctional facility. There is an old man who is there, and has been, for a very long time. Know what he did to be locked up with all of the thugs, losers, and such? Someone broke into his home, and he shot him dead. Now he is there. Also mind you, within each state the laws of shooting someone dead that breaks in also changes sometimes between urban and rural areas.

Another precaution, just for your own butt.. is to put up a sign on your windows/doors where the burglar can see saying that the home owner IS armed. Now, this might just mean your only going to get truely armed criminals, but its something that also can save your own ass at times. Its kind of along the same lines of putting up signs that there are dogs that will attack you if you enter the properly.[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Yeah never shoot them in the back. You mean like my "Insured by Smith & Wesson" window sticker?
Its kind of along the same lines of putting up signs that there are dogs that will attack you if you enter the properly. CreasianDevailiFunny thing is those signs will also own you if your dog attacks a passer by because then you recognize that you have a vicious dog.
Yep. My uncle had one similiar, and I had one when I lived there. I live in the city now so it isnt the same but.. I forgot his but it was quite direct =)[QUOTE="CreasianDevaili"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]

Right, but just with owning dogs, if your willing to shoot a gun you should be able to "handle" the weapon you own. If you have vicious dogs, then you should know how to keep them inside your property, without fail. Countless people do it. With guns, you should also know where to shoot so they dont suffer, and not need to have a 2 foot spread of the impacts.

I think mine was along the lines of "A country boy can survive" with a gun underneath. It had something else but its been too long i guess. Got it at some huge fleamarket. Homemade one I figure. But to add to the sign.. I had a dim upsidedown lampshade pointing up to my SKS with the 30-round banana clip, on the wall opposite of the window. Course, if I had to use a gun back then, I would have used my 22-250.Please Log In to post.
