Dargiboo
Are you serious? Best song of the year?
Mine was Hip Hop Saved my Life by Lupe Fiasco. Man, The Cool was just amazing.

Flo...Rida...? Turn the crappy radio off...
I didn't say anywhere that you had to like the song. Low has good lyrics and a good beat in my opinion. You just have a different taste in music.EDIT: Besides if it wasn't a good song then how has it been the top song on iTunes for over 3 months?
Hmmmm pretty hard, i would have to say either
A Little Piece Of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold
One Republic- Apologize
Linkin Park- In Pieces
if i had to choose out of those 3 it would be the first one, but my most listened song in 2007 was probably someday by flypside, it came out in 2005 but damn i feell in love with it.

Whut.
Seriously. People have these immense hard-ons for the Portal Song. It's like a bad inside joke, except in a poorly created musical form. It's funny, in a way, much like Weird Al songs are.
And if you think the only good music came from the 60s-80s, you need to open your eyes to what the music industry has become. The Led Zeppelins and The Whos of today aren't out in the open and on the radio/tv. You have to look. Chances are you just watched MTV and listened to the radio and wrote an entire decade off. Superb.
My choice was Radiohead's "Videotape".

Screw the sales!I'm really sick of people judging art based on revenue gained. It means absolutely nothing.
Favorite Single of the Year: "Icky Thump" by the White Stripes.
Besides the radio, I haven't listened to many of this year's songs.

It's true. As much as I hate saying it(because I end up sounding like some stuck up elitist snob), people who watch MTV and listen to the radio are besically steered towards what the labels and stations want them to hear. it's called "rotations" and it's just like if enough people tell you a lie, you'll believe it to be true.

It's probably the worst argument anyone can make.

I checked the lyrics, and they were below-average. Maybe I missed a verse.

Lol, You're right godlovesdead. Sales don't matter? Sales are the only thing that does matter. They'd best thank their producers for making their careers, too. I swear, most new rappers nowadays get good producers to make them huge, and the producers don't get any credit.
CORRECTION: Sales are all that matter to the artist. The listener cares about much more. What I'm trying to say is that the song must be at least okay with those kind of sales. Do you agree?
Dargiboo
No. Artists who don't care about their fans are corporate cashcows who are in it for a quick buck and nothing else. Then there are people like Tom waits, Explosions in the Sky, The Flaming Lips, and a slew of others who care for their fans.
The Mountain Goats are a great example of a group dedicated to their fans. Sure, they like money, but there are people who love making music, and enjoy playing it to other people.

Also mainstream success does not correlate with quality of song.. At least with me.

Below average in your opinion. There are AT LEAST 470,000 people that disagree. That's how many bought Low in the first week it was out, setting an iTunes all-time record. Here's a link: http://idolator.com/340322/one+week-superstar-flo-ridas-hot-100-sales-bonanza

Low's Drums and Guns is better than Flo Rida's "Low". In my opinion. Plus, most people I've talked to like the beats in rap and hip hop, and not the lyrics. Meaning a good chunk of those 470,000 people bought it for that producer's beat. I wish they'd find out who the producer was(90% chance it isn't Flo Rida) and become His/Her fan.
