I think Amazing Spiderman could've been great. I don't like how they focused so much on Peter and Gwen though, I mean they basically have a perfect relationship, not much to develop there. They should've had more fight scenes with spiderman saying cheesy one liners. I still liked it better than Spiderman though.

All things considered, I think I liked Spiderman better. Andrew Garfield was a huge step up from Mcguire imo, but I don't think The Amazing Spiderman improved on much of anything else and actually lost a lot of impact on some of the more meaningful scenes. Also found lizard to be completely laughable.

Spiderman movies are the worst of all Marvel movies. Even X-Men Origins: Wolverine is better than any of the Spiderman flicks.

Spiderman The Animated Series on Netflix > any Spiderman movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man would've been better if they didn't make the stupid decision to retell the origin story. Why? Everybody already knows how Spidey gets his powers. Summarize it during the opening credits, and move on.

It had flashes of greatness, but it kept falling back on old tired cliches. It's like they tried to make a good movie, but then allowed focus test groups to rewrite scene after scene.

Secret Wars and Spider Wars i think it was, was pretty fantasic. On the topic though i still think i like the first spiderman more since it was so classic and really dead on other than the web shooters.

The original trilogy is miles ahead of the crappy reboot. Yes, even Spiderman 3 was better than Amazing Spiderman.

I prefered The Amazing Spiderman. The characters seemed more believable, and Martin Sheen did a great job at Uncle Ben.

The crane scene was embarrassingly stupid.

I'd take dancing emo Peter over that scene any day.

This. The Amazing Spiderman was Leaaaaaaagues ahead of the originals. I felt sad.. mentally anguished over how spiderman 2/3 went down. I cried and locked my spiderman comics away after 3. Amazing Spiderman left me feeling really good, could it have been better? Probably, but im okay with that.

The first Spiderman movie was good, the second ok, the third was an insult to humanity. I really can't stand Tobey MacGuire or Kirsten DUnst though. Horrible acting.

I think they set it up for the next one to be fantastic, as long as they keep it with Green Goblin killing Gwen Stacy.

I hated the origional trilogy, and I couldn't stand Maguire. This one was cooler.

But I agree that they should not have retold the origin story.

I liked Spiderman and Spiderman 2, and I was iffy about them remaking Spiderman so soon. After seeing the Amazing Spiderman however, I vastly prefer it to the Sam Rami films, everything is just better about the film.

I gotta re-watch the first Spider-Man movie.

but given that i saw that 8 times while it was still in theaters, and i have no desire to re-watch Amazing Spider-Man. probably liked Spider-Man a whole lot more.

Amazing Spider-Man apart from fight scenes, just didn't make a whole lot of sense. too many coincedences like x happens to be related to/working for x!

Garfield and Stone had great chemistry on screen, but that could be due to the fact they are in a real-life relationship. Which makes me wonder how good they'll be in the sequel(s), if they ever break up during the filmings.

Also while i feel i can say Green Goblin was good (despite being basically an evil power ranger) because well he's whacked out of his mind. Lizard - while he looks cool - his motives never made any damn sense to me. There was not angle of "well he's crazy you see..." with Lizard.

there tried to keep my spoilers at a minimum. If you don't know anything about Lizard, or that Lizard is in the movie, i don't know what to say.

I liked Amazing but the first one just felt like he had more fun. In Amazing i thought spider man was going to do more quips but really the only one he did were the ones in the trailer and they werent that great after hearing them several times before. Like another poster said 1994 animated Spider Man is still kinda the best. In the cartoon he always had a good wit to him and i think the other bonus was the inner monologue that the audience got to listen to his thoughts and really understand him. I get why they cant really do the inner thoughts in the movie but certainly they could have made spider man feel like he was having more fun.

I really liked the amazing spiderman better. Peter seemed a lot more realistic this time around, seemed to play the role more of a teen then a superhero which i liked a lot. The couple gwen and peter were really cute, they were both so cute :3. Again really liked the actors this time around, i hated mary jane so much.

One thing though, i hated how in the amazing universe spiderman couldnt shot web i mean come on how i shot web. instead he uses some web tech :P

Personally, I thought the amazing Spiderman was much better mostly due to the fact I disliked Raimi's rendition of spiderman because of Maguire's Peter Parker, he was a great Spiderman, but he was just so whiny and pathetic out of the suit, that I hated almost every second he was Peter Parker, he was manageable during scenes with Aunt May and when he was at the Daily Bugle, but he was almost laughable in his scenes with MJ, mostly due to one fundamental difference between Peter Parker's relationship with MJ and Gwen Stacy, Gwen fell in love with Peter, not Spiderman, and IMO MJ fell in love with Spiderman, not to mention at least TAS Gwen was not a useless damsel in distress. Not to mention the fact that Andrew Grafield was an amazing spiderman, and a likable guy even out of the suit.

The web shooters in Amazing was by far the best thing about it and the worst thing about the original. Also in the new one i liked that the distance wasnt an unlimited range though i was kinda hoping there would be a point where he would run out of fluid at a bad time.

The new one was terrible. I was very bored throughout the whole thing. It was just a paint by numbers action movie with forced romance and Spider-Man as the setting.

Haven't seen the old one in a while, but I'd probably say that one was better. The new one had it's good moments and all but in total it wasn't as good. It started better than it ended in my opinion. Wasn't a fan of The Lizard either.

I like them both, I have a soft spot for the original, I loved the new one though. I'd say I preferred the way they handled Ben's death and MUCH preferred the Green Goblin in the first film, but I like that this one uses Gwen Stacy instead of MJ first (which is how the comics did it) and how he had to build his web shooters, while also keeping him in high school for a bit.

Both are pretty stellar I'd say, and I think Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield were both fantastic Spider-Man actors.

Also I personally prefer MJ to Gwen (comics wise at least, and for my redhead soft spot), but I think Emma Stone is MUCH more likable and Gwen's character ends up being smarter and more capable. MJ was human and in the comics she was feisty, but here they made Gwen feisty as well while retaining her intellect and not making her a damsel in distress.

raimis trilogy sh!ts on the amazing spiderman. Tobey does better parker... none of this hipster crap. Spiderman OST > AMS OST (lol what ost) Better characters and more fun eccentric personalities > Plank of wood Goblin > Lizard James Franco > Entire AMS cast WAYYYYY better pacing in the first one. Well structured. Hell...even the trailer is better in the first one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN3YaybNJ2s

I want to say The Amazing Spider-Man, I really do, because I HATE Tobey Maguire and I LOVE Andrew Garfield. Plus, I HATE Kirsten Dunst and LOVE Emma Stone. But really, the first ones are much better. AMS just never really clicked as a Spider-Man film for me. It was fun and had its good moments, like the fight in the school. The first ones felt like I was watching Spider-Man, AMS felt like watching a guy dress up as Spider-Man.

I'm not sure about this one. I saw The Amazing Spiderman last week and I thought there were so many corny lines and the movie overall left much to be desired. With that said I still prefer Garfield as Peter Parker.

To be fair, both films had there fair share of corny lines. Personally i feel the original trilogy was more painful to watch then the new one as far as corny lines are concerned but I absolutely hated the casting in the original trilogy so I may be biased.

I think that is something we can all agree on, I wouldn't mind him being recasted for TAS2, which I'm assuming Green Goblin will appear in, since Emma Stone only signed for two movies, I'm assuming Gwen Stacy will die in the sequel :(
