Which is your favourite superhero movie in 2012? after seeing both The Avengers remains my favourite superhero movie over Dark Knight Rises.

I haven't seen TDKR yet, but did anyone else think The Avengers was overrated?I saw it with some friends a few weeks back and they all thought it was the best movie ever. I just thought it was a bunch of over the top CGI with no character development... And Captain America's costume looked like it came from Toy's R Us.
Probably going to be in the minority, but I enjoyed Avengers a lot more. I enjoyed TDKR, but the movie had a lot of pointless plot points, some editing was really dodgy and the movie dragged at times.
Avengers was more comic book-y... but Rises gave me that emotional tear at the end. I'm a sucker for suspense.
Not to say Avengers didn't have any suspense, but I had more interest in TDKR.
Also, I'm a DC.
Even with all those Marvel superheroes [and Robin Scherbatsky] in the Avengers movie, TDKR is still without a shadow of doubt better.
The Avengers movie had some of the best super hero fighting I have ever seen (I haven't seen TDKR yet).
That being said, the Avengers story had little depth (yes, I read the story analysis of how Loki created a win-if-he-loses scenario) and was kind of boring save for the action sequences. Maybe the extended DVD release will enhance it.
I rewatched the first two Batmans. They age quite well IMO

The characters were all pretty well written, but that was it. The plot was about as stupid and straightforward as you can get.
Yeah, Dark Knight Rises all the way.

Isn't it a little bit... uh, fast to say that? They're not that old.
Haha, what? It's a superhero film through and through. You can't bring in that "realism" approach for this film.TDKR... it's not even close, really.
And TDKR is NOT a superhero movie, in the way that people would use that term. That does the movie such a diservice.

Yeah, I definitely thought it was overrated. Lots of CGI action combined with a witty comment from Iron Man once in a while. It wasn't a bad movie but it's far from being one of the best movies ever.I haven't seen TDKR yet, but did anyone else think The Avengers was overrated?I saw it with some friends a few weeks back and they all thought it was the best movie ever. I would agree with this. Avengers was okay i guess, nothing amazing though. It was fun to watch because of the CGI but honestly it was a VERY generic superhero movie.I haven't seen TDKR yet, but did anyone else think The Avengers was overrated?I saw it with some friends a few weeks back and they all thought it was the best movie ever. I feel bad voting for the avengers but it'd have to be that. I didn't come in with expectations that TDKR would be as good as the second but i just didn't enjoy it, as much as i wanted to. no huge, genuinely impressive action scenes, the fighting wasn't really that great. as much as i care about story it just wasn't fun to watch a large chunk of it and my interest faded, I didn't like the soundtrack as much as bane's voice seemed like a spoof of itself even though i got used to it. Every one of my friends seemed to think it was great though, not sure where i went wrong.. I think i'll watch it again given the opportunity, I really wanted to enjoy it as i like the first film and love the second so it's ashame really, am i really the only person who thought it was nothing more than an OK movie?
the avengers was a kick ass movie with the right amount of story
bat man was far more story driven but little less action.
BOTH are good movies
avengers is my winner
The Avengers was entertaining the whole way through, but I had no real desire to see it again. The Dark Knight Rises stuck with me after I left the theatre and currently holds the title of my favourite film of the year. Dark Knight Rises for me
I feel that it isn't right to lump Nolan's Batman films in with the other comic book movies. They aren't just vanilla action blockbusters like the others. They aspire to be much more. Even if I think The Dark Knight Rises is the worst of the three Nolan Batman films, it's still better than any other comic book hero adaptation

TDKR was decent, while Avengers was overrated but still a highly enjoyably good film. I really do think The Avengers was a better overall superhero flick.
TDKR, Avengers used too much cheap comedy (which was fine for the first viewing) and I think Spider Man was better than it too
There's like around 13 action scenes in TDKR.
i didn't say it didn't have no action.... i said it was more story driven little less action compared to avengers
They are too fundamentally different to directly compare. That said, I recieved more enjoyment from the Dark Knight Rises. But it's Batman, so for me, that is to be expected.
TDKR, but the Avengers is a good movie. Though the two are not that comparable: one is a big, clever but albeit dumb action movie and the other is an intricate character study of a man that has been ravaged, both in body and mind, by his war on organized crime.
