Guys marijuana should be illegal and it does kill people. I mean, just look at Obama, Sarah Palin, Bill Clinton, and Morgan Freeman. Also, George Washington grew hemp! They could have been successful and rich, could have even founded countries but now look at them...

Hey wait a minute...

Alright but those first 3... ahahahaha

People with addicting personalities and flaws within themselves usually are the ones that Abuse drugs, these type of people can abuse anything they don"t have to take "Drugs" per say to cause harm to themselves. It would be nice if Weed was legal it personally wouldn't effect me that greatly, I have weed but not often more of a every now and then thing. I find it hilarious that Weed Illegal yet "Legal" Drugs cause more harm.

I did. Seems like you want to control everyone just because your brother was irresponsible, which isn't really better than what you were implying earlier.

worlock77

To put it simply, I believe that substances that cause harm should be regulated. In the case of Marijuana and hard drugs, illegalization is the best form of regulation. People like my family will most likely not even bother ever even trying it, and people that want it have no problem acquiring it. There's nothing I can do to stop it's use, that's a fool's thinking. I believe the system we have in place is the right idea. Maybe a few tweaks in the handling, but the system works. Legalizing it would be opening up the floodgates to major problems down the line for many people.

So I don't want tighter control, I just don't want it to be legalized. That is as simple as I can put this.

This is f*cking stupid. You're saying you want it illegal because then people like your family won't try it, yet it is illegal and your family members did use it. So your solution is no solution at all.

People that are against marijuana legalization don't make sense, yet again..

Obama went to Columbia and Harvard University; was a professor; and is the current president.
Palin still went to college, was heavily involved in politics, and was actually a pretty good governor for Alaska.
Clinton was also a successful college student, became the youngest governor in the United States, and then became president.

As much as I disagree with them politically, they are, without a doubt, successful and intelligent and went on to do amazing things. Now imagine if a police officer caught them doing weed, would their lives be different?

The point is that we're arresting people over possession or even smoking weed. It's asinine to see the same politicians who did drugs but support the War on Drugs even though it's a failure of a policy. This is the very definition of insanity: Doing the same thing hoping that something different will happen.

History shows that prohibition never works.

CKYguy25

Yes and no. The state law does make pot legal but federal law doesn't and federal law always trump state law.

Until all or most federal laws are removed regarding drugs, it won't matter if the states make it legal.

And that's only because the 10th amendment (the one that states basically the opposite of that) is constantly ignored. And it's the same way in Alaska. State law allows any adult to possess up to one ounce, for personal use, inside their home. Yet people still get arrested, and sent to prison over it, all the time.

Also, fun fact:

People made a huge deal out of it when California legalized medicinal marijuana, and since then, countless dispensaries have popped up all over the state, selling it to thousands (if not millions, I'm not sure anymore) of customers with prescriptions.

Alaska legalized medicinal marijuana two years before California did. And yet, after all that time, there is still only one dispensary in the whole state, and I think less than 100 people who've been prescribed marijuana, by Alaskan doctors.

That its principles prohibit such infringements of rights necessary to eradicate illegal drug markets. How do you suppose China got rid of their opium problem?

It was a combination of integration as well as executions. The death penality was reserved for serious offenders. I was specifically referring to the process of tracing criminals, as well as integrating minor offenders; both of which are off limits under our current system.

yeah dang socialist obama nationalizing all those industries oh wait anyway, we'll legalize it soon. It's starting to become a majority issue. Maybe next election cycle we'll see some support for it from the Democrats. It'll take longer for the Republicans since old people are very much against it.

See bailouts, major wealth redistribution, welfare state, corporate welfare, crony capitalism, central planning, keynesianism, etc.

Bailouts without nationalization? Nope Wealth redistribution? Where? Welfare state? For one, a social safety net does not equate to socialism. For another, this would retroactively make a half century's worth of presidents into socialists. Which is clearly untrue. 'Corporate welfare' without, again, any nationalization. Crony capitalism? I'm unsure how special interest groups lobbying the government equates to socialism. lolcentralplanning Keynesianism is a capitalist school of thought. Seriously, you can't just use 'socialism' as a catchall term for 'things I dislike.' Words mean things.

Idc what you call it. Sh*t economic policy. Socialism. Communism. Crony Capitalism. Corporatism. The classification doesn't matter really. It is all sh*t economic policy. You're cool with that?

Washington may very well legalize it very soon. Poling suggests that most people in the state are pro-marijuana legalization, and it's being voted on.
