So...Muhammad said the sun will rise from the west one day?

[QUOTE="toast_burner"]

[QUOTE="GrayF0X786"] back then marriage at that age was fking normal, jheez!

GrayF0X786

Then why are you following the teachings of an incredibly outdated culture?

Wasn't Muhammad supposed to be the prime example of a good person? Shouldn't he have not been sucked in to the corruption of his time?

its not a teaching, its recorded history that Aisha herself wrote. omg lol

Muhammad was obviously not a very good person by todays standards, so why is it that you listen to him?

I'm sorry, I can't. They're quite explicit.

Could you at least provide sufficient information so that we can google it and find it for ourselves?

Something about what Muhammad liked to do while Aisha was having her menses.

On a positive side, Muhammad was a brilliant warlord.
He plagiarised the Bible, then somehow convinced people that the Bible was corrupt.
He was very anti whore, but managed to bone a nine year old.

Muhammad was a brilliant man, not morally.

Well as an ex-Muslim and knowing many Muslims, grey fox is not trolling. Trust me. Many like him out there. Sad little pawns of religion.

Omni-Wrath

When do people going to stop treating religion as some sort of entity or some other sh*t? You do realize it's people itself are the ones carrying out the suppose horror of religion.

Religion has no problems allowing murder, forced marriages, and ignorance.
And by ignorance, ignoring real science like evolution and the age of the Earth.

Irrelevant it doesn't change the fact that people are the ones carrying out the suppose orders. I will not touch thesubject on whatever or not religion allows it, there no point to it.

As a Sunni Muslim, let me clarify some points:

1) According the Sunni interptation of Islam, no human being is "perfect." Mohmmad (pbuh) is included in this. We believe he, as any other human, is capable of making mistakes.

2) Mohammad had an intercourse with Aisha when she was 9 years old. However, child mirages were common back then. Now before being disgusted to your stomach let me illustrate my point by giving you an example: Nowadays, it's perfectly acceptable to marry a 18 years old girl and have sex with her. But what if, in 500 years, the age of marriage was raised to 26 for some reason, then by your logic any man who married a woman who was younger than 26 is a sick freak! My point is, you can't judge a person who lived 1500 years ago by today's standards, because today's standards aren't absolute truth. They are relative: They are going to change, for time changes people, and people make rules. What Mohammad did was perfectly normal in his time period, and many other Arabs (Muslims and non-Muslims) were doing the same.

Unfortunately that could mean multiple things.. THe problem with religious texts is they speak of the absolutes while at the same time many of their texts are extremely vague and open to extreme interpretation.

One of the funniest thing I have ever seen is when people from certain religion attack people from another religion. The fools don't realize that the same arguments can be made against their own religion, and they make religious people look like asses in front of everyone else. The point is, by attacking other religions you only perpetuate the stereotypes about religions(including yours)that you hate the most.

That is a completely different scenario. To me it is way more logical for atheists and religious people to be conducting such "faith warfare". I'm not saying religious people can't argue people from other religions, but this kind of warfare between each other is rather idiotic.

"because today's standards aren't absolute truth" Sure, but Allah's (ishygddt) eternal standards ARE absolute truth. Which means that, according to Islam, that behaviour was perfectly fine -- not only back then but also right now. Which leads many of us to the conclusion that we cannot support such an ideology.

Allah's standards are absolute in the area of faith, beliefs...etc but are not absolute in the areas of everyday life. Things like believing in one God, believing in judgement, afterlife, hell and heaven are absolute, but how you pray, marriage, dealing with aspects of life differed throughout history. This is basically why we have Judaism, Christianity then Islam, among other messages throughout history.

Come on now you can do better than that. It does not make sense to keep the same "legislations" of everyday life forever, time changes and any reasonable omnipotent being will change things for people to adapt to.

Sounds to me like you are defending what we're all saying: that religion is created by men and their cultures. Why wouldn't the one true god keep the same laws forever? There is no reason to change any laws; they are already the product of a perfect deity after all. Besides, why would a omnipotent being be "reasonable"? Wouldn't he "improve", say, his religion's treatment of women?

1) You have no idea what you're talking about. Muhammad is descibed as being "3ala khuluqin 3azim" in one verse of the Qur'an. And there are other verses that affirm his sinlessness. Find me one authentic source that denies that Allah considers Muhammad sinless. In any case, if he was given full guidance from Allah, then why didn't Allah tell him that having sex with kids is bad?

2) Terrible analogy. A 9-year-old girl is not sexually mature and cannot consent to sex. An 18-year-old woman, however, can consent and is sexually mature. And the consequences of having sex with a 9-year-old girl is not only (appropriate) cultural disapproval but also psychological and perhaps even physical damage to the child. By contrast, having consensual sex with an 18-year-old woman is not psychically or physically detrimental to her.

[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="ghoklebutter"]Muhammad is descibed as being "3ala khuluqin 3azim" in one verse of the Qur'an. ghoklebutter
Translation?

Literally means "on (top of) great character." Which basically means that he's the best example of humanity.

Sure, but Allah uses our mud standards to come to that conclusion, bro. Lucky for Mo we didn't ask The S.W.T. in 1850, 1980 or 2011.

I AM a realistic person, so I know we have our share of fvcked up followers, I'm aware of that. Its really sad, when a Muslim is a "good" Muslim he/she is a terrific person to deal with. But when a Muslim is a "bad" Muslim its absolutely repulsive. Of course its all subjective and relative.

Why is this statement assumed to be taken literally? Sounds like a figurative passage to me.

Or more precisely, it sounds f*cking ridiculous to you, but as an apologist for religious nonsense you have to come up with an excuse for it
