@Aljosa23: Agreed. Sadly I'm not surprised to see how this thread has gone either.

Such a horrible tragedy. I hope that those involved over there can find their way through this very difficult time.

Damn that's some powerful images. Tragic event, but I hope people of France don't push for their politicians to adopt some emotional, heat-of-the-moment, kneejerk domestic/foreign policies that turn out to be detrimental to the country in the long term.

I'm talking larger scale. More countries involved.

Obama STILL won't say it was Islamic terrorism or radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism, and he won't treat it as such.

Even after the oldest ally of the United States of America, France, suffers 84 killed and over 200 more injured, some fighting for their life.

The Burka is sickening to me, **** the Burka and all those who force women to wear it.

There is not an ounce of political correctness in my being. To say that I despise or hate Islam doesn't even come close.

Call it what it is, a cult of death.

Think of all the lives they could have saved had they only banned trucks. Haven't we learned that banning things solves everything?

Right and where the sky is green in your world , it's blue in the real world and we all can see that the insane gun laws in the US have nothing do with this.

It's France with the insane gun laws, not the U.S.

Really though, let's not conflate issues. Why shouldn't they ban trucks? Are all those lives not important?

If guns aren't going to be banned, make tanks road worthy. I'd be safe from guns AND trucks.

A tank shooting into a truck would probably cause more collateral damage than the truck driver.

Except the Catholic church, for all of it's myriad of RICO level crimes, Does not promote beheadings, suicide attacks and shooting sprees. Catholics do not cheer with glee over the treats a martyr will receive in another dimension. Christians had to reform, and did. I hate the Christian ideology vehemently, as it ingrained tons of terrible thought and action patterns in my life, and ruins countless lives. But the difference between religions matter, and the fact that Christians typically do not promise rewards for murder on a mass scale. This is not a detail, it is a fundamental difference.

What are you planning? :(

I'm planning on continuing to act like a professional driver and do everything in my power not to kill people with a 137,000 lb killing machine? I'm merely saying the act of using a truck to kill so many people is sickening. Lots of people don't understand the killing potential of a truck, and the idea of someone using it as a weapon made me nauseous.

Have you seen what a truck does to a deer at 100+ km/h? If the truck isn't red, it will be after it hits one.

He sure seems to sympathize and coddle those of the Islamic faith. I believe it was today when he said the U.S.A. can not scrutinize or single out muslims. That's very easy for a schmuck like him to say when he is guarded 24/7 by many people with quite the armaments. If he wasn't guarded as well as he is, I think he might sing a different tune.

@Solaryellow: What is the ratio of peaceful non-murdering muslims to radical terrorists? That may give you an idea of his train of thought. Still, I think almost all religion is mostly harmful and needs to be phased out.

I think the idea he won't even acknowledge what he's fighting is what is scaring people. The first step to solving a problem is addressing what it is.

French security chief warned the country was on ‘brink of civil war’

“We are on the brink of a civil war,” Mr Calvar reportedly said, according to French newspaper Le Figaro, noting that the clash could present a bigger threat than the terrorism itself.

....

Anti-Muslim sentiment appears to be on the rise in France and other areas of Europe where there has been an influx of refugees from Syria and a number of terrorist attacks linked to Islamic State.

“Europe is in great danger, extremism is growing everywhere,” Mr Calvar said.

“I think this confrontation is going to happen. One or two more attacks and it will take place. It is up to us to anticipate and stop all those groups who would trigger clashes.”

If one copy-and-paste unresolved issues from the Middle East into a western country, the Middle East's situation would be replicated.

You know that is an impossible calculation. What fuels me to say such a thing is because many people look at complicity being rampant among the followers of such a faith and apply it in different ways than others. Regardless, our president does not have to deal with the hazards of everyday life such as the threats we, the people, face from this ongoing war. He's not the guy walking through Manhattan on his way to Nintendo World wondering if there will be a terrorist event. He's not the guy who went to a club and was shot to pieces due to terrorism. Maybe, just maybe, those with the target on their heads would like our president to act rationally rather than apologetic with his head in the sand.

@Solaryellow: I'm not sure why Obama saying the words islamic terrorism or whatever it is people want him to say is going to change reality. We are definitely waging war. Do you want to see more soldiers being sent off and bombs dropping? That is whats fueling terrorism in the first place. You want him to raid Muslim neighborhoods like Trump is advocating? What would you have Obama do?

Obama made a comment about not looking at these people more closely. For some reason he seems intent on protecting the people of this faith from any sort of perceived negativity coming from the people of this country. He is opposed to stopping people from the Middle East being allowed in our country. Common sense would suggest applying the brakes rather than going full throttle like he and the S.O.S. want to do when it comes to these people. Again, why the hell should he not want these people to come in because HE won't be effected by them unlike the average citizen. He can sit at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in complete safety and security. Bombing or not, I'm not sure what is the militaristic solution. What I am certain of is that terrorism would not go away if the United States was not bombing these terrorists. There isn't an on/off switch like you seem to think exists. That would be nice if it were true.

Our President needs to step up and act as if he understands the situation rather than diving his head deeper and deeper into the sand.

@Solaryellow: I don't think there is an on/off switch. Not at all. Actually I believe there is very little we can do and these attacks will continue no matter what we do. At least in the near term. Immigrants get vetted quite thoroughly and we are not just opening the flood gates, not even close. There have been plenty of crazy non muslim or middle eastern terrorists as well. They actually outnumber the muslim attackers in america by quite a bit. I don't know why the muslim terrorists bother us more than the mentally ill shooters. Getting shot on the street is getting shot on the street. I wouldn't be too scared though, you are still more likely to be hit by lightning.

Clinton is not much better, her foreign policy has promoted nothing but war. Sadly the west is caught in a cicle of endless war with the middle east. There are many economical and political reasons to keep war going on. War became a business a long time ago and these are the consequences of the decisions made by those who wanted to perpetuate war.

On other news, mosquito bites kill 3000 people a day. Those deaths are mostly preventable or curable but there's not the political and media push to solve this problem. The media tends to overemphasize acts like those in France but they are probably making the problem bigger by doing it.

Great, just great. Now the Westboro Baptist idiots are rejoicing in the attack and insult France by spewing Bible verses depicting God's hatred against France, claiming that God sent Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhel to Nice and killed 84+ people of nationalities, and demanding that Nice should honor only God instead of the dead! This is insulting not just to France, but to God the Holy Trinity as well! Oh, and the WBC even Photoshops their signs and Bible verses into crime scene photos! I have no words to describe how insulting these people are to God himself.

BTW, my heart goes out to those who are affected by the tragedy. May all the victims R.I.P. (Wisdom 3:1-9; Isaiah 25:6-10a, NAB)

Westboro Baptist are idiots since the current Middle East issues are old world's issues i.e. Ecclesiastes 1:4-11 “There Is Nothing New Under The Sun” (NIV).. I can quote the Bible. lol...

If one copy-and-paste unresolved ideology issues from the Middle East into a western country, expect Middle East's issues to be replicated.

If there's a perceive weakness and inaction with the government then we have a situation similar to post-1930 wall steet crash Germany i.e. government weakness leads and perceive lack of security leads extreme nationalist movements.

You concede eliminating any bombing would not have any positive effect on such Islamic terrorism. Depending on where people are from, yes, they might get vetted quite thoroughly but those from some third world country where they are lucky to have running water or power? I'm supposed to believe our government is thorough when it vets people from Iraq, Syria or other ass backwards nation? Seriously, how do you do that with someone living in squalor or on the run from nation to nation in search of haven? The Islamic extremists have waged war on America along with so many other places but to compare them (killing in the name of their god/religion) with those suffering from legit mental deficiencies is quit insulting. The United States has its own problems, We don't need to invite more trouble in.

The problem with these terrorists is that they don't value their own lives. Hard to fight against a foe that doesn't care wether he lives or dies.

@Solaryellow: I do concede that, I think they are going to attack the west because of what they have done in the past and not bombing them now is unlikely to change their minds. I don't know, they are radical delusional murderers. If life in the middle east wasn't so miserable maybe they would value their life more? I still think we are better off staying out of middle eastern affairs. I don't think the oil is worth the trouble. We only seem to add to their misery.

As for the vetting process I read on a government page how the process goes awhile back and the process seemed rather extensive. We don't let as many in as Europe and I'm sure just as many want to come here. What actually goes on I couldn't say because I don't work in immigration or know any one who does. Hopefully there is some degree of competency but I guess it wouldn't be shocking if there wasn't.
