The Tesla Roadster

The 100% Electric Supercar

____________________________________

Specs:
Tesla Roadster (Powertrain 1.0, 2 speed)
3-phase, 4-pole, AC electric motor
Power: 248 hp @ 8400 rpm
Torque: 211 lb-ft @ 0 rpm :o
0-60: 3.7 seconds
Top speed: 125 mph
Curb weight: 2690 lbs

> Designed by Lotus
> 100% Carbon Fiber Body
> 100% Electric
> 250 Miles per charge
> 3.5 Hours to charge from 0% (with latest charger unit, 8-16hrs with standard charger)

Can your car give you 100% torque at 0 revs?

Electric motors are about 85-90% efficient at transforming electricity into movement. An electric generator fueled with natural gas is about 60% efficient. An internal combustion engine is about 14% efficient, in the best case.

As bad ass as that car is, almost no car will ever change the fact that I want to drive whatever is the latest and greatest Porche 911 GT3.

This is the 2010, but I don't think all the specs have been released. Just 0-60 in four seconds, 435HP, and a top speed of 194mph and some other things I can't remember off the top of my head.

Ford GT For the price alone, it kills any other car out there. It can easy keep up with any of the Lamborghini's or Ferrari's, and guess what...it was only $125,000. Now I am not saying that it cheap, but compared to $300,000-$500,000 for an exotic. Plus the style and design harkins back to 1960's model of the GT40. I love it! 0-60mph in 3.5 5.4L Supercharged V8 with 550hp and 500lbs of torque Only 3,500 lbs. Top Speed: 205mph [only because there is a limiter in it!!!]

Same here, I was really turned off to the Tesla when both models they had broke down.

I think hydrogen is going to be the standard when the time comes.

Why do you think so? There are really no advantages except the time it takes to refuel.

Except that it's already been shown that the same infastructure could be built to recharge battery-powered cars in as little as five minutes.

And what country doesn't already have a strong electrical infrastructure in place? Moving electricity from Point A to Point B has been efficiently solved for a very long time. Where as moving around hydrogen?

The production of electricity is also no challenge. Can the same be said about the production of hydrogen?

i said its the way forward, i didn't say its already here, firstly hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and produces zero emissions. the same cannot be said for electricity as the way in which it is supplied is straight from a source of emissions. and of course the production of hydrogen is a challenge, and that's why were still not there yet. its not the problem of making it, its the problem of storing it.

I remember that hydrogen filling stations will make hydrogen on the spot using solar panels. If there is no sun, it can use power plant supplied electricity.
