Spielberg regrets walkie-talkie change in E.T.

Some directors in Hollywood may not know when to leave well enough alone when it comes to their movies (Is it necessary to mention specific people at this point?), but at least one is man enough to admit he's made a mistake.

According to Slashfilm, Steven Spielberg was at a screening celebrating the 30th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark and touched on the subject of the alterations he had made when E.T. had its 20th anniversary back in 2002, specifically, the scene where Elliot and his friends were chased by the feds and walkie-talkies were digitally inserted where they once carried guns. He also announced that the upcoming Blu-ray will have the original version of the film.

Which has me wondering...Just for the sake of argument, if you had the chance to digitally alter any movie you wanted, what movie would it be, and what would you add--or remove from it? It can be as simple or as absurd as possible, so feel free to run wild.

Fight Club, replace Ed Norton and Brad Pitt with Adam Sandler and Tom Cruise.

I'd undo quite a few changes in the original Star Wars Trilogy. Greedo shooting first would easily be the first to go since Han shooting first is an important character establishment moment. Also I dunno if they ever edited it but I could be persuaded to fixing the infamous "force kick" in Return of the Jedi.Ace6301

In Saving Private Ryan, i'd replace bullets with paintball pellets. The Omaha Beach landing would be the most colourful scene in movie history.

I'd fix Legolas' sense of direction in 'the Two Towers'. In one scene he looks out across the fields of Rohan and claims the Uruks are turning to the northeast, heading to Isengard, when, in fact, Isengard was west/northwest of where they were.

I'd remove Garfield from Garfield. That way Garfield Minus Garfield would have its own movie adaptation!

You know...changing te guns into walkie-talkies might have been a bad move, but Spielberg's REASON for why it was a mistake is a big steaming bag of ****.

If the change is stupid, then it's stupid. But the hell with the fans and their memories. It's not THEIR movie, it's Spielberg's. And if he thinks that aspects of it need to be changed, then the fans can either get used to it or go buy another freaking movie.

Hell, if there's one thing I respect about George Lucas, it's that he does what he wants. That he has the balls to piss off his entire fanbase while still acting like, "**** the fans, they're my movies and I'll make whatever changes I want to."

I'd replace Maggie Gyllenhaal from the dark knight with someone who was actually cute. I mean come on. I know the Joker was crazy, but he wasn't blind. There is no way everyone was fighting over such a "beauty." Maybe with Scarlett Johansen or Anne Hathaway (but I guess that would mess up the next movie)
