[QUOTE="Laihendi"] Please list some "smart people", and I will explain why they are not smart.Laihendi

Off the top of my head; Michelangelo, Nikola Tesla, Sylvia Plath, David Foster Wallace, Virginia Woolf, and Isaac Newton.

Half of those people committed suicide, so obviously they had mental issues (this is in line with the survey I posted in the op). Nikola Tesla has mentally ill too. You just listed a bunch of crazy people. Isaac Newton was a creationist.

Please tell us why they were not smart.

That's interesting because bipolar disorder is nicknamed the CEO disease.

[QUOTE="Ace6301"][QUOTE="Nibroc420"][QUOTE="Ace6301"] Am I going crazy or did Nibroc just say something that makes some sense?

It didn't, I forgot to write "surprised" at the end. 2nd sentence was flawed.

I assumed you meant you weren't surprised. Makes a certain degree of sense that people who tend to be more accepting of those with mental illnesses would be more likely to self describe themself as having them. I somehow doubt all those folk on those right wing conspiracy sites would describe themselves as anything other than completely sane as well.

So when this survey says Liberals in general were 64% more likely to report major depression, 320% more likely to report bipolar disorder, 50% more likely to report mild depression, and 113% more likely to report Seasonal Affective Disorder. The key word is "Report"

BBC has no credibility in the scientific community because it is a political propaganda organization. Neuropolitics did a survey. It wasn't scientific research. It wasn't a groundbreaking study. It was a survey, and the results made it clear that liberals are more prone to mental instability than conservatives.

Lai if you are going to criticize the BBC at least criticize them accurately. They aren't a political propaganda organization. They actually do some good reporting (although these days any reporting is good reporting).

They do, however, harbor pedophiles.

That sounds more like a libertarian than a liberal, considering liberals tend to invoke statism to carry out their social agendas which does nothing to end subservience. Of course if he was a statist then that just proves he couldn't see the contradiction of using government to force social agendas on people.

bbc didn't do the research they were reporting on peer-reviewed research conducted by a professional this neuropolitics place is not peer reviewed

"By a professional" That is an appeal to authority. That's just some guy doing a study and coming up with a result you wanted, and then a liberal propaganda organization made a story about it. Invoking peer reviews is just an appeal to consensus.

Lai you should back up your claim that mental disorders can be overcome through rational thinking. Even if it's just personal experience.

[QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="Abbeten"][QUOTE="Laihendi"] BBC has no credibility in the scientific community because it is a political propaganda organization. Neuropolitics did a survey. It wasn't scientific research. It wasn't a groundbreaking study. It was a survey, and the results made it clear that liberals are more prone to mental instability than conservatives.

it is so bizarre that you would distrust peer reviewed research on principle and criticize me for cherry picking results that i want, and then ask us to implicitly trust the findings of a study that is by all appearances far less scientifically rigorous, simply because the results are those that YOU wanted

Don't talk about scientific literature and research world when you know nothing about it. You know nothing about the tiers of scientific journals out there.

I wondering if rational thinking can overcome people with problems with neurotransmitters to overcome their mental disorders.
