The last combat brigade in Iraq is in the process of leaving as I type this.
Hooray?

We still have people there with guns, camo, and patches of the US flag, all of whom know there are people in the buildings around them plotting their demise. I think we are far from "done".

We're leaving behind a small force to train Iraqi forces. Combat wise, we're done. Under the agreement our remaining troops will have to be out of Iraq no later than December 30th, 2011.
Starting a war then leaving early forcing the British & coalition troops to sort it out, excellent :/mikegtfc
We're not leaving early and no one is forcing anyone else to stay there. Iraq is ready to stand on its own, or at least they feel ready to give it a go of their own, and they want us out, so it's time to get out.
lol now your funny...
the last combat troops have left this means no more breaking down doors and that... the combat troops are leaveing because thinks the iraq military can handle it now on
we are still there doing other things...
Assisting the Iraqi forces in counter-terrorism and training, but combat missions by the U.S. are done.lol now your funny...

Now, to end the war: Carpet bombing, daisy cutters, predator drones, hellfire strikes, and a tactical nuclear warhead or two. Oh, and some AC-130 spookys or apache attack choppers with 40mm missiles.
You still haven't explained this to me.scorch-62
You asked me to explain it to you? I must have missed it.
The war was won very quickly. When that was finished we were fighting an insurgency.
We haven't been fighting a war since I last deployed in 2007.

This is pretty much just another peacekeeping mission now(which the U.S. does all the time), not a war against anybody. Iraq War = overlol now your funny...

Not so fast! We've still got Afghanistan, and they don't like people drinking there.
Yea, that's the other negative. A lot of the guys that left Iraq just went to Afghanistan.[QUOTE="scorch-62"]You still haven't explained this to me.airshockerYou asked me to explain it to you? Yeah, you probably didn't see it. I asked in my now-dead topic that I made about this last night.

I was probably going home. I usually don't come on when I'm home. Spend time with my wife and all that. Work is normally when I'm on.

Iraq War = over war is not over until all operations are complete... get it right buddy Bye not coming back
Uh yeah, the war is over. All operations in regards to the war itself are over.
there are still about 50,000 troops left in Iraq, so i wouldn't say the U.S. is COMPLETELY done with Iraq, Those troops will be stationed there till May of next year when they will all be withdrawn from the area. But I am glad that majority of the soldiers will be coming back to their homes.

Where does that sound familiar?...I can't quite put my finger on it....oh yeah...VIETNAM and we all know how well THAT worked out.
And now the debate will turn to "Did we win or did we loose?"TreflisIt was a tie.:| Leave it at that.
And only five years later than the troops should have left. Now that's how you handle a pointless war.
Um, how was it pointless? Have you forgotten 9/11?And only five years later than the troops should have left. Now that's how you handle a pointless war.

Thanks Obama. You kept a campaign promise. :) BigSexy63Yeah the only promise he's kept. Congrats I guess...

There is no known evidence that links Hussein to 9/11.

Well he's linked to Alcheida(sp?), That's all I need to know.My thinking exactly. Soldiers will still have to defend themselves if attacked. They're will be more american casualties for sure.We still have people there with guns, camo, and patches of the US flag, all of whom know there are people in the buildings around them plotting their demise. Well he's linked to Alcheida(sp?), That's all I need to know. Al-Qaeda? And no, Saddam Hussein was NOT linked to Al-Qaeda. Iraq and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, just letting you know. Please Log In to post.
