Trying to become straight.

It was sarcasm.  Once you are either homosexual or heterosexual, you usually stay that way.  It would be the equivelant of me meeting a nice hot guy.  It just wouldn't do anything...

Okay, this is a really weird topic, but here's my issue. I'm gay and have been this way all my life. I'm 22 now. However, I really wish I was straight, cuz life could be easier and I could get married and have kids, etc. Does anyone know how I can become attracted to girls and not guys? I've tried looking at straight porn, but I end up focusing on the guy or subconciously thinking about the guys. Looking at the hottest girls does nothing for me, but hot guys get me excited.

Help me become straight, because I dont want to be gay I mean, I've accepted it and I can be happy this way, but I feel that I'm missing out on a normal lifestyle. Any suggestions?

How do we know that one can't change their sexual orientation. TBH, i don't think we as humans know all their is to know about sexual orientation.

Hell, just look at ancient spartan civilization.  The men and women were separated for the first 20-something years of their life, and the fulfilled all their sexual "needs" with members of the same race (this was the only ancient civilization to actually encourage girl-on-girl action), until it came time for a man to get a wife, at which time they did some weird ass ritual where the woman would go outside at night and the man would capture her or something, i dunno. Anywho, my point was, what was the sexual orientation of people back during the height of ancient Sparta?

if you can choose to be either gay or straight, then you were probably born bisexual. 

I've gone over this debate in detail several times in other threads, but I'll just give you the short version.  Homosexuality doesn't appear in nature as it appears in humans.  Namely, to fulfill sexual desire.  It appears in nature as a form of dominance/submission.  They are entirely different things.murlow12

I don't think I can get myself to be sexually attracted to men, no matter how hard I try. So, it's not really my choice. I can wake up one day and say "I like men", but I won't really mean it.

I know it is...I was born and raised in MA and spent 30 years there,just recently moved to CT. My older brother's ex-wife just divorced her wife...Only reason why she went lesbian was cause she can't hold a boyfriend,so she figured "well if guys are not working out,let me try women"  that's basically how she thinks and she is so screwed up in the head.

That'd be funny if I knew if you were serious or not. How would that work exactly? It's just like how you aren't turned on by guys, gay men aren't turned on by girls. If you hung out with a lot of "good looking" guys, would that "get you off" like you are suggesting?

Despite what most people tell you, it is possible to change to whom or what you are attracted. It is not easy, but it is certainly possible. First, realize that contrary to public opinion, sexuality isn't something that defines who you are, and it is not inherently ingrained in you. The main advise I can give is to shun any and all thoughts of attraction/lust. Once you can block such thoughts from entering your mind (not an easy task, but doable), you can have complete control of your attractions.drgrady
