Actually the "I could care less" part was meaning I could care less what people think of me, it really doesn't bother me. Thanks for the last sentence though. All I really wanted was to have my opinion respected for once...But of course, that's just a crazy though isn't it?

Most of the comments regarding death metal growls being "acting like cave men" and the such make me wonder. It is simply a different use of an instrument used for thousands of years. People don't mind when guitars are distorted, and I don't mind when vocals are growled. It adds a depth and emotion to the music that other genres don't use. Different doesn't automatically mean bad.

Also, I don't believe the name Death Metal has much to do with it, but that's just my take.

Growling adds no "depth" or "emotion" to music, because it is not musical. There is no tone. There is no melody. There is no harmony. There is no key, and lastly...there is nothing noteworthy about screaming or growling into a mic. It takes no talent and little developement of any skill. Singing on the other hand takes a lot of work and a lot of training, if you intend on being good at it, and it can be utilized in music like any other melodic instrument.

By the way, distorted guitar is completely different. It has melody, tone, pitch, a key, and it can be harmonized.

a lot of death metal has to do with gore. But theres a lot of it that actually has really poetic lyrics that arent gorey at all. infact theres a lot of christian dm bands.

thanks. it will take me a while to fish through it all (but assuming that they are quality, thats a good thing).

People don't care for the intensity of the music. I'm the same for most of the genre. I don't care for normal death metal, tech-death or any, super intense subgenre of it.

I like the more melodic stuff, especially when its fused with doom metal.
