How exactly is it a "beautiful" form of self-expression? You make it sound like strippers are mute and can't express themselves or don't have limbs to move with and do other things and the only way for them to express themselves is through stripping.

To me, it's degrading for both men and women and people are treated as objects when they agree to do that for money.

gamingqueen

Its their choice. Besides if you think stripping is bad I can only imagine your view on prostitution, which is one of the oldest professions on our planet.

Many people use things other than their voices to express themselves. Look at paintings, drawings, music, dance etc...

Poedon

Trading is the oldest profession in history. People used to swap things to get the items they wanted. And the first crime in the history of man was killing so does that make it right? No!

I believe one has many ways to express him/herself though there are low and degrading ways and better ways.

Clearly if they're doing it they don't find it low and degrading. Not to mention they probably make more money in a night then you do in a week.

Strippers are one step away from being whores, but that's there business, a guy looking to produce incependent adult film would do best to distribute a professional looking business card to the dancers at a local strip club.

Once you put your body out there for the sexual enjoyment of others that you do not know you have become a mere object to them....unlike art the people that are "appreciating" strippers are getting off by the sexual aspect of it....not appreciating the art form....

Listen kid, I know this is a videogames forum and we post here for fun but here's a serious note for you and take it from me as a friend, there's nothing cool about having such an attitude and when you grow up and read your post, you're gonna laugh at it. When you say prostitution is ok, it means killing for money is ok, stealing is ok, beating people for money is ok and doing all immoral activities for the sake of money is ok and that is disasterous. Again it's not cool and people will admire you more if you drop that attitude.

I think the only reason people are unwilling to view stripping or sex as an art form is because they think the human body is either too disgusting or "too sacred".

To begin I'm not a kid. I'm probably even older than you are. Secondly if prostitution is so bad then why is it legalized and respected in Amsterdam? They realized no matter what you do there is always going to be prostitition? So instead of denying it they made it legal and unionized, with standards and health checks. They realized that people will do it no matter what, so it might as well be safe for both parties involved. So now women who CHOOSE to do it are entitled to a health care plan, benefits and get checked on regularly as they should. Because that is the smart and responsible way of doing it. Instead of denying what is going on, and shunning them, pushing them underground and making it more dangerous for everyone involved.

Case Closed.

Tsk tsk, he might be older than you.

Prostitution is not the same as stealing or murdering. Nice leap of logic. Stealing and killing requires a victim by necessity by taking away the victim's rights. Prostitution does not. You trade money for a service that does not infringe on the rights of others, unless there is a pimp involved.

I think thats exactly what you're trying to do. You're trying to belittle me by calling me young and uninformed when really I think Amsterdam has the best approach to drugs and prostitution. I'm not trying to be socially accepted at all as I think if we were to legalize and monitor prostitition it would be better for all parties involved. It would insure you won't catch a disease from them, as well as that they won't be kidnapped and murdered (Robert Pickton). You are just denying what these people do for a living, and believe that they should not be accepted as people. I'd also like for you to point out where I was being hypocritical, because last time I checked my argument the whole time has been that prostitution should be legalized, monitored and carefully regulated.

How the hell can anyone construe stripping as an art form? Is prostitution an art form as well? I have no respect for either of them. It is the epitome of objectification. They effectively reduce themselves to a sexual object.

Before you talk about Holland, where are you from? Holland might be the best country to apply public rights and freedoms but it's the worst when it comes to women's rights and this is something I have studied. How can you allow yourself to tell a female that prostitution is a decent way to make money? I'm not arguing about whether it was legal or not as I'm telling you it does not make it right. You know what would this result in? People in other nations are complaining about the declining of education and you're saying prosititues should be treated and respected just as lawyers? Just as people who swallow books and endure touching other people with a zillion disease and take several injections every months and work their ass off? Equal with people who pay college fees for years to get a damn degree in something and then get a job? Excuse me but you're logic is messed up! and you're beginning to scare me!

If a stripper loves her work, then I have no problems with it. But it's undeniable that a good chunk of these women are poor and do not have much choice in their area of work, and a stripper just seems better than a prostitute.

I'm still on the fence on whether I should take up my fiance's offer and go to a strip club for my next birthday.

I pity you... at least people like me for who I am and I don't have to be a hypocrite and pretend to be okay with something when I'm really not just to be socially accepted. Thankfully!

Are you implying that going to school to become a lawyer makes you a better person than someone who chooses their own career as a prostitute? Need I remind you in Holland they are choosing to become prostitiutes, not being forced into it by a pimp who beats them. This is what they do to make money to feed their children, themselves and pay for their necessities. Just because they didn't go to a Law school for five years to defend murderers and rapists doesn't make them a bad person.

As I said I support legalizing prostitution so there won't be people getting touched with "a zillion diseases". They would be taken care of medically and financially, while also having a benefits package. It would be better then denying a profession that has been around since Babylon.

But prostitutes dont get paided as much as lawyers, sure they get paided more then people that work at Mickey Dees but its no wheres near a middle class income, more like a bar tenders. Its not so much the fact "i demand you like strippers and prosituses Mauhahaha" its more of the fact that alot of people like them and there gonna like them no matter if its legal not not so its best to keep it clean and safe them deaised and underground.

Most women who do it, do it because they enjoy it and get paid loads of money for it. I myself don't particularly find the idea of watching a strange woman I don't know undress in a poorly-lit bar-like environment appealing but if they enjoy it who am I to say otherwise?foxhound_fox

Trust me, they don't do it because they enjoy it... they do it for the money, and because MOST of them (with the odd exception once in a while) have received very little education from their parents, have very little school education and basically couldn't do anything else.

Also, since it's not easy getting naked in from of 100 horny men and then going in a small place with one of them who'll touch you with his dirty hands, most of them are either on coke or crack...

I work in a psychiatric ER in Montreal, and we see t least 1 or 2 strippers/week that come in because of an OD, a suicidal attempt or something like that.

Lawyers don't only defend murderes and rapists and this is a constitutional principal which forces countries to apply the right for criminals to defend themselves by providing a lawyer and a trial in a normal* no military* court.

Which brings me back to the many ways people can express themselves through UPDATE make money through and those ways can be low or decent and that is a subjective matter. According to Nwordjohn, when there's a new country, the BEST way to make it in the lead is by offering job vacancies and what jobs are better than prostitution. What a great leader! The productivity of prostiution is bastards and sexual transmitted disease when the productivity of going to a college or getting a job else where which anyone can do nowadays is building an entire country. Even trash men help raising the productivity of a country Nwordjohn!

Stripping itself isn't demeaning at all. The girls have moves and they work them. Unfortunately stripping isn't where they make their real money...the things they do in the back rooms are where the cash is. That part is demeaning. That being said I've only been to a strip club twice in my life so I can't say it made a lasting impression of awesomeness on me.TheSystemLord1

Me too. I don't find strip clubs all that special after I've been there twice :?

Why? Paying to see naked woman. What does it matter if your putting money into their thong or sending it over paypal. Still looking at woman like pieces of meat.

for one, porn is free.

for two, porn can be done in the relative safety of their own whatever.

for three, porn is generally less about dancing, and more about sex.

Now, if you just mean the moral problems one might have with displaying one's body nude, they're comparable, but otherwise, they're different acts that take place in completely different ways and have completely different rules governing how they're paid for.

You must have a degree in taking things out of context. I stated clearly, as I will again that I support prostitution being legalized on the grounds that it is closely monitored and they are inspected regularly. That gets rid of your disease argument. As for creating "bastards", that has no grounds what so ever as you can't give a proper definition of a bastard. Did I once say a whole country's economy should be based on it? No. Did I say that a country should realize that its going to happen, legal or illegal, and it would be best for the sake of the women who do it to be medically inspected regularly and protected by the law? Yes.

Trying to take the moral high ground on this by dismissing them as whores and diseases is unjustified.
