The high school scene.

In all fairness, the two can be PERCEIVED as occurring simulatenously, as long as the lightning strikes close enough to the observer. Keep in mind that thunder is CREATED right when lightning strikes. It only usually SEEMS to come later because sound travels slower than light. But if the bystander is close enough to the lightning strike, both the lightning AND the thunder will seem to be occurring at the same time. On three occasions in my life that's happened. When lightning strikes 7 miles away, of course there's gonna be a delay between the sight of lightning and the sound of thunder. But when lightning strikes FIFTY FEET AWAY, they arrive at the observer simultaneously. Any delay between the sight of lightning and the sound of thunder is so miniscule as to be imperceptible. They seem to occur at pretty much THE EXACT SAME TIME. It's exactly like seeing a dude banging on drums from 50 feet away. Go to a concert and watch a dude hit a set of drums, and the drum beats APPEAR to be occuring at the exact same time as you SEEING the dude beating on drums. But at the same time, you KNOW thst that's impossible. Sound travels aster than light, so why does it LOOK like the sound and the light are arriving at the same time? It's simple. It';s because you're close enough to both the source of light AND the source of sound, that you can't perceive any distane between the time that each arrives. Each is instantaneous.Lightning.
They always make lighting and thunder occur at the same time for dramatic effect. Are they suggesting sound travels as fast as light, or that light travels as slow as sound.
A bit of a pet peeve for me.

i think movies get the lighting wrong all the time.. like in an office or a hospital or whatever... it's always very dimm with only lights on the people's faces.. that's never how it is irl.. should just be lots of cheap florescent lights.. comp_atkinsCold Case (the show) comes to mind. It can kinda get on your nerves after a while lol.
Bottomless magazines and clips for guns.
And in Shooter, the sniper uses a rag for a suppressor. Suppressors don't work like that. Hell, suppressors do not turn the gun's firing sound into a soft 'dil' noise.
That's been part of movies as long as there's been computers. We rented Weird Science, when I was a kid, and near the beginning he's typing all sorts of stuff to create that woman, and my dad says, "come on! Computers don't work like that. You press two keys and wait thirty seconds for something to happen."Computers that have no mice and can be controlled entirely by frantically typing on the keyboard.

More-so on TV: Why is it that the forensic people are also the cops who catch the criminals?
When the good guy jumps from cover to run to a different location, and there is a stream of bullets always one step behind him is very unrealistic. I've tried it several times while paintballing and airsofting. Nobody is stupid enough to aim two steps behind you while you are running. Stay behind your cover if you dont want to get shot.
When it's a movie with an alien or monster and it's not been completely introduced yet, the first time it encounters the protagonist, instead of going directly after them it will dart across the camera at point blank so they only get a slight glimpse of it, accompanied with some high pitch 'make you jump' sound fx.

Meh, before windows, computers were all command line interface. i.e. no mouse. Much like when you use the "run" window on your comp. Plus, in a lot of data entery programs, there is no mouse use because it slows productivity.

Yes, I always note that too. It's lame but I guess it's needed for that dramatic effect... Another thing is when patients are dying on a hospital bed and their ECG flatlines. Typically you see them get out a defibrillator and start shocking the poor dude/chick, when in reality, that doesn't do anything (but often it'll magically work in movies). All you can do is CPR.I would say high school in general...
Oh and college. I swear Hollywood makes college out to be some glamorous party full of beautiful people and crazy actions without consequences...
Yeah I would love to see guys get away with the stuff done in Animal House :P
