Why are you scared of death, when you already dead in the past? In the past you were dead many times and now you just can't remember the past because it is just like that . But you were born with a new soul and you are here alive and well, but you will die like always and then come back as always. Do you believe in my theory or Do you not believe in theory?mohan88
I stopped believing in Reincarnation when I was a frog...AnubisCraigI was a sheep when I lost my belief...
If every soul gets reused, were there 6 billion people 500 years ago too?Stealth-Gunner
And surely, if these souls are just reused, they'd have been around at the beginning of time, and there wouldn't be 'new' ones being born.
In the physical world, our consciousness is merely electrical activity. But that sounds depressing.
As for spirituality... I kinda sway. Reincarnation? Maybe. Karma? Maybe, but that doesn't give people an excuse to be jerks. =P
We will all find out eventually.

Reading Sigmund Freud you realize that your brain can be in a vat, and what you experience conciously is nothing more than metaphysical... or I could have gotten that from Keanu in the Matrix.
[QUOTE="karlgauci"]Are you planning on Making another new religion?mohan88Does this look like religous thread to you?Yeah, if it survives another page or two I bet that's where it'll go since you're stating as a fact that souls not only exist, but reincarnate after death.

How are you sure you were dead many times in the past?
"It's just like that." Is that your supported opinion? Born with a new soul? You speak of these things as ifthey are facts.
Look, I agree with you about rebirth, as I myself believe in reincarnation. But there is no way to know what's to happen after death. Isn't that in itself reason to be a bit unsure and scared? I don't know for sure that I have lived and died many times before.
I actually agree with your theory, yes. But is does not give me comfort in the least when confronted with my own mortality. How can anyone not be a bit frightened by letting go of everything you've even known and been?
Reincarnation is worse than an afterlife by far. Not only because of fear of being reincarnated as an ass, a democrat, or a chick...but because that limits our survivability. If a comet hits..no more coming back.
As far as i go, i will continue to pray to god their is a heaven. Or we're all **** and i owe someone 20 bucks.

And surely the Earth is the only planet in an infinite universe that can harbor life?

Just like that you were born when your mom gave birth. Just like that a person dies after a shot to his cheast and just like that a tree gets destoryed by a lighting. :D Just like that exist, aslo do not be scared of death because that is part of life, when you get old i think that is a warning sign, so you know when you are gonna die. So do not be scared of death because everyone and everything dies and you know it!!!!!!!!!!!!![QUOTE="AnubisCraig"][QUOTE="Stealth-Gunner"]If every soul gets reused, were there 6 billion people 500 years ago too?Rekunta

My point exactly. Also, he never said we'll come back as human, or any sort of life form in the universe.

The roadblock, the end up of the Tunnel. The question is, after we die, do we keep moving past the road block, is there another side of the tunnel?
And i think that's what the big deal is about it...
If we knew for sure there was nothing after death, i gaurentee you there would be plenty of wars, suicides, and genocides under the tune of nihilism. Not that that wouldn't be interesting in it's own right, but it would be a crappy universe to live in nonetheless.
How can you be reincarnated as a different being? You won't be you anymore, how can you become a different person/species and still be the same?marbigmarbig
Reincarnation is the transfer of the mind's energy, not its memories or instincts or such. You know how when you dream, you can sometimes remember it once you're awake? I guess its like that only you "wake up" in a different shell with no recollection of your past life. Verdad?

That's the worst nightmarish hell i've ever heard described. What kind of horrible exsistence would it be to be stuck being reincarnated as random beings and creatures, unconciously praying that one day you can grace the light of a human once again.
Ugh, i bet hell itself is nicer...

Have you ever experienced life as a squirrel or an eagle? Probably, if reincarnation is real, but you wouldn't remember it. We probably lead pretty stupid lives in the eye's of critters.

That doesnt make it any less of a hellish exsistence. If i knew reincarnation were real, i'd do my best to upload myself into a computer, ensure i transfer to another human body, or get sucked into a blackhole so my conciousness is trapped into a strong gravitational pull for trillions of years.
However, being the christian i am, hopefully i am right, and you are wrong...very, very wrong.

It is our nature to think of worlds beyond our existence. Such thinking has been done since the dawn of humanity. We made religions to facilitate the more profound of these beliefs. Not a single one of us is right. Not a single one of us is wrong. It is the eternal question which can never be solved. It is, in essence, a paradox.Vortexx
Ooooh but its so fun to question
Because if I died, I might come back as an ever bigger ass than I am now, and I wouldn't want that... :(JustPlainLucas

I'm curious as to why you think being reincarnated would be so terrible? You say it as if you would still have human consiouness and reason after being reincarnated and would yearn to be what you once were. "Unconciously praying"? Based on what? The "soul" would not carry memories, in my belief it is purely energy. We wouldn't be a human conciousness stuck in a different body.
We as humans have nothing to relate or compare ourselves with the inherent nature, or "being" of other creatures....nor would we after rebirth. I believe it's a clean slate, so to speak.
Human perception and all that comes along with it would not be there. You would be reborn in ignorance.
Just my personal belief, anyway.
People are afraid of death not because they fear what comes after, it's because they fear losing everything they've made progress in during their lifetime. All their friends, family, acquaintences, memories, experiences, events would be lost after death. And while it obviously won't matter to anymore when you're dead, it matters while you're living and it's not something you want to lose.
I understand this theory, it's something I like to call indirect reincarnation. Basically, you'll be born as someone or something else, but obviously you'd have no knowledge of what you previously were since you're an entirely new entity. You will have no connection to who you were previously whatsoever. After all, humans are just living organisms lke anything else that see with their senses which are controlled by the brain.
