[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"] Can you name a western country that does the same thing as Uganda? Preferably, a first world country.LJS9502_basic
no this isnt about "doing the same"
its about doing something wrong.
I believe not giving people universal healthcare is wrong, i believe going to war is wrong, i believe torturing people is wrong.
Im sure many people believe this. But we simply accept it when our own government does it.
-
thats why i used my example. If we want to follow some idealistic view, then please, at least practice what you preach. If we dont do that. Then i cant blame Uganda for doing something wrong.
Simply because Uganda is going something wrong in "our (the west's) opinion. Just like America for example, is doing something wrong in my opinion, and im pretty sure Norway's opinion aswell.
Healthcare is available.....if you are too poor to afford it...the government picks up the tab. Otherwise you purchase it. If you prefer to spend your money on items other than healthcare then you deal with the consequences.War is not always wrong. Sometimes it's necessary.
Torture....well I'd have to see what you consider torture first.
You dont have the same view as me, thats nice. But its not the point of the argument.
I wasent asking for people to agree or disagree. I was saying there are many who agree with me.
Does that mean we should invade the USA simply to help their people get a better life?
Like i said, practice what you preach.

obviously every country with an superiority complex. Which are many. Especially in the west.
Which ones specifically?

I'm disagreeing with his statement, therefore I must be another mindless, over-patriotic American who always supports his government. We are talking about "right" and "wrong". And all of my examples fall into the "wrong" category. Just like killing g@y people.
If your own view tells you that war, torture and not helping people is "right". Then thats your opinion. Just like Ugandas opinion to kill g@ys is fine.

Needed health care is not denied. You simply fund the healthcare differently. There is no "right" and "wrong". Some may feel it's the individuals responsibility to provide for themselves and taking tax money off others for their care is wrong. As for war....some are justified and thus not wrong. Torture...well individuals all have different opinions on what constitutes torture so there is no clear concensus. So they don't fall into the same category as the death penalty as a sentence for orientation. And vis a vis your example about invading the US.....negates the fact that you stated you were peaceful.
[QUOTE="Half-Way"] why else would you use the "norway did bad things too" argument?Verge_6...I never used that argument, or made any statement even vaguely stating that.

Going to war on a country, and defending yourself are two different things. So i would obviously support norway if the occupation was still going on :P
