It looked bad before I watched it, but since so many said it was so good, I gave in. I watched it. It sucked. Totally way too unrealistic. Of course, this is just my opinion. I still want to know why so many think it is so good.

If you saw the movie, and thought it was good, please tell me why.

You hated it because it was unrealistic? You must hate movies in general then. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I wanted to. 7/10.

Why does it being unrealistic matter in relation to how good of a movie it is? That seems to be your only reason for not liking it.

I hate any movies with talking animals and super hero movies because they don't exist in real life.

This must have been the only movie you saw over the last year. That is the only way any person can call it worst of the year.

It wasn't a documentary, the fact that it had aspects that were "unrealistic" does not mean anything, and for you to hate it because of that is well...dumb. Why was it good? It was a suspense filled and thrilling war film about the effects war can have on the mind of soldiers and the relationship among them, good and bad. The performances were top notch, the direction is probably the best of the year, the cinematography was fantastic as well as the script. Not to mention they did all this without being political or taking sides.

the main plot was a made up for sure, but it's called realistic because the movie was pretty good at presenting war's atmosphere and what soldiers have been through during these years.

Absolutely. I felt that Dwayne Johnson really explored the human condition. He showed the struggle that a man goes through, as he experience the dichotomy of what he wants going up against but still communing with what is expected of him by those close to him and by society as a whole.

Boom, right there. That is one of the main reasons why its lack of any kind of realism bothers me. Probably half the stuff in that movie would never happen. The whole sniper scene was garbage, the scene where they go rogue is garbage, the scene where the Ranger goes rogue is garbage. The acting, special effects, editing, sound....all good. The lack of realism though just brings the whole movie down. If this is the best Hollywood can come up with as far as GWoT movies go...then im dissapointed.

I can understand you not liking it, but the worst movie of the year?! That's bit extreme, no?

I very much enjoyed The Hurt Locker, I'm rooting for it to do well at the Oscars.

It is funny I read somewhere that even Jeremy Renner mentioned in an article how that criticism angered him, he said leave that stuff to the documentaries. No one ever said this was supposed to be a completely accurate film, or depict actual situations. It is a film, and the TC clearly forgot this, films always stretch the truth and add in fictional aspects to the plot. The Hurt Locker did the same, but it didn't take anything away from the film at all mainly because the plot wasn't the point of the film, its message and atmosphere were. Not to mention it isn't THAT unrealistic, soldiers who have seen it have not only enjoyed it but thought it was a good representation of what goes on in Iraq.

And which soldiers would you be talking about? I have yet to meet on soldier, anywhere, that thought this movie was realistic or good. I understand that you can't have a 100% realistic movie. I understand that the uniforms are never going to be 100% correct and all that. But to have entire scene's that are outright implausible is almost offensive to the military community.

My brother thought it was good. He did two tours in Iraq.
My childhood friend thought it was good. He just got back from Afghanistan.
Two buddies from college both thought it was good. They've both done their time in Iraq.

You can find numerous articles on the web with interviews with soldiers talking about the film. Yeah some have called it inaccurate with its depiction of certain situations...but once again, Bigelow was NOT making a documentary. She wanted to capture the atmosphere of this war and its effects on the minds of soldiers, the relationships they shared and also explore the notion of"war is a drug" and what goes through the mind of someone who walks towards danger. To do this things had to be fictionalized, but to say call it horrible, or the worst film of the year because of this is a horrible way to view a film especially when being realistic wasn't the point it was making.

I thought Pandorum and District 9 were good. I also thought that 2012 and Avatar were pretty bad. Just give me a classification of movie and I can tell you what I like if you want to know. And this is not a trolling effort. I just read that The Hurt Locker is being nominated for a few Oscars this year and I want to know what it is sooooooooo awesome when it tells such a BS story.

edit: Yes, Morgan Freeman does narriate penguins in real life.

I have no interest in seeing it. I think the people who like it are those who have no conception of what the military is like.

EDIT: those who think it's realistic. I'm sure it's still entertaining, but I'm not a fan of corny war films and that's what this looks like. But, my opinion doesn't really count since I haven't actually since it, I guess.

Saying it is the worst of the year seems to be a major overstatement. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Though I did not think it was as great as some are saying.

[QUOTE="M1Hunter66"]And which soldiers would you be talking about? I have yet to meet on soldier, anywhere, that thought this movie was realistic or good. I understand that you can't have a 100% realistic movie. I understand that the uniforms are never going to be 100% correct and all that. But to have entire scene's that are outright implausible is almost offensive to the military community.

My brother thought it was good. He did two tours in Iraq.
My childhood friend thought it was good. He just got back from Afghanistan.
Two buddies from college both thought it was good. They've both done their time in Iraq.

Either your making that up or none of those guys have combat MOS's. I did 14 months in Iraq and am about to go to Afghanistan. My left ear is 90% def from IED's. I have yet to meet another soldier, who has been there, say it was good. The movie sucked because it tries to be cool by making a bunch of stuff up.

Why does it being unrealistic matter in relation to how good of a movie it is? That seems to be your only reason for not liking it.spazzx625

This. I thought it was an enjoyable movie. Not nearly as amazing as I thought it was going to be, but better than most war films.

It looked bad before I watched it, but since so many said it was so good, I gave in. I watched it. It sucked. Totally way too unrealistic. Of course, this is just my opinion. I still want to know why so many think it is so good.

If you saw the movie, and thought it was good, please tell me why.

Corny? It has a very serious tone throughout the whole film. Corny would be the last thing I would call it.
