There's always going to people that don't like you and that goes for all of us. That unfortunately is just life. I'm not sure what your probation period has to do with talking to them about it though. If doing so will get you fired or whatever, I doubt not being on probation will change that.

Talk about useless advice (talking about virtually everyone who posted on here)... Be honest with her without being a dick... You have to be direct with these things or it will always be a weight on your back. That is no way to live... FIX IT... BenedictArnold7
Sounds like you've never worked retail. News of that kind of drama in the retail workplace would spread like wildfire. Not saying he shouldn't talk to them about it but it's not always that easy.

It is only difficult because you are a coward and you are not used to doing those things. With practice it becomes easier. It is certainly the best thing to do. I have been in those situations and resolved things through honesty without being cruel or disrespectful. It may not work 100% of the time, but it is certainly worth practicing.

I had the same problem once. I talked to the HR lady. I made up some BS sob story that let her know I couldn' t work at certain times. I asked if she could do something about it, and she did. She talked to the manager and they shuffled around the schedules . I only saw that **** supervisor only like 5 times that following year (when someone was absent). I  been always good at getting my way though so this may not work for you.

Basically, I'm working this grating retail job to make ends meet since I just moved to a different city.

I have 4 supervisors and one just took this immediate, unwarranted disliking to me. I do all of my work well and I do it on time. I help others. I've made fast friends with my coworkers. But this ***** always finds something to harp on me for. Lately, she doesn't have my work to criticize so she will speak to me like a toddler. I feel like she's trying to get me to lash out at her this way.

Anyway, I'm still in my probation period since I haven't even been there 2 months. I really want to talk to her and tell her that her way of speaking to me is very disrespectful but at the same time I'm worried if I bring it up, they'll label me a "problem employee" and just fire me before my probation period is up. What can I do about this?

Deal with it, to be blunt. Sucks, but there's always going to be co-workers that you don't get along with. Not much you can do about that.

lol worded a bit harshly but that's about my suggestion also. If it's just one of your managers, just deal with it. I work retail too and while I'm fortunate to have pretty decent managers, I'll have the occasional employee that talks down to me like I'm I'm an idiot.

Pretty much. Most likely it will piss off that manager, make him look bad to the other managers, and spread the classic retail drama around. Personally, I'd just deal with it.

Had the same issue when I started at Walmart... Was going to quit... found out that same day she had transferred to a different store... The hardest part(if you know what I mean) is that she was like super super hot! I alternated between wanting to bury my face between her ... and wanting to shoot her in the face...

I can't speak for this particular supervisor, but in my experience confronting her will just make things worse. She likely already knows she is treating you this way. It isn't a matter of having balls or not, rather deciding if it is worth the risk of making things worse for you or not. If it really is making it unbearable to work, then it might be worth doing something, but it is more likely that you just have to learn how to not let her get to you. Honestly, you're lucky you only have one coworker that treats you poorly.

Work hard and prove to her your the best employee she has. Then she will appreciate you and not take you for granted. Right now your going through your testing period. If she keeps on at it, then look for another job.

just put your head down and do a good job (sounds like you are, so keep it up :) ).

Take solace in your coworkers if you consider them friends, or friendly, to gain some measure of happiness in your job, but DO NOT bitch to them about coworkers and management (that will bite you in the ass)

And, above all else, don't take your job too seriously.  Take pride in your work, but don't take the job seriously.  This is the path to infinite disappointment.

Talk normally. It will emphasize how weird she is acting.

If your boss is super nasty, then take your time to blacklist the boss. There are blacklists for bad bosses as well as bad employees.

You're obviously very knowledgeable. I love what you're explaining on this here thread about supervisors.
Will you write a book about it? I would love to read it and learn from the best instead of cowering like the rest.

There's a simple way of putting the problem to her that might help, and that's just by phrasing the issue so it centres on you. Instead of saying 'Stop talking to me like I'm stupid', which is clearly their attitude problem, say something like 'I feel as though you're talking to me like I'm not capable, and it's effecting my confidence to do my job'. That way, they get the same info and can either consider talking to you differently or can just chalk it down to being your problem - just feels like less of an attack, and isn't as likely to piss people off as telling them straight.MudoSkills
Do not do this. Just reply in a short precise manner. Don't show any emotion. When He/she is giving you a hard time, ignore as if you didn't even hear it. Don't fuel the fire.

Who cares. Just work and ignore. In fact, I would actually find it funny if my supervisor was doing this to me. I would just ignore them and keep working hard. Don't feed their fuel by talking. Only talk when you have to, and give short precise responses lol.

Don't be silly.

Kill her and leave her body hanging in the store. That way the other managers will know that you are the alpha male.

That or just give her what she really wants.....a good root.

That's just part of life. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with it. There's always going to be people that don't like you or you don't get along with. When it's your superior at work, sometimes you have to just take it. That's part of being an employee. You either take what your boss dishes out or you can quit. Part of being an adult is picking your battles. Your boss shouldn't be one of them.

Ugh I would never be able to do that... That is like giving up on what you stand for.

When I did have a job (btw I was not fired or anything like that :P) I did stand up for myself and my bosses respected that and figured I was on top of things moreso than my colleagues and it even got me some privileges in the long run.
I mean as long as you do your best I think you should definitely be able to have conversation with your boss even if they are total ****s. But maybe his boss is real nasty. Even nastier than mine were. I do have to say I had a pretty good feel for where I stood and how the bosses would respond.
I have never worked in retail and I suppose it's impossible there to be a good or bad employee, so that really limits your options. I would certainly start looking for another job if your boss is real bad.
