just glad that Bale finally got his long overdue recognition from the Academy.

I've never heard of The King's Speech until today. I think I'm going to watch it soon. James Franco and Anne Hathaway were horrible. Disgraces to past hosts of the Academy Awardspowerman89
I'm just glad The Social Network didn't win best picture. I didn't see it but I have a feeling it has too many lawyers in it to make it enjoyable. I liked True Grit myself and I did see The King's Speech.
I agree it was rushed and not fully explained during the movie, but the japanese guy actually spent a lifetime in limbo, he was old by the time he met Leo. Clearly not very easy to get out of.Inception deserved its technical awards because it is an impressive film, but as far as the story goes, its an illogical piece of doodoo.
They explained the painfully obvious while leaving blank explanations behind things such as the machine.
Just because something is ridiculously complicated does not make it a good idea, it does not matter how many dreams within a dream you can have.
I've also not understood the whole point of limbo, or its omnious portrayal, as escaping it seemingly is very easy towards the end if it only takes (dream) death...

I posted this in the FAU regarding the Best Original Score winner (which went to The Social Network) and it was met with extremely angry remarks. I was wondering if anyone agrees or disagrees with my claims:
When comparing the scores of The Social Network against Inception, it sounds like you're putting a Midi file up against an orchestra. Time and Dream is Collapsing are better than anything in The Social Network. Think of the amount of emotions that these songs convey, how much of the story they actually tell. As opposed to the single emotion in most of TSN score. You can probably count the amount of notes in this with one hand. (Which is ironic because "Hand" is in the title.)
Personally, I would have given Inception Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Director and Best Picture, on top of what it already won. For me its by far the best movie of the year.
Look...The King's Speech was a good movie. The cinematography and score were great as was the acting. However, it really wasn't anything more than a feelgood movie with, IMO, a plotline that just didn't seem that significant/important to me. Again, this doesn't mean it was a bad movie, it just wasn't (IN ANY WAY) best picture. Personally, I would have chosen The Black Swan. It was a movie that made you part of it's experience. Portmans transformation was fantastic. Honestly, to get me (and my other guy friends) to like a movie about ballet, the movie has to be pretty dang good.
[QUOTE="gaming25"][QUOTE="Lockedge"] It wasn't long ago that Avatar was the best film ever. :P Just laying out a comparable.Pixel-Pirate
Avatar wasnt as criticially acclaimed. So when I say that many people think it was the best film ever, I mean it.
I haven't met a single person who remotely felt inception could possibly be best film ever made. It doesn't even deserve best film of the year. This is where the "overrated" calls come from. Calling something the best ever=overrating it.In real life? No, I haven't. On the internet? I've seen tons of e-people make that claim. For my sanity, I just assume that these people are thirteen years old and don't know what a great movie is.
Just cameback from watchig The Kings Speech Amazing move , also is it only me or did James Franco feel so nervous when hosting?D-RS
I'm pretty sure he was high as ****.

No since there's a big difference between an 18 year old who is considered an adult and a 14 year old.
I wasn't trying to start an argument however. I just found that exchange to be funny.

Haha ya neither was I. I usually don't go that low, but damn.
I'm glad this wasn't another year of runaway winners. I'm glad Inception got some recognition and both Black Swan and The King's Speech are on my to-watch list.
[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"][QUOTE="gaming25"]Avatar received more critical acclaim then Inception... Youre joking right? That just simply isnt true at all. The only thing that Avatar had over Inception as far as critical reception was the Golden Globe. But by and large inception has been rated on average higher than avatar.Avatar wasnt as criticially acclaimed. So when I say that many people think it was the best film ever, I mean it.

No, Avatar was nominated for Best director and best editing in oscar, two important films awards neither was Inception nominated.
Avatar actually has a higher metacritic average than Inception, believe it or not.
And obviously, 2.7 billion dollars and people all over the globe spoke their opinion

All I'm gathering from your post is that you think the more complex something is, the better it is. Which isn't true at all.

Big is better man, if it sounds and looks complicated then it must actually be right? RIGHT!? :PThe best thing about the Oscars was James Franco. He was a gigantic troll. He tweeted non-stop during the ceremony, posting pics and videos taken backstage.
Some highlights:
- The moment the hosts went on stage. I thought I saw a phone, but I can't believe he tweeted this.
- Franco with Jordan Rubin, one of the show's writers: "you gotta take all responsability for this"
- Right before going on stage: It might be bad. It might be horrible.
- Phone in the pocket
He made the night for those of us that followed the show on the Internet. Thw show was a freakin' disaster and he didn't give a flying ****.
