[QUOTE="Huell_Howser"]When I plug something in, I don't try to put two plugs together nor do I attempt to put the outlets together. Plugs fit into outlets. That's how it works.battlefront23

I like this analogy. A lot actually. ;)

I agree.

Yeah, pretty much. Oh and Republicans as well.

Gotta spice up the super topic with some politics!

I pity your shallow and narrow-minded views then. ;)

Doesnt mean other people arent free to try. :P    My main argument with people who don't support gay marriage is, they never provide a valid, rational argument why gays shouldn't be allowed to access the same right I have with my wife. Its always, bible this, or gays are yucky, or I wouldnt want to be raised by gays...etc

I agree.

The problem with this argument is that those with plugs also have an outlet, of sorts.;)

Gays should be allowed to be together, but the rights of religions should not be compromised in the process.

That is a fair assessment. Religion needs to have its own position on this matter and it should be respected. But when it comes to rights married couples are gain by a state recognized union, those rights should be equally available to all citizens who wish to acquire them by definition of the 14th amendment, section 1.

I'd vote for it. Relationships built around unwanted children (thanks to PMS) are usually unstable.

Sorry, but I'm a Canadian and therefore ignorant of the citation you gave :( And I still believe that gay couples should be given equal rights, I just believe that the religious aspect should not be the same. Personally, if it were under a different subsection of Christianity (NOT under Roman Catholic, Protestant, etc.) then I wouldn't have a problem because it would be a "different" religion of sorts. I just don't think the basic principalities of the religion should be altered.

Ah yes, but technically the state is supposed to remain secular in the law making process. Not every citizen is christian, or religious, and the laws of the land are supposed to remain un-biased and give people freedom from religious persecution. And my argument isnt necisarily about the act of marriage or the ceremony, its about the rigths granted by the state to people who are allowed to get married.

Then why doesn't the state just create religious marriage, and civil marriage? The former being a spiritual bonding for religious people, and the latter being a legal bonding for athiests or those with religion but choose not to undergo the sacrament of marriage.

I have a quesiton. If there was a bill that would make illegal to have pre-marital sex, would you vote for it? Since the bible and christianity does not want you to have sex before you're married?mtcoola

Yes I would, because at the very least, that would be a deterrent to sin.

The Bible defines marriage. It also says that humans have the free will to sin. It does not, however, say that marriage can be redefined.Genetic_Code

This is also true and a great point.

It would probably increase the odds of staying together.....

Renegade_Fury

You tell me that when your 30 and i'll except it's your view.

My parents did that, and they've been married for 25 years. :|

In fact, the majority of my family had arranged marriages, and none of them have ever divorced. Funnily enough, the one couple that did have a divorce were not arranged, and went through the type of relationship you think has better end results.

Pleased that it worked for them. Maybe i should say if nether person has strong religious views then it's more like the way i said but opposite if they do.
