The one modern cartoon I'd like to see is Megas XLR.

And Samurai Jack.

Megas was AWESOME.

Juggernaut140

Oh **** yeah! ******* Megas man, that show was funny, had badass characters, and awesome fight scenes.

I just rewatched an episode. That is definitely one of the most kickass shows I've ever seen.

Dude, they made an entire episode about ignoring a super powerful alien that was attacking earth just to get a slurpy until the alien destroys every place in town that has them

It's time for SUPER DESTRUCTOR MODE.

-presses button, all missles avoid target-

Well.....super destructor mode hasn'd had it's kinks worked out yet....

As much as I disagree with you losers, I also have to agree to an extent. I used to LOVE saturday mornings, shows like Stactic Shock, this one show with a titanium alloy robot, shaman king (which isn't that old), pokemon, hell even Yu Gi Oh, and I definately can't forget DRAGONBALL Z.

However, hey arnold sucked, and so did countless others you guys mention.

Juggernaut140

Boat Fail

Static Shock? Yu Gi Oh? Pokemans? GTFO of this thread right now

just remembering all the fun saturday mornings I had in a thread and where people express their love for a show featuring half naked babies in diapers.

Thats because you're older now. How old were you when you watched Ren and Stimpy? I used to love all those classic shows like Doug, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Rockos Modern Life, etc. But that was when I was still young, I cant even watch half those shows now without getting bored. Its a cycle thats been going on since our grandparents times

I saw one where he's fighting a giant robot, then out of nowhere starts screaming and smashes his head into a giant button to shoot some missiles

Man I love this show :)

Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life were good cartoons. Why? I can still enjoy them 14 years later. The same cannot be said for Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, and most other cartoons which I cant even stand now. That's the thing that I think a lot of people fail to realize: yeah, today's kids cartoons suck...because you're an adult. The kids today love them however and in ten years they'll be talking about how those kids are missing out on "great classics" like Hannah Montana and whatever else kids watch these days. And the same was true back when we were kids. Its an on-going cycle. Seriously, go back and watch the shows you loved as a kid and see if you still like them nearly as much.

Well, to be fair, nostalgia plays some part in your liking of older cartoons as opposed to the newer ones. The quality hasn't really changed. Cerussite

no, there has been a change in what is acceptable and the writing in general. this, for instance, wouldn't be shown because of the violence attached.

Do you have proof?

Yeah, I thought so. It's not the quality that's gone downhill, it's the interest of the current generation of youth. Just because YOU don't enjoy these cartoons doesn't mean the quality has gone down. Is that such a hard concept to grasp?

I just don't like it. It was entertaining back when I was in fourth and fifth grade, but by the time I was in 7th/8th grade I found it annoying, and the same goes for the other cartoons I listed.

The kids of today are being cheated out of good lives by television, protection, violence, famine, cancer, cars, social norms, the government, video games, their parents, school, their own fears, skateboards, bad music, bad books, and a ton of other stuff.

That's not proof. Until I have reason to believe that that episode was edited within the last five or ten years, I'm calling BS.

One memory I retain from watching cartoons was a specific episode of Rocko's Modern Life. It was a bizarre episode where they went to the bermuda triangle. It was afer watching that episode that I became fascinated with space and time. It impacted me in such a way that right now I am studying General Relativity independently in High School.

Dam straight.

Why? Because parents are becoming total and complete utter nancies. Violence is outlawed. Mothers are emasculating their sons because they treat them more like daughters. I've seen it again and again at my mate's places, their little bro's are total failures. I was as well. My parents raised me more like a unisex child than a boy. But thats partially my fault to be honest.

Its all this s*** like putting rubber on the bottom of playgrounds and other crap like that. No wonder we have men these days who are interested in nothing but fashion and just talking about mundane crap.

This world is so screwed. Moustaches aren't respected anymore. I personally congratulate any man who can keep one on in this era. Its time to fix this world, we need Spartan training for little boys. Make em manly and burly.

AGREE. The only good cartoon these days is The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. I watched it the other day and they mentioned a hardcore occult organization, no kid would know about that ... awesome.

Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Rugrats (old), etc. All great cartoons.

Cartoons back then were actually funny and had a point to them, today's cartoons are just kid's toy cartoon tie-ins or CGI junk. None of it is actually funny, and I still laugh at the old cartoons.

2 shows made in this day and age that are actually damn good quality are Xiao Lin Showdown and Avatar The Last Airbender. The latter of which is actually pretty damn serious for a kids cartoon on Nickelodeon.

Strange.

Nickelodeon is normally as far from serious or meaningful as you could possibly go. I'd rather let a child watch Saving Private Ryan than Nickelodeon. That crap is just useless.

Cartoons are shocking these days. They brainwash children with their horrible quality animation and keep them on the floor watching them for hours. I was guilty of doing such a thing myself. No wonder kids are getting fat. Its not just the food, its mainly the lack of exercise.

Kids aren't just being cheated out of good cartoons. They are being cheated out of a real childhood.

Whatever decade you were born in, you're to automatically think that your culture was supreme. The 80's think so, the 90's do to. In ten years kids will be talking about how they miss their nick shows on tv. I lived through both the 90's and the, uh, 00's, so I got the best of both worlds, and I'd take spongebob over doug any day. (in other words, 90's shows sucked.)
